My aunt's case work told her she couldn't love 5 kids so took all five of her kids away and split up the two girls and the three younger boys. The boy's foster mom and the case worker were FRIENDS! Conflict of interest? I think so. The real parents were deemed fit enough to get the girls back, but the boys were made wards of the crown so that their foster mother could adopt them. I live in Canada but agree so strongly with this problem as it is the same here as well. I have dealt with CAS harassment. My youngest daughter was taken from my care because her father has a drug problem and went for help! She was placed in a foster home where her leg was broken and I believe she was sexually molested. The foster father was on charges for this less than a year after her stay there. It took me three months to get her placed with my parents. She is home where she belongs now!

What was good enough for that branch was not good enough for Lennox and Addington. Two and a half years later I am still dealing with the bullshit. People need to educate themselves on the child laws in their area. Do not fully believe what others state is the law, as the law is different in each province/state. In Ontario you need to read the Child and Family Service Act. Do not even fully believe what your lawyer states. YOU need to read the laws and record what child protection workers and lawyers are telling you. Do this secretly and don't reveal the recordings when you catch the first lie. Let them lie and lie.

I am so tired of the CAS here in Canada. I have a grand daughter that has been in foster care since she was 8 and is 16 now. I have not seen her since she was 11 yet I was given 2 hours a month by the courts and have not got my visits since Jan 5, 2003. I am Canadian, and we have the same issues with Children's Aid Society. The CAS has no one to answer to, they control every aspect of the children's law, making it impossible to penetrate.

I totally agree but it's the f'n government. They lie left, right and center. What can we do? Nada. :( Because nobody cares. Some places you can't even get a legal aid lawyer anymore because they won't take the cases. :(

Oh I am well aware it's a violation of rights. That's beside the point. There really isn't anything that I can do (especially when all they have to do is lie and say they are to busy with other cases). Even if the lawyers do still represent people with CAS matters, they work along side them. I had a lawyer once who (I found out later) was dating my CAS worker and ended up marrying her. :(

Secretly record all your meeting, visits, and phone calls, including those with lawyers.  Simple as that.

I am not in the situation anymore but I did stuff like that... when I saw my kids... I wasn't even allowed to take pictures or bring in a cell or camera or anything. The court didn't give a f*** and played their little game because the courts, lawyers and Judges are corrupt here too. :(

Go figure that the courts are corrupt too. The judge that presided over my temporary care and custody hearing for my kids, previous to getting her law degree, worked for the CAS! Now is that a conflict of interest or what?

Of course they are. They all work together to keep their jobs. I agree, it is a conflict of interest; however, unless they feel some undying moral dilemma they brush it off and say they are "unbiased".
