Was the manager at this Mobil petriol station up the side of Euston Station when this video was made .Ian was a really nice guy and i remember the day well.Stiff records had booked the site for a couple of hours but believe it or not it took eight hours of filming to make this 3 minute clip . you will notice some of the shots are in daylight and some in darkness . RIP Ian sadly missed by many
BARAKA!!!!! Argggghhhhhh.... brings a tear to my eye this song, its not emotion, its the two full busted ribacages, i'm gonna put some wolverine on this playlist, wolvies just tuff enuff for Ian, bitta Madness on here too, w...
I went to the V & A museum last saturday and there was a display of london posters near the entrance to the toilets. Ian's poem for the Bus driver (written as a version of the Lord's Prayer) was pretty much facing the entrance to the loo. Not the swishest space to pay homage to Ian and the others, but cos it was by the kazi there were loads of people reading it. A dad read it to his family. Loads more people listened grinning as the dad read it out. Lovely job. Ian Dury, top poet.
YEAH MATE! I love this tune but i never thought they made a video for it!! A swift 5 stars and a favourite is in order i think :] Thanks for uploading this pal.
along with bob marley he was the artist with the most to say and make it funky at the same time. the thing i find odd about ian was that sid vicous of the sex pistols said that it was ian who inspired him to be a punk cos the two just wouldnt seem to fit together would they!
yeah on the vid it's spelled 'superman's big sister' ( 0:21 )... and i just reallised what you meant, i miss-read the comment. i'm sure i've heard something about it being spelled wrong before.... probably heard Norm talking about it once :P
hey, i recorded this Rage the very same night this video was played and still have the clip. it was a friday night and i was staying at my aunty's place in 1991 and they just randomly played this clip along with blondie, pretenders, elvis costello....
Genius ! Punk Vaudaville . Was lucky enough to see them when they came over to NZ many many many years ago. One of the best , great band all round

You can't listen to Ian Dury and not crack a grin. Such brilliant rhymes, great beats and hilarious delivery.
Is it a comedy routine or the best musical experience around? Why not both?

co-written by Wilko (difficult to miss his short appearance in the vid!)
string arrangements by Ivor Raymode (who also did them for the lyrically resonant "F***ing Ada"

Genius. Where do people manage to resurrect this stuff? Only Dury could make a 100e Prefect look good on the telly, hehe.

Luckily they do so younger people can enjoy these videos. Some of Ian's videos are shown on VH1 Classic. Cool stuff!

Funny, but the block of flats at 0:02 remind me of tower block (aka Star Tower) in Joensuu, Finland.

Its 'Suepermans' Big Sister, by the way. Notice its spelt wrong on the vid too. Didn't want to get sued by DC comics apparently!!
Excellent subject too... small bloke having a relationship with a domineering larger lady!!!
billybadbrakes 3 years ago
do you mean on this vid?
because it's spelled right on here :P
nice info though... how did you know about the DC thing?
pandemicbassist 2 years ago
eh?!?! ....it has the wrong spelling in the title above and on the vid!?!? ..i.e. needs an extra 'e' between the 'u' and the 'p'!
...Still got the vinyl 7" somewhere in the loft.
The DC thing is just something I've known since I was your age. A long long time ago!!
