@Justwantowatchavideo Regarding growth; if you are talking about their exposure, of course, i know i did my part to spread their music. concerning musical development; no. Artists do not need to move in a different direction, i.e. the stones never did. It can be however be successfull, eg Linkin Park.

I fell in love with atl because of raw vocals and their real life stories told in the songs. of course it is subjective, but the wider discourse of critics and fans dont like this new experiment.

Being a "real fan" doesn't matter to me, whatsoever. I'll listen to it if I like the music - and I like almost all genres of music. And if you listen to DW, you can tell their musicianship hasn't improved at all and his lyrics are much worse than before.

I did like Guts, Under A Paper Moon, Heroes, Time Bomb, and Return The Favor. And the rest of the album wasn't very good. If Dirty Work was an EP with just those songs (not in that order), I'd probably like it a lot.

I liked Nothing Personal, but Put Up or Shut Up was probably my favorite. Dirty Work was just disappointing. Although, I don't agree with their musical direction, it's their lives. They can do whatever they want; they can make whatever music they want.

I just won't be their with them the whole way through. I do hope they become as successful as they're hoping, I honestly do think it'll happen but still. And they might realize that one day and go back to writing better music.
