I met him several years ago at a local show here in Canton, Ohio. I got in line for a picture I had an Indians shirt on and we talked about Cleveland Indians baseball. It was great and then I got a picture with him and he asked me if I wanted to do a pose and so he had me in a head lock with his fist upside my face. I really enjoyed meeting him and this man is a class act. He is truly one of the best ever!
I loved to watch guys like Greg wrestle. When Greg and the other legends stepped in the ring you believed that they were tough. They didn't even have to talk, you just KNEW that these were guys you didn't want to mess with. They had strong presense. It's good to see him in the Hall of Fame.
I swear to God, I met him at my hometown's airport today! Got a pic with him and everything! He's such a quiet guy, but I totally love him. :) I'm so lucky!!
Good props to Bob Backlund in the speech. Bob, despite the critics was a strong SOB - and very respected to those who fought him in his WWF championship hey day.
This is one of those wrestlers who didn't get the popularity because he didn't have the impressive body, or the true charisma, or a wonderfull gimmick, but always gave his best and wrestlers like this have made wrestling big as well, and that makes him just as big a hero as the really big names in the business.
Greg Valentine was a no-nonesense wrestler. He was a heel for most of his career. But I always respected him for his toughness. Like his father, Greg never dillied around, unlike some of the wrestlers of today. One of the all-time greats.
34 years of wrestling. Now that's a long time. I have a video where he's in an Indian strap match with Strongbow and Greg tries to grab a chair and a fan takes it out of his hands and Greg really hits him. Was something else to see.
@MRDXKLIQ101 No not world champ, but he is more deserving than Diesel, Lex Luger, Ultimate Warrior and alot of other world champs . Its nice to say that but but he was perfect for a IC Champ anytime though

He was so underrated. Today's wrestling stinks. It needs more Greg Valentines and Jimmy Harts managing them!

@hoopsheavenpa Greg Valentine should be brought back as a manager.

@xxTxRattlerxx I dont doubt that one bit. All the wrestlers used to say The Hammer was not a guy to fuck with, back then, and even now.
