  • To be a street legal electric motorcycle headlight, tailight, horn and turn signals are needed. These are all electric and reduce distance and time a charge will last. I seen a few electric bicycles but I never saw a electric motorcycle. The technology is so new you are building your own race bike.

  • on the road with no rego !

  • That was gay. Life is too short for this type of crap. I expected to see a world record speed attempt and all I ended up with was some oompa-loompa in his knickers. Sweet.

  • Was at the lake and saw your run of 108mph well done guys

  • cute cameraman

  • Wait how much did the bike cost, time to make and could you make it road legal?

  • yeah why dont electric bikes use gears more often?

  • @eastcoaster54 Coz there ARE no gears!

  • Yes i agree. I am aware there are devices called gears which are not used here. My question is could there be more efficiency or top speed added if there -WERE- gears? OORR is it already geared, as good as it gets (because of the instant torque properties of electric motors). OK so i understand there are no gears...& why cars have gears and how they transfer power, so WHY not try it with these? Is it for ease of use? or not logistically efficient, or just avalable space around the batteries?

  • The gearbox on motorcylces is actually art of the motor - not a separate piece you can bolt on (like in a car). So as an electric motor doesn't have a gearbox, it's easier just to give more volts to the motor - as the motor has high torque anyway. Sure, you could put gears on, but it would be added complexity for not much more advantage. The Catavolt is geared very low - we have a huge cog on the motor, and a tiny one on the back wheel - yet the motor can still push it at that ratio easily.

  • Lookin' good, men. Best of luck on breaking the record!

  • Good luck, Mate for go to South Australia,, Flat salt lake. Be safe for land speed electirc bike test.

  • Cool Vid love the timelapse

  • Nice work. Hope it goes well. I seriously suggest you invest in some A123 batteries for it. They have twice the energy density of regular lithium batteries. Shouldn't be as expensive to fit out the bike with them, compared to your EV Capri. If you can get enough torque from the motor, have you got it hooked up to a proper gearbox. Surely it would help it go faster. I suggest a box with overdrive, due to the torque of electric motors with enough grunt for maximum speed. Good Luck with the Record.

  • @pathosbedlam Yeah, all these suggestions are technically worthy - but not possible unless I happened to be rolling in $ !!!

  • @pathosbedlam

It's a race bike, energy density is irrelevant (well at least enough to get 2 runs), what he really wants is Power density.

    nice one fella's!

  • "Batteries not included" so you guys decided to install your own. Challenging eh watt chaps? It's lookin' like it's getting there, but "is it bolted on? What a hoot!

  • WooHoo! Bring it on baby! >:)

  • Goose bumps man. Glad to see Burt Munro's spirit is still alive and well in all of you. Keep the spirit alive man. Show em how it's done. Yes I know Burt was from New Zealand but Still from your hemisphere.

  • That sound in the first pass is awesome Kearon... ...Can't wait for more...
