wow it's not all compressed to make the quiet parts as loud as the loud parts. HOW DIFFERENT from the dynamically obliterated junk the record companies have turned all modern music into.
Ok.. Some corrections are in order. That song was not written for Mavis. She just does the best version. No one can touch it! Burt wrote that song for Angie Dickenson. The first person to sing this song was Dusty Springfield. You should look her up as she was one of Burt's muses.
@rajtennis Dionne Warwick then Lou Johnson were first two people to record this song. Again let's not forget Hal David wrote the lyrics Burt wrote the music. Dusty has a great verison but the Dionne version was a minor pop hit and bigger R&B hit until Luther Vandross recording. But many, many artist recorded the song.
Mine too. As good as Luther's was, it could not touch Mavis' when she was in her prime. It was as if that song was written especially for her. I listen to her original version all the time.
This must be from the show that David Sanborn had on (very) late night TV. Too bad the show lasted only about five minutes. They presented some great music, like this. Mavis Staples doesn't sound in great voice, but even at 70% she out-sings almost everyone else, and I think this is Bacarach/David's best song.
Nice story friend! i'm From Argentina, and like so much this music compilation. Argentina used to have great moment with argentines artist in the late '80, But Is always the same, there are some other programs that are more important for the audience, consuming rubish, and different types of bad programs. This precious programs are always boring for stupid people.
