you're *trying* to correct slang you egotistical dork. i say "trying" since you can't correct slang unless you're fixing slang to slang, not slang to formal language, that's not fixing, that's replacement. slang is informal language which isn't bound by grammar. grammar only binds formal language. besides... if you were gonna call that guy out on something there were plenty of other things to poke at to tickle your epeen.

gay when used to mean "sucked" or "stupid" is slang. just how words can sometimes be nouns and sometimes verbs without changing spelling, so can a word be used in one instance and be slang and in another be formal, without a spelling change. you could say "this is a gay day" and mean "this is a happy day" and be using gay in its formal definition regardless of it being the same spelling as slang "gay" meaning "stupid." you admitted yourself the guy used it in slang form.

Mkay, but look at it this way. What about the word nigger? It's a very offensive word, it was used to refer to black people, but people also use it as slang for "dude" or "friend". But reguardless of what it means if you say it in school or if someone whos not black says it they get chewed out for being racist. The "slang" meaning of gay is also negative so its offensive in any context, except the secondary definition "happy".
