  • Even though the deer ate all of our gardens (and we so look forward to the veggies)...there is no way we could 'scare them away with BB shots'. Just not in us. BUT, there is a massive overpopulation in Northern NJ, and I'm afraid that these beautiful creatures are now killing our citizens on the highways and byways...just because they leap out of nowhere, and on these mountain roads, there is nowhere to go. It breaks my heart to say, they have to be sterilized or hunted. :::sniff:::::

  • In May 2007, the PA Game Commission approved a permit to allow the US Department of Ariculture to cull deer from Woodland Cemetery. You can Google it.

  • No it is not bad luck. They brought in sharp shooters and killed all the deer there because of overpopulation issues.

  • THIS IS VERY COOL! its rather odd to imagine deers in Philly, then again I had seen one in West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Philly! Is this cemetery in the city? It looks very old, it'd be a cinteresting place to take photos

  • Thanks for the comment. The cemetery is Woodlands Cemetery in West Philadelphia (University City) right by the trolley station at 40th/Baltimore Ave. I used to go spy on the deer all the time last year but I haven't seen them this year in any of my three visits (I hope it is just bad luck). It is indeed very old (some of the burials occured there in the 1700s) and very beautiful.
