Oh come on people, let's b practical here. It is a beauty contest, looks are as much a part of the thing as intelligence. Truth is, it is difficult to find a dark complected woman who is properly proportioned and thus eligible for miss world, dark women tend to have legs that are long in comparison to their mid sections. And it is easier to find a mixed, light complected pretty Jamaican girl. Yeah, i said it, the truth is out, alot of 'normal' Jamaican women are good looking for the dance hall!

the interview is not on you tube but i have have seen on more than one tv programme, i am not bashing her but she need a more commanding voice, she sound like an American teen, she did this slang, "Dah" i was saying gross. the only thing that could allow a short person like her to be seen.

Her mother, Marie Clare Delapenha (daughter of one time sports caster Lindy Delapenha) placed 2nd in the Miss Jamaica World Beauty contest in 1980. Michelle Harris had won the competition that year.
Marie Clare would later gain fame in the Nadinola television commercial of the 1980's.

Also Jade Grant(1st princess)her mother too was a former Ms jamaica contestant.I think she made it to the finals.So this is not the reason why she won.
