  • @rockyraccoon4 Thank you brother. Very happy to hear that i could have help

  • @gavkoo ive been subscribed to your channel for some time now and inspired by your videos and tutorials i decided to make myself a double sided strop and use your tips for convexing my knives...FREAKING HELL i never knew my blades would ever see that kind of edge, Thank you so much for sharing... my next goal is to get in line to own some of your work.. Thanks again..!!!

  • I went to the hardware store to get some buffing compound, but there were tons of different brands and grits available. You said you like the "green" but not to go by color alone. Would you be willing to tell us the brand or girt to look for? Like a range for coarse/medium/fine? Thanks!

  • dose he ship to australia ?

  • @TheHaydoz i honestly dont know man. best is to ask him. he has the message system on his website and hes very good with replying back.

  • @gavkoo thanx heaps and merry xmas

  • Hey gavkoo i bought a strop from him and he is VERY nice. He told me when i should be at my house and he wished me happy birthday. If any of you people want a strop these are very good

  • wouldnt spend the money there asking for something i can make my self with research on different types of learthers but thats just my thoughts

  • where do you get a colored strop like yours? do you put the coloring on yourself? i have no idea what im doing here haha i just want to buy a strop and i see all these people with different sides and colors but on the websites they are all one color, great video by the way

  • @ozzyfreak994 its the different grid compounds that colors the leather. its made that way so you know what grid you have on what side...

  • @gavkoo but where do i find one of these strops with the different colors

  • @ozzyfreak994 no, all the strops are same when you buy them, just clean brown leather. the compounds have the colors. different color = different grit...

  • @ozzyfreak994 the link in the description is to very nice guy who sell very well made strops and they come with the componds so check him out if you're interested in buying a strop.

  • This vid is very helpful. Thank you for explaining why there is conflicting info about white compound being medium or fine.

I would like to know more about the stropping manuals that you mentioned & where I can find them. Are they online?

  • @ibrahimhemp dont think it has a life spam. As long ad its intact and you clean it once in a while it will probaby outlast us :)

  • hi

i would like to know "how long is the stropping leather are in condition to replace a new one?

is there anyway to tell that it need to be replace?

    thankyou

  • Great video bro. Thanks.

  • question: is this a substituted for regular knife sharpening (with a japense stone or whatever type of stone), or is this after sharpening with a stone? tnx, love the video, ur english and explanation is better than a one who speaks english well.

  • @chrisdeli7158 well if you wont let your knives go dull very very much, stropping is actually all you will need. adn even if you do need a little more abrasive then just leather with compound, some fine wet/dry sandpaper is actually all you need. i dont use stones myself. all i use are sandpapers and strops...

  • Great video bro, very nice strop

  • i picked up some green compound and a cheap strop from my local woodworking store. im not sure how fine the green compound i got really is but it got my bk7 extremely sharp! i sharpened my delica with it as well and got it almost to factory sharp again. Great vids gavkoo!

  • StropMan.com (Rob) is an super nice guy. He made me a custom mini strop for out in the field. Just got it in today! Sick review Gav

  • Great video man

  • that was a great video, i cant wait for my strop to come! and i didnt know you had to clean them, so that was really helpfull.

  • @thomassmyth65 thank you tom! yeah its good to clean it once in a while.

  • Very good vid. Those box strops are cool.peace

  • The 4 sided strop seems interesting! I like kyleys long table strop too, great for long strokes!

  • ✭✭✭✭✭

  • is this better then a knife sharpener? I learn a lot from your channel! Thanks! PS Looks like i am making a strop!!

  • @Lookinformemarbles i havent used knife sharpener in months brother. trust me, once you go stropping you 'll never go back :) lol

  • do you think the dremel polish would work a strop?

  • @toamakuta you mean that little polishing material they give you with dremel bit sets? yeah its definitely same material as stropping compound...

  • I really need a leather stop.. maybe i'll make one but first i need some leather and compound is no where to be found here :(.

  • @TheLazySpoiledKitty start asking people around for trades and stuff you can do yourself for items you want from the states bro.

  • when storing the grit sticks inside the wooden block be careful that the coarser grits don't contaminate the finer grits. I would recommend storing the grit sticks separately. Great viddies. Nice product. Thanks a lot. I'll look at the strop man website.

  • @mickthepope it wont make such a difference anyway man. you contaminating the strops with the blade itself anyway and its not like it will ruin anything anyway.

  • Thumbz'd up.

  • Thank you gavkoo iv been trying to find a site like his for a long while so thank you

  • Hey gav is 1500 grit sandpaper as fine as stropping with leather?

  • @PavlovSandor sandpaper is little different. it will do a good share of work tho. you dont really need a strop if you learn to do the same thing with the super fine sanpapers. but strop is actually easier to work with... make your own bro, its very easy and costs next to nothing

  • i believe black compound is coarse, white is medium/fine and green is ultra fine/polishing

  • @Jaiofspam like i said in the video. its never the same. depends on the manufacturer.

  • Thanks for the heads up. I am thinking about getting the "Billy" Strop

  • @JohnReviewer112 sharpening

  • I got my 4 stroke on wednesday and now i have mirror edges on all my knives. great product.

  • Yet again brother, great information and no BS! seems to be a sweet product. I think companies would be silly Not to offer discounts on products that you review bro, they sure would sell more!
