Well that proves nothing. Its very easy to blow a speaker which is unloaded (free air). Its also easier to cook a speaker with too little amplifier than having one thats too strong. A weaker amp clipping heavily will be basically sending some DC into the speaker and that will heat up the coil very fast.

Another fun thing to do with crappy speakers is to charge up a few nice BIG capacitors to a nice high voltage (say around 1000V) and then connect to the speaker.

With sufficient voltage and capacitance you can actually separate the VC and cone from the rest. Sometimes take the spider with it too.

Gotta make sure to have the polarity correct. So the speaker goes out not in.
