  • Well, he can say that wearing a striped/foulard tie with a striped shirt is 'okay' and 'in style', but of course he wants to sell ties. The rule of thumb to wear a solid tie with a striped shirt, and vice-versa, is a good ground rule and best only broken with a rare combination that works for you.
