Saw Les Mis on stage for the first time last Wednesday and went specially to see Ramin Karimloo but also looked forward to Hadley as Javert and my friend who knew nothing about the story or musical was blown away as was I. looking forward to go see it again. but not too soon.
Hadley was definitely the best Raoul I've ever seen, but I think that Norm Lewis was the greatest Javert I've ever seen. Look him up, he's phenomenal.
@surferdude3451 Yes he is, and for my money, the best Raoul I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot over the last 20 years. I fell in love with him immediately. Would love to see him as Javert but alas I live in the states.
He has a crazy awesome voice, but i dont like his interpretation. He seems way too... RAWR IM JAVERT AND IM GOING TO KILL YOU. Javert should be more... restrained because of his beliefs, in my opinion. When i played him, i had to do everything as it was written, no extreme yelling or messing with the rythm.
@TheLastFacePalm he said in an interview that he based that on some sentence in the book saying something like Javert being dog-like. Actually that exactly what I love about his interpretation :D
i remember seeing him as grantaire in the 25th and i was thinking "he is a really really good actor and singer" grantaire had never stood out to me before. then i saw that he was going to be playing javert in les mis so i thought i had to see it despite the fact i dont live in uk also because alfie was playing valjean but i was right hadley was just as incredible as i had hoped, going to see it again, cant wait to see him and ramin. Thanks for the upload, also do you have the prologue?
Simply awesome! Without doubt one of the finest Javerts ever. A great vocal match up with him and Alfie Boe... I just hope they are lining him up to take over Valjean, which would be incredible and another reason to go back and see Les Miz AGAIN. Would love to hear the 'confrontation' between Valean/Javert just before Javerts Suicide, if anyone has it...
I took my daughter to see this (along with Love Never Dies) as part of her Sweet 16 gift as we traveled from the US to see this last July. We also saw Hadley a few years ago on Broadway as Tiernan in The Pirate Queen & my daughter just loved him. We even brought the old Playbill & Hadley was so nice to leaf through it and even autograph it also. We loved him as Grantaire in the O2 concert, but seeing (& meeting) him, Alfie & Matt was a dream come true for us. This brings back memories of our Lo
Saw les mis In august with Hadley, he was superb!! Best javert in my opinion! Jonathan Williams was also fantastic, you could really feel his passion and emotion!!! Love les miserables!!
Thank you for posting! This is the only way I get to hear Hadley as Javert, I live in Canada and I don't see traveling overseas in the near future! So thank you sooooo much for posting, I just love it!
Went to see Les Mis on Sat 17th Sept, It was amazing, last saw it about 20 years ago, and I was too young then to appreciate or understand the story. This time was so moveing and powerful (cried about four times!!), went especially to see Alfie Boe who was spectacular, but I have to Say Hadley was equaly as good and I am now a fan......cant wait for him to bring an album out.
Thanks so much for posting this - I adore Hadley and am off to see Les Mis as a birthday treat in 3 weeks. After listening to this I just can't wait to actually see him perform this - he sounds absolutely incredible, so much intensity and a real sense of despair and confusion, I think he has just made Javert his own.
If anyone by chance has a recording with Drew Sarich as Valjean or Ramin Karimloo as Marius, I'd love to trade a complete recording with Hadley and either Alfie Boe or Jonathan Williams. Send me a message! :)
This man plays the best Javert I've ever seen - even better than the great Philip Quast. I was speechless after watching his performance in Les Mis, and though I had gone to see Alfie Boe, this man blew me away. I am now officially his biggest fan!!! :)
@SuperMummy2 I really hope he is that good!! I've seen Ramin and Philip Quast live as Javert, and on Tuesday will see Hadley as Javert. I think it's a great cast, I'd just have loved to see Katie Hall as Cosette for obvious reasons. It's a pitty she's in Phantom now.
I COULD NOT AGREE MORE! We were there Wednesday, expecting to adore the cast but never thinking we'd fall in love with such a young Javert - so much so that we had to wait at the stage door just to tell him how much he made our night! I loved him as Grantaire in the O2 25th anniversary production and we too have seen many Javerts, but thought Hadley would be too young - instead he was one of the best we EVER saw! The great Philip Quast is hard to beat but Hadley is almost there! GO HADLEY!
@Pimpozza1 Yes, he is indeed! It was the same for me with Drew Sarich as Valjean, I am a big fan, but thought him too young, but he was outstanding, never seen a better Valjean in my life. And Hadley did the same with Javert. A whole new interpretation which moved me to tears in suicide.
@DalekGorReviews The turntable is there, and dominates the stage. It also brings Mr. Boe and Mr. Fraser right up to the audience, which is amazing. The energy and dynamic force of this cast is stunning. Bodies sailing around the stage and fully staged fights. Go and be amazed.
omg he's absolutely amazing! i love him!!! i saw him two weeks ago and his performance was outstanding!!! i'll never forget seeing this live, HE'S UTTERLY AMAZING!!!!!!! :D :D :D
hes only 31 and hes trying to play a 50/60 year old and hes doing an AMAZING job ! ive been promised tickets for my birthday and i have to be honest im not going to see alfie im going to see hadley !! : D
@BeautifullEnigma One might go to see Alfie for the singing, but whoever loves musical theatre and the art of acting should go and see this Javert! Every note and every move are part of an amazing new version of this character. :-)
@claudiatoman oh yeah definitely the more clips I find of his version the more i love it and the more it makes sense if javert was a bit younger. like if valjean was a prisoner at his very first job and he feels like he messed it up it would explain the obsession . Hadley definitely puts his own spin on characters like he opened my eyes to Grantiare as a character i never really noticed before
@BeautifullEnigma hope you do get tickets - if not go get one for yourself, he does have some holiday dates tho so dble check before booking. I have seen the new cast 5 times now, admit the first couple of times was because of Alfie, but the whole cast is amazing - but Hadley is just brilliant, and he gets better and better each time I go. When he starts singing Stars the hairs on my neck stand up. Have been lucky enough to meet him at the stage door too. So lovely and down to earth.
@krisbeanie01 wow lucky you!! . yeah ive become a big fan of his so im going to go no matter what ! :) but yeah i dont have a twitter but ive checking that for dates hopefully will found one with room left !! do you know if they have designated matinees or days where the understudy cast perform??
I love Hadley Fraser, but I'm a bit disappointed by him going for the high notes in this song... I always like the difference between Valjean's and Javert's song, Javert has the lower version. (I don't mean that I think Hadley doesn't sound awesome xD)
Was immediately converted to Hadley/Javert when I saw him in Octoberish time...Saw both him and Ramin on Saturday...AMAZING.
