The biggest thing that pissed me off was when the news articles came out about his death, and read: "Insult comic Greg Giraldo....." THe reason that the death of one person is more important than the death of 10,000 is because we have all been taught to be insular, provincial and self-absorbed in our interests, particularly in America. I don't think it's anything to do with lack of empathy, but to do with the way that the news is reported. Also, the loss of Giraldo is personal, like losing a friend, whereas 10,000 africans is just a repeat of last year's news, and the year before, ad nauseum.
