  • @JasonLee215 not because of the keypad but because (I'm mostly talking about the 360 right now) it doesn't give you hands a cramp after about 5 minutes of playing it.

  • I really like this controller. The keypad also makes weapon switching in doom much easier. This is still a MUCH better controller than the 360 and PS3 controller.

  • the pro controller fixed a lot of problems with the original jag controller. and if you think jag controllers were huge, google comparisons with the original xbox controlller. the xbox controller is actually bigger. luckily MS saw the errors of their ways and came out with the the xbox-s controller. and then in a future generation, the excellent 360 controller.

  • Kind of reminds me of the Atari 5200 and Intellivsion controllers. In theory the 10-key seemed like a good idea with the changeable cards, but gamers hated them because they didn't want to look down at all the control buttons while playing the game. The D-pads are much easier because you could more easily control them by feel and there was little to memorize.

  • Everybody makes a big deal about the keypad as if it was a really good idea. I never thought so... If you need to switch weapons or bring up the map or whatever, unless you have the layout memorized, you have to take you eyes off the screen to look at which button for which item. If you happen to lose the overlay (easy to do), then you're pressing random buttons trying to find a certain item. Besides, if it was such a great idea somebody else would have copied it by now.

  • @10072018 It wasn't such a bad idea. It meant that you could switch to a weapon quickly in Doom and Alien vs Predator. Sure it was best to memorise the buttons, but you do naturally through use and if you forget then you have a handy reference. Whar irritated me was when games didnt come with them. I think Tempest 2k and Kasumi Ninja didn't come with them

  • OMG, I Never seen this before! this is ultra rare!

  • people may say "more buttons" but on most games these extra buttons were re mapped keypad buttons Im not sure what was what but it wasnt very good in all games

  • What's the number keypad for?

  • usually the pad was used to select weapons or to fix some options (ex.music) without having to pause

  • @panchillo9797 Switching weapons, changing camera angles and other secondary features

  • much better and much less chunky and more light then the original shitty-ass jag controller.

  • now go and kick some serious ass :D

  • NOT ENOUGH BUTTONS

  • Cool I had heard of these pro controllers for the Jag before but never seen one before. Nice.

  • To the best of my knowledge, the Jaguar Pro controller has the most buttons of any standard console controller. It has 22 (8 standard face buttons, 12 number buttons, two shoulders). the Xbox 360, for reference, has 17, if you count each D-pad direction as a separate button, which is how some games use it.

Only console controller of ANY kind I'm aware of with more than the Pro, is the Steel Battalion controller, which has like 40 buttons.

  • How rare are these?

Also, do any games use any of the extra buttons?

  • More scarce than the standard but will come up on Ebay occasionally. I bought mine from Telegames UK website 2 years ago. Primal Rage, Atari Karts, and Battlemorph are some of the games that take advantage of the extra buttons.

  • @DeanoTheLegend87 NBA Jam was meant for this. Sooooo much easier to play than with the original controller. The original only had 3 buttons which made turbo very awkward. with the new controller, you had 6 buttons and the shoulder buttons. with the shoulder buttons as turbo, everything became easier (punching, blocking, etc).

  • 6 buttons, a dpad, start, option buttons, and 2 sholder buttons. that is alot of buttns.

why dud they put in the numeric buttons? that is really a acrssive

  • should of done a Dr. Ashen style review of it x3

  • That's a whole lot of button mashing there.

  • this is a little less crappier than the original jag controller

    but...

i have this to say it sucking fucks it fuckin sucks and i dnt like it

  • I don't get it. Did the Pro controller make games EASIER to play, or did certain games need them?

  • The Pro's Direction Pad is more responsive which generally helps in most games. BUT there are two games that really take advantage of the Pro controller's shoulder buttons and additional XYZ fire buttons; Primal Rage (CD) and Atari Karts (Cartridge)

  • That Looks Awkward to Hold

  • PSN: SamuraiBubba

Like that S.O.B needed more buttons lol

  • that looks really hard to hold on to.

the L+R buttons should of been on the grips.

  • oooh clicky!

  • shoulder buttons, well done!

  • jaguar 64bit = 16bit system.

seems way too weak to be 64bit neo-geo was 24bit and kicked that things ass.

  • ive got to admit, putting that thing over the numeric buttons was a smart idea

  • @atocombabaya: Hardly groundbreaking. Intellivision did it in '79.

  • the fire buttons on that reminds m of the sega saturn controler and is that number buttons, if they are he it is also partly like a 5200

the jag was the first 64bit console and to my kowlage the only sucsessful 64bit console was the n64 god i love the n64! if u think it has bad graphics play turok 2 (ive seen ps3 games with worse graphics)

  • I have both Controllers

  • I bet it works perfectly with doom.

  • If they released this controller at the beginning, The Jaguar might have been a success.

  • Wow the pro controller looks really sweet I am going to have to pick one up. The basic controller is actually really comfortable too which one you look at it you wouldnt think so.
