I remember he had a black and white drum set and at one point was playing with three sticks , keeping one in the air, and a strobe light going. It was a wild scene. A great drummer.

These guys are rubbish compared to travis barker. They have to use speed to sound good, but travis can sound good at any tempo, just playing in the pocket. He has a much better sense of groove than these guys, you can tell by watching his delicate techniques and innovative rhythm use in fills. He has much better skin-control too, he can get any sound he wants out of a drum, rather than just thrashing away with triplets and such... TRAVIS BEST DRUMMER EVER!!!

I saw Gene Krupa live when I was a kid. I was playing drums in the 7th grade band (was also learning the drum part to "Get off My Cloud") my band teacher mentioned Krupa (I had no idea who he was). was playing at John Carroll University. I mentioned it to my father who did know who he was (generational thing) bingo!

Id like to see Baby Dodds vs. Tubby Hall vs. Zutty Singleton go at it. Those are the real masters of jazz and Gene Krupas influences. Even Buddy Rich was influenced by Baby Dodds...the man revolutionized the drum kit by inventing the floor bass or "kick drum." These guys are the reason you have the Travis Barkers and Neil Pearts.

I'm not a drummer. I don't pretend to know about the intricacies and technicalities of drumming. I've been a Rush fan for over 30 years and, obviously, I really like Neil Peart.
But I have to say that watching the likes of this video and of Buddy Rich etc..., I appreciate the skill of these guys.
As far as I'm aware, drumming is about beat/tempo/rythmn. To watch 3 seperate guys pick up and continue this from another and continue it is amazing. I appreciate skill when I see it.

I am in my middel 80's. I've played in dance bands in the 40's and 50's. Too much t of today's music is trash. You cannot even understand the words being sung.
Those who can't sing or dance, just listen. Who is going to win on American Idol.

Man, come on guys... I understand this is originality in the flesh, but ALL drummers are good. I don't exactly love Barker, but you have to admit he knows how to have a good time behind a trap set. I love all forms of drumming and anyone watching this video should stop bashing on new age drummers, and just calm the fuck down. Drumming = Art, and by that I mean, not everyone is a great drummer but give them time and they could be the next Da Vinci

I saw Gene Krupa live when I was a kid. I was playing drums in the 7th grade band (was also learning the drum part to "Get off My Cloud") my band teacher mentioned Krupa (I had no idea who he was). was playing at John Carroll University. I mentioned it to my father who did know who he was (generational thing) bingo!

I'm a fan of travis barker, he did create his own unique style of playing. HOWEVER the old time drummers, who basically laid the way for every modern day drummer to date, get little to no respect and it's disgusting. You google top ten drummers all time and everyone puts john bonham, keith moon, lars ulrich blah blah blah but none of these guys get any love......pathetic. These guys have soul behind their drumming!

Id like to see Baby Dodds vs. Tubby Hall vs. Zutty Singleton go at it. Those are the real masters of jazz and Gene Krupas influences. Even Buddy Rich was influenced by Baby Dodds...the man revolutionized the drum kit by inventing the floor bass or "kick drum." These guys are the reason you have the Travis Barkers and Neil Pearts.

I'm not a drummer. I don't pretend to know about the intricacies and technicalities of drumming. I've been a Rush fan for over 30 years and, obviously, I really like Neil Peart.
But I have to say that watching the likes of this video and of Buddy Rich etc..., I appreciate the skill of these guys.
As far as I'm aware, drumming is about beat/tempo/rythmn. To watch 3 seperate guys pick up and continue this from another and continue it is amazing. I appreciate skill when I see it.

Gene Krupa was a great influence in my style of drumming. It was an honor to meet this great drummer.
