  • Amy would have it.

  • If I was you I would get the BUS LOL

  • @nylonTS MRS SCHUMANN!

  • "I can't see the appeal - come back in a year nobody'll even remember them!"

Just like the head of Decker Records saying "We don't really rate this group The Beatles - we don't think they're going to make it!"

  • @Inkyminkyzizwoz It's Decca

  • "If I were you I'd get the bus!"

    "MRS SCHUMANN!"

    "Ooh 'eck!"

  • "I cut the crusts off for you."

"You didn't have to do that."

"Yes I did - they was mouldy!"

  • "You are an employee of British Railways - a public servant - and a public servant's job is...?"

    "To serve the public."

Try telling that to David Cameron!

  • "It's not the first time you've encouraged customers to go elsewhere, is it?"

Funnily enough, one time I got on a bus and the driver said to someone behind me 'You should be taking your car to work!' - nothing like encouraging business!"

  • "They planted the name Hatley - except half of 'em died. Within a week we had a station called Hitler!"

I thought station names were blanked out during the war?

  • @Inkyminkyzizwoz What's more, they wouldn't have done things like planting flowers - the time and resources would've been more urgently needed in the war effort!

  • "If I were you I wouldn't start from here!"

I don't know if this is intended to be set in the same area that it was actually filmed in (the station was Arley on the Severn Valley Railway), but if it is then it wouldn't be that difficult to get to Scarborough - change at Kidderminster, then Birmingham New Street and then York.

  • @Inkyminkyzizwoz Actually, before this line closed as part of BR there may have been through trains from Arley to Birmingham, so you'd only have needed to make two changes!

  • "I'm on rails - I ain't got a lot of choice where I'm goin'!"

Funnily enough, there was a clue in The Railway Magazine crossword once that said 'Something a train driver doesn't have to do' and the answer was 'Steer'!

  • "Would you like me to change the sand in the egg timer while I'm at it?"

  • "They're not dwarf marigolds, they're ordinary marigolds - flamin' caterpillars have been at 'em!"

  • "You keep your 'ands orf my levers" - LOL!
