  • What I like about these guys is they approach religion. They're right, religious people don't care for the opinions of atheists or agnostics, heck they used to burn "heretics" like that for centuries. So why is it when rational people pick at religion, people get sensitive and call us mean.

  • It's pretty easy to be atheist now, until you're on your death bed begging for forgiveness.

  • @klutz94306 forgiveness of what?

  • @klutz94306 You are describing a psychological phenomenon of desperation brought about by fear and an inability to alter the chances of one's survival/impending death, as well as latent cultural/filial influences of a specific dogma perhaps from early childhood. I agree with you that some people become desperate in extreme circumstances or near death and appeal to an invisible force to intervene when they perceive there is nothing they can do themselves. Does it prove a god, let alone your god?

  • Jesus for team christianity, Mohammad for team islam....can anybody tell me the mascot for team judaism?

  • @curetheingorant Moses, I believe, but don't quote me on that.

  • Devout atheists are just as moronic as devout christians.

  • Bill Maher is right about the army of people on board with him. I mean, look at all the religious and atheist videos on YouTube. The number of atheists is clearly starting to build up.

  • @smikesmike05 Is it building up, or are we just being more open and honest about it? Losing the fear of "what will people think?!"

  • @419Films well, both actually. I, for example, wasn't always an atheist, I was religious until I reached the age of reason. But it's true that in today's society, plenty of people are atheists but are simply too afraid to admit it.

  • @smikesmike05 Having said that, it is still difficult to have a conversation/debate/discussion about religion as a topic at the average coffee shop and not have the other patrons stop talking, freezing up and getting all tense - apparently topics about how our species is developing and what is limiting it is taboo but the yakkers in the average coffee shop are free to talk about their last wart treatment or how much they hate a fellow human being at their place of work/school. That's fine.

  • This guy is just milkin' it off from the whole debate around religion which sparked when the world trade center events happened. He's like "hey, this event has just created a whole debate around religion, let me get in on this and make a movie seeing as how people are already so interesedt.......free exposure and easy money....woot woot". Haha, he says you can't have respect.....don't flatter yourself buddy.

  • @bobbobby1987 Why is it religious people tend to make up weak excuses to not listen to someone. Are you too stupid to just sit there for a minute and listen to what someone has to say? Other than your preacher or crazy family members.

  • @trom2004 I think it depends on the topic. If someone wants to mock religion and find bad things in the world and blame them on religion...to not be rude, it is generally best to just avoid listening to that person. As I stated in my post, this guy was a nobody until the world trade center event and then he kind of just appeared. Now if YOU stop to think for a minute, you'll realize that you shouldn't take this guy seriously. He's not intelligent. Just some guy trying to make money.

  • Bill Maher really nails it sometimes, when it comes to religion. This was a great and hilarious interview.

  • All Bill Maher did was set up straw men and knock them down. Why didnt he talk to any scholars like Scott Hahn or Fr. Robert Barron? It was a one sided movie and he didnt approach it with any objectivity at all.

  • @christsjedi from what i saw, he let them showcase their own stupidity. but if you've got some examples id love to hear them.

i don't think it was one-sided, but you're right. i think it would have had to have been a longer, more serious movie had scholars been included. what maher did was seek answers to the very basic questions about the system of beliefs, not what potentially intelligent and benevolent scholars can create for themselves and sell as validity out of those beliefs.

  • @christsjedi as he stated in other interviews, its not really a full fledged documentary, he's a comedian

  • fuck page rage

  • I love Bill Maher. I wish he was Canadian

  • @TheHurrderp lol for what purpose? hes awesome but him being Canadian would do what..exactly?

  • @TheHurrderp He's Swiss, and we have to accept that.

  • @TheHurrderp I'm sure he does too

  • @TheHurrderp Bill Maher is a reptlian shapshifting super jew with no soul.

  • @Drahgoon LMAO HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!

  • @businessim08 Its true you can see him shapeshifting @ 4:24.

  • crocs ftw!

  • As long as people genuinely care about being truthful what harm can possibly come of it? I do care if what I believe in is real or not and I welcome anyone to investigate my faith and tell me their opinions. I used to believe being gay was a sin but after debating online I have changed my mind completely, and now think some biblical doctrine is very evil. But I still want to have hope for the future because it gives me inner strength to be good. Call me a fool, but its the best choice imo.

  • It is not possible to prove the existence of God, thats irrefutable. If God were real he probably would say the reason why he hides himself from people is to show people who think they are his equal what they are really like in his absence with the knowledge of good and evil. So in a nutshell faith in God proves to the world who you really are on the inside. Are you willing to hate/murder people (like gays) to get to heaven? Your faith will show that if you are.

  • "I tend to find most Christians tend to be either a) unintelligent or b) hypocrites "

How did atheists become so stupid and comfortable with hasty generalizations?

  • @matako07 Hasty? Religious people have had the last few thousand years to prove they should not be characterized as a)unitelligent (the world is 6000 years old, the talking snake, bread & wine into body & blood) FAIL! or b) hypocrites (the golden rule (unless they disagree with your god then kill them all in god's name), gays are an abomination & unnatural (even though god made you in his image & there are lots of gays in the animal kingdom) again, FAIL. How did you come to your generalization?

  • The way i look at it is, believe what you wanna believe, just don't try and force it on me. Thats where the troubles and wars and shit start. Ya I'm an atheist, so what. If you think I'm going to go to hell, what's it to you? People confuse belief with certainty

  • I tend to find most Christians tend to be either a) unintelligent or b) hypocrites - I still think God slaps his forehead everytime Oprah or some televangelist pulls another stunt...

  • @bored1ca

I find most atheists to be either a) unintelligent or b) hypocrites.

  • @dragonofblood and just how many unintelligent hypocritical atheists have you found? Oh sorry to disappoint you, I'm NOT an atheiest - just an agnostic who borders on Buddhism...

  • @bored1ca Unintelligent? no. Hypocritical? yes, ive known many atheists to be as thick headed as any christians in the sense that they do the whole "if you don't believe what i believe then your stupid"

  • The fact that they're apparently "open" to exploring the real "god" and mock current religious beliefs is highly irrational. From their standpoint, how can they define what "rational" behavior is for a "god"? Why is it that current religions are "irrational"? They have some reference to how a god *should* act? Huh? Who's being guided by fairy tales again?

  • Sanity is so bloody refreshing. I have to see this movie.

  • Sapping mental energy away from a resounding Political Critique of NeoLiberalism and its military strategy in the Bush Doctrine. But of course-Many Atheists genuinely believe that NeoLiberalism is "the only system that works" and "brings stability" to the 3rd world.A shocking trend that should spark a discussion on Atheist Delusions. For now we have Hitchens-a revered Atheist intellectual-Leading the charge for a preemptive strike against Iran using the same spurious set of pretexts as Iraq2

  • Naturally many atheists will insist that the NeoLiberals take their orders from their God...as if our Economic System is a religious system.OK. That doesn't really explain Chris Hitchen's robust support for the BUSH DOCTRINE in Iran. Many "liberal" inyellectuals insist that Iran is a Theocratic "dictatorship". Even though everyone agreed the last Iranian election was free and fair-right up until- Ahmadinejad won with a 2 to 1 plurality. The best minds in the world are sapping mental energy away..

  • If I were a NeoConservative apparatchik -I'd relish people like Dawkins and Hitchens. They reawaken a pseudo-intellectual compulsion to blame EVERYTHING on religious.Of course organized religion has its problems-paedophilia,the wack theory of creation, etc. But we are living in a world NeoLIberal GLOBAL Economics-whereby BILLIONs of people are forced into starvation..so we can have cheap appliances and Tshirts. To have the best minds avert their mentals power solely on religion is very helpful

  • Muslims do not believe that the Prophet Muhammad "flew up to heaven bodily". His grave is well known and visited to this day. If this guy wants to criticize religion he should study it a bit.

  • "who's saying..." ? Bill Maher said it on his own show -he shouted down a couple of his guests who dared to bring up Basic COLONIAL History and IMPERIALISM.

Vietnam and the Korean War easily blot out the Crusades in material and physical scale...more high explosives were dropped in Vietnam than the TOTAL tonnage dropped in WW2 x2.

Just in case you are just as vapid as Maher... I do not defend Religion.

I merely point to the last 150 years of wars that make the Crusades look like a picnic.

  • 2 Million North Korean civilians fire bombed in the Korean war.3.5 million Vietnamese murdered/bombed/tortured. Twice the total tonnage of high explosives than ALL of WW2 dropped on a tiny little 3rd world back water .World War 1 and 2...millions more dead/murdered.

How much FAITH (irrationality) does it take to BELIEVE all this was because of..CHUCKLES...religion.

Clearly the Atheists are here to help us be distracted from a deeper critique of the REAL Problems of the last 150 years.

  • @matako07 who's saying that all wars are caused by religion? i dont remember hearing him state this. however religion DOES account for ALOT of violence. no ones saying without religion the world would be perfect and peaceful.

  • these guys are typical useless non-Liberals.

The largest wars to date-have been about IMPERIALISM...Capitalism.

Access to cheap labour and resources.

For these KNOBS to make a whole doc. build around such a useless topics only demostrates the uselessness of main stream media and the fake "liberals" who represent the NeoCons...ASSHOLES.

  • Whoever SKS4000 is i'm surprised your even smart enough to type a comment people like you are so idiotic you don't even know how to communicate a rational idea to them. YOU are pathetic you dumbass ahaha

  • Atheism is a growing religion.

  • @Maxobillion < Agree, good thing is you may still pray in your personal space without obligation of going to some place of worship on Fri/Sat or Sun - be free.

If God is a mean judgmental thing even after you being a nice person then f*&k him/her.

I always ask a religious zealot : what is so special about your religion/sect out of 3k/100k other on this planet ? They often say theirs is the best ! Some say, these are different paths to same destination. So religions are not sacred.

  • @Maxobillion look up a definition of religion.

  • Tow middle aged white guys? Aren't they both Jews (racially speaking.)

  • Your spelling reflects you intelligence.....

  • @extech921 It's called Youtube.

I don't usually make typos but given the informal nature of the comments section found in websites, I didn't bother proofreading.

You are correct in pointing out my spelling error but my observation about his statement "Two middle aged white guys" and the fact that they are of Jewish origin is still true.

  • Maher is a laugh... and so is whatever that thing he brought with him.

Pathetic, Bill, when you have to start turning over dumpsters for new friends.. at least, I'm HOPING you're just... friends...

    *Eeeeewwwwwwww*

    X{

  • @Gord2011 The phrase is "one and the same", not "one in the same". Think about it.

  • I love George Snuffleupagus.... ;0]

  • not to take away from the creative and intelligent comments being made on this video but.

Larry Charles looks like such a baller.

  • Oh, look! Strombo's House of Infidels is featuring Billy-Bob Maher! And, he's brought one of his little... uh... friends... with him? What's this, Bill... your dad? Evil twin?

You can bet we're in for an informative and impartial review of Christianity, tonight!

  • There is The Presence (Big God), God of Light, The God and Goddess of Darkness, Jesus and a Guy on a Throne and perhaps many other Entities. There is a God of this Universe who killed the dinosaurs with a big rock. To read the Bible and Solve it is for Satan not for Christians. I think people should take the positive out of the Bible and follow what is perfect in it. It is a book that echoes many peoples beliefs concerning how to live. Chris Curtis facebook

  • Atheism and its political love child Communism have done more damage in the past hundred years than any religion.

  • @cyberslayer002

Like what? Atheists didn't start the crusades, I would love to see some examples.

  • satanists, all of em

  • Religoin is just another form of brain-washing. To blindly belive in somthing because someone told u too is just foolish. It is also the main cause of poverty and war. Come on open your eyes you foolish people.

  • Saw the film and although it was humorous it was really poorly edited, it was really onesided, and it only focused on the fringes and then concluded that religion was going to cause nuclear war. The same could be said of atheismn in how stallin and mau killed the most people of all.

  • @planes3333 Stalin was a seminary student who passed numerous Politburo articles ordering the NKVD to release Orthodox Christians and let the church do as it pleased on USSR soil, and Mao was a Confucian whose beliefs were made evident in his merging of Confucius with Marx. Try some research instead of anti-atheist pop culture myths and propaganda.

  • @TithonusSyndrome

Whats NKVD ? anyways I believe both were atheists who did not believe in God, (most communists are right) , humanity is broken everywhere, Mahr seems to think atheists have a clean slate and they dont, we all mess up!

  • @planes3333 The NKVD was the Soviet intelligence agency during the second world war. This is overwhelmingly obvious to any student of history who does not allow themselves to be misled by pop culture myths, like the patently false notion that Orthodox Stalin and Confucian Mao were "atheists".

  • @TithonusSyndrome

Yeah I guess there has never been an underground soviet church persecuted and tortured, it was all made up in the book I read about a ex soviet soldiers experience in Russia. That would be obviouse to anyone though who did some real research! Yeah right Stallin was a nice guy, ooohhh kay can I have some of that acid ur on sounds like some nice "grateful dead"

your a clown if you think atheists are in anyway exempt from the brutal murderous acts that religions had wake up!

  • @planes3333 I suppose you think that the Council of the CC Politburo convening on November 11, 1939 didn't exist, and that the ban against the church was lifted? That the anti-Church measures weren't put in place by LENIN, and that they weren't reversed by the far more religious (and bloodthirsty) Stalin?

I'll "wake up" once you go back in time and somehow magically force atheists to commit massacres that are even 1/100th as horrid as religious ones.

  • @TithonusSyndrome

    ok take care : )

  • @planes3333 I accept your concession.

  • as i have stated in previous videos, people can do good and evil in the name of religion. It depends on how you interpret it. Im christ, but im not gonna go around saying convert or die. so its unfair to judge everyone who is religious in the same way. Thats like me saying every atheist believes darwins theory of natural selection to the hilt and so they believe in hitlers theory of a master race. That makes no sense. So you cant pass blanket judgment on a whole group

  • the Jesus Freaks are dumb people so they will follow the Bible even if they know those contradictions !

  • I'm so happy to be a Canadian ... born 'n raised in Toronto. Religion doesn't play as big as a role here ... as it does in the US.

  • OMG. Larry's wearing crocs.

  • @CagedagainstAmachine: What the hell are you going on about? Did you actually read my comment. And yes, I am quite aware of what Bill Maher's day job is. He's saying some things in this interview for the CBC that would be quite controversial in the U.S if it was an American network, why?. Because the U.S is a very religious country, Canada is not , and it really isn't very controversial at all to say things like that, here...get it now.

  • Comment removed

  • in canada religion is not so serious, love this country

  • @nestorrfortuna what cuz im from canada and its pretty serious but im a west coaster so maybe thats why

  • @nestorrfortuna yeah but in this country we don`t let hate people, who would burn other religion book, and disturb the peace

  • @nestorrfortuna mayb church shuld tuffen up and bash up all u atheists

  • @fgh899 yes... a non-sentient, let alone non-moving pile of building materials should beat us up? I still dont really understand this comment..

  • I'm getting sick and tired of Bill Maher's disrespect for religions, Christianity specially. If you do not agree with something and see things a different way, that's fine, but don't make fun of it and call it fairy tales. Not only is it disrespectful, it's totally ignorant. He says he only makes fun of the extremists, yet he makes fun of the entire religion and its entire basis, and calls Anyone who believes in it stupid and irrational, meanwhile he believes his views are right, double standard

  • @egyptian420 Umm he said that he does NOT only focus on extremists. He says that anyone that believes in religion is by definition extremist. Also about his "disrespect for religion". Take a good look at any religion. The fundamental part of any religion is "all the other religions are retarded but we must be right." He's just giving back a taste of their own medicine. Christianity is probably one of the worst religions for this.

  • @tippmannshooter agreed, the faithful call the doubtful ignorant, yet it seems to be the different religions that are ignorant of each other, and the vast similarities between them, where as one small difference in opinion between which building you pray in makes you a blasphemer...... and i wonder if "egyptian420" has even taken the time to watch the movie, or would just rather prejudge based on his own ignorance.

  • Its interesting, I always see the highest rated comments on these kinds of video on Youtube being Atheistic in nature, and yet we only make up a teeny tiny fraction of the worlds population...Somethings gotta give. Time to come out of the closet, brothers and sisters, the world has lived under the dogmas of ancient books of mysticism for FAR too long.

  • @tipoomaster whenever we try, some crazy anarchist does something stupid.

    : / Or maybe it's just me. It's sad, really, I know. I try! =_=;;

  • I used to refer to it as "sky-wizard", but I like his term a lot better. Space god it is then.

  • Organized religion is false.

    That is all.

  • Whether a god is real or not, religion left a very long trail of destruction through history.

  • @cookiemaster888 Human selfishness in the pursuit of power has left a greater trail of destruction. Broken relationships and families has left an even greater trail of destruction.

  • @cookiemaster888 The question of whether of not God is real is the whole point. That's the whole reason why all this destruction is so despicable, because God most certainly ISNT real. People have people slaughtering each other for centuries over who claims to have the right way to communicate with their immaginary friend(s).

  • @cookiemaster888 The question of whether of not God is real is the whole point. That's the whole reason why all this destruction is so despicable, because God most certainly ISNT real. People have been slaughtering each other for centuries over who claims to have the right way to communicate with their immaginary friend(s).

  • Why is it so important to own the truth and tell others they don't have it ? Pride. Why do Atheists consider religous beliefs to be fairy tales ? Intellectual pride. Why do religious people don't listen to Atheists when they say sensible things ? Religious fear.

  • "(Conquered) people pray to the gods of their conquerors." ~Immortal Technique

    ^^^The goddamn truth right there.

  • Mr Average, you know that a response will likely be that as you refuse to believe in God of the Bible, you won't have the revelation to fully understand the Word no matter how much you use it to prove your point.

There's a wriggling-away answer for everything rational that you might throw at them even from their own document. I applaud your answer but advise you to not waste your time. Religion would never have something like reason get in its way.

  • religion is for weak minds

    grow up

  • If you'd looked carefully you'd see that I was in agreement.

    Develop reading skills.

  • sorry I replied to the wrong person

  • just watched a Doc on Mormons. They're mean little bastards.

  • @septip123 what was it called? I'd like to see it. : )

  • You can't prove there is a god but you can't prove there isn't. I consider myself agnostic but leaning toward athiesm. but what they said is true about how most thiests think that their religion is the truth and everyone who does not agree should be treated like dogs.

  • @alchemywulf

Bullshit if you really think that then fine but I am christian and am friends with all types ok. What a brood sweeping bigoted generalisation man check your head, then again maybe check your flea collar XD

  • @planes3333

wow, you are just the average religeous person, always saying that everyone can think what they want but then turning around whenever someone says anything but what they believe and treat them like shit, and besides, just assuming I'm a man is kind of being a bigot yourself. so why don't you slam your head on your little "Holy" book and cry yourself to sleep when you get your head out of the fucking clouds and let people believe what they want. go fuck yourself you idiot.

  • Comment removed

  • @planes3333

how old are you? Twelve? I have never read such a ridiculous mix of words that you might call an insult. And why even bother? Why do you have to get so butt hurt about another's opinion anyway? Btw, how the fuck do you smell someone over the fucking internet? Get your brain checked, you need it fixed.

  • @alchemywulf

Yeah I actually should not have said those things it was rude and I apologise. I guess I am sensative to the ideology of Jesus, and the help I have been given through the spirit. I was a junkie and found new life, I also being an avid reader and lover of sports see people I admire like JRR Tolkien, CS Lewis, Manny Paquia, Fedor EMilienko, Augustine, and so many others follow and believe in Jesus. So yeah my brain is on the mend (meth is brutal) and I'll try and be more polite.

  • @planes3333

I accept your apology, and I too should apologise, my parents brought me up better than that, and besides, it's idiotic to get into youtube comment fights anyway.

  • @alchemywulf

Ahhh cheers!! I really respect and thank you for being kind and forgiving. My parents brought me up to be respectful to and I so often miss the mark but their is also that saying its not how many times a person falls/flails but how many times they get up. SOunds to me that you are passionate and bright, take it easy eh (Canada)LOL

  • @alchemywulf That's an incredibly wrong stance to take, as well as an intellectual cop-out. You're not agnostic towards teapots floating around Mars, are you? Unicorns?

  • @tot22

I don't see any. Besides the way you worded it sounds like you believe that tea pots float around mars. Try better wording next time, or just read your comment over.

  • @alchemywulf No, I worded it perfectly. Either you're too thick to understand (not surprising) or you're just trying to dodge an intellectual truth. Either way you're a retard.

  • @tot22

Go back under your bridge. Or back to your mom's basement where you belong. And obviously you don't know what a retard is. What does the "tot" part in your username represent? Your intelligence level obviously.

  • @alchemywulf It's an acronym I've had for ages fool. Bring your ad hominem elsewhere.

Look up Russel's Teapot fallacy, it's a common arguement that atheists most commonly use against (retarded) agnostics.

  • @tot22

So I'm retarded for believing in science and not a giant man in the sky. Think about it seriously. Level your head off man, and how in the hell am I supposed to know your stupid acronyms? Please just smash your head in with that stupid book already.

  • @alchemywulf No, you're retarded for relying on ad hominems and changing the topic (the acronym is completely unrelated to the discussion).

I'm also saying you don't REALLY believe in science unless you're an atheist. Anything less and you're a failure.

  • @tot22

Trying to get you to listen to reason is harder than trying to reason with a wall. But the wall is smarter. And agnostics think that there could be a god but also don't care if there isn't. You sir are the failure, have fun fucking yourself to dogs fucking each other like you do every night. There's no point in even responding to your stupid ramblings.

  • @alchemywulf Wrong. agnostics feel that the truth about gods is unknowable, not that they think there might be a god or not. Agnosticism has nothing to say whether God exists. only that we cant know one way or the other.

  • @Demockracy69

You realize that people can change their beliefs right? when I wrote most of those comments I was agnostic leaning towards atheism, I changed my views based on facts were brought up, hence my change in status to being an athiest, so yes I changed, not all of my posts were on the same day. Oh, and I don't appreciate being called pathetic, it was your misunderstanding not mine.

  • @alchemywulf I didn't call you pathetic, learn to differentiate between comments.

  • @Demockracy69

I was responding to another argument with some idiot and must have hit the respond button on your comment, silly me.

  • @alchemywulf not likely since i was the only one to mention anything about someone being pathetic. nice try though.

  • @Demockracy69

One: You know the word "pathetic" is common right? Two: This isn't the oly video I've commented on recently, so yeah I get alot of dumbasses calling me pathetic. And finally three, what is your problem anyway? You make it sound like I insulted you or something.

  • @alchemywulf No I'm not insulted, merely amused with your continued effort to make excuses.

  • @Demockracy69

Riiiiiigggghhhhtttttt, look, belive what the hell you want, But in the meantime I'm going to actually do something with my life other than argue with you. So in other words: Go fuck yourself. Have a nice day.

  • @tot22 logical fallacy. science isn't a belief. its empirical testing of the physical universe, you should know this. to accuse someone of ad hominem while at the same time misrepresenting is truly pathetic least to say dishonest.

  • @alchemywulf its good to be looking at both sides, but it's not our job to prove god doesn't exist. They proposed the idea, so they must show some evidence and prove it.

There is no evidence that says unicorns don't exist, and yet we dismiss them as make believe because there is no evidence FOR them. Same principle but different conclusion, just because "faith" is involved. "Faith" is a false value.

  • @trevsiemens

Sure I don't agree with you but good point. But it is my job to decide if I want to believe or not, If I end up rotting in hell then it's my own fault, if nothing happens when I die then that's how it is.

  • Bill Maher is lying. I am a Christian, and I am rational. It is possible.

  • jrichard1977, No it's not possible to be Christian and Rational, if you have actually read your bible and thought it through.

Clearly you are ether irrational or you have not read you OT and NT and thought about it.

I suspect the latter, I come across so many Christians who are so lazy they never read their books! Yet I, an Atheist have read the OT, NT and Koran cover to cover! I was Agnostic until I read those books, now I'm 1000% certain that it's all made up bullshit!

  • I didn't know one could be 1000% certain about anything. That sounds irrational. :)

Of course it's possible. Merriam-Webster's dictionary defines "rational" as "having reason or understanding". I obviously have reason for my faith and understanding about it.

Please define what YOU mean by rational, and let's see if I fit the description or not.

Also, how can you suspect (or pre-judge) things about me when you know NOTHING about me except that I'm a Christian. Sounds irrational!

  • jrichard1977 , of course I'm just emphasizing my certainty by saying 1000%, that's not irrational it's just an overstatement to underscore something.

Rather than define what being rational is, lets state what is irrational.

It's irrational to believe in something which does not exist. so believing in the tooth fairy, Santa clause and God are all irrational.

Yes I can pre-judge you based on one fact, you say you are a Christian, please give me evidence that this Christ ever existed!

  • Oh, no, you're not one of those atheists that think Jesus never existed, are you?

You can ask 95% of unbiased scholars out there, and there is a consensus that he definitely existed. The question of who he was is what is in debate. Of course, many think he was just a man, and others like me believe he is God.

You don't have to look very hard to find really great evidence for the existence of Jesus. Just google it, and you'll see plenty.

Not fair to lump God with tooth fairy!

  • jrichard1977, why is it not fair to lump God in with the tooth fairy...? they are both myths!

On the subject of Jesus, actually, there is very little evidence he really existed outside of the bible, what is of real concern is that there are NO first hand accounts at all. But that is not the point, if he were some character in antiquity like Jason of the Argonauts then it would not matter. But Big claims require Big evidence. You have no strong evidence this man existed or was the son of God

  • Believing in something that doesn't exist, I agree, IS irrational.

If you think it's OK to lump God in with the tooth fairy and santa clause, then please provide proof that God DOESN'T exist.

  • jrichard1977 Oh good then you agree that you are irrational, thank you.

I'm afraid for your sake it does not work like that. If I say that Santa is real and he exists the burden of proof in on me and not you, to prove he does not exist.

    Do you see?

Therefore, the burden of proof is on you to prove that god exists.. If you can't then you are irrational.. PERIOD end of story YOU LOSE !

  • Yes, if you believe in Santa, the burden of proof is on you.

You see the world around and declare, "This is evidence that there is NO God." Well, I see the world around me and declare, "There MUST have been a Creator."

So, evidence of God's existence is very easy to see in my view. Just look around at anything.

Our houses, cars, electronics, etc. were all "created" by a "creator". Why are you so determined that the natural world can't be created by a creator?

  • jrichard1977,

"Yes, if you believe in Santa, the burden of proof is on you."

Therefore the burden of proof that God exists is on you!

  • jrichard1977, No there is no evidence of God's existence, you are a complete moron like most theists! You see something that looks amazing and say "God done it" How the fuck do you know, it could have been Aliens for all you know IDIOT!

  • The insults just make you look more foolish, dude.

Of course the burden of proof for God's existence is on the one who believes it.

I can give good reasons to believe God exists. However, in order to pick them apart, you will have to offer good reasons to believe God DOESN'T exist. Can you do this outside of hurling one insult after another?

  • @jrichard1977 What insults? I just made factual statements. You'll know it when I do start insulting you :)

You are irrational, I proved it, that's not an insult it's a statement of fact!

My evidence that God does not exist is there is NO evidence he does exist!

If I blaspheme, he does not strike me down as one would expect from the words in the buybull :)

  • "Our houses, cars, electronics, etc. were all "created" by a "creator". Why are you so determined that the natural world can't be created by a creator?"

You complete imbecile, Houses cars and electronics are made by human beings... I'm not sure what planet you come from but you need to reserve yourself a place in the nut house!

Most ridiculous thing I ever heard!

  • In philosophical debate, the first to hurl insults is usually the one who is going to LOSE!

Being such a non-imbecile and non-nut, you should know that.

    Thanks for the insult. :)

  • jrichard1977, who created the creator?

  • @jrichard1977 you just admitted your own irrationality. epic fail.

ps jesus and the tooth fairy are both characters, that's why they share the same category.

  • Go to Wikipedia and read about Jesus' historicity. All scholars agree that he existed.

Then read the same on the tooth fairy. You will not find one historian/scholar that believes the tooth fairy existed ever.

    Sorry, but you're just wrong.

  • @jrichard1977

    1) Wikipedia is not a peer reviewed scientific document. It's written by anyone!

    2) No not all scholars agree that Jesus existed historically, many disagree or at least say it's questionable.

    3) No written account of JC until around 50 to 100 years after he died ... oh dear :)

  • @jrichard1977 Tell me, what do your think of these subjects? where do you stand on..

    1) Infanticide

    2) Slavery

    3) Homosexuality

    Just wondering?

  • 1. Infanticide - It's murder.

    2. Slavery - It's wrong.

    3. Homosexuality - I believe it is wrong because I believe the Bible. However, it is not MORE wrong than sex outside of marriage.

What are your thoughts on those subjects?

  • @jrichard1977

Well your God committed infanticide and promoted it!

Slavery is all part of your religion, it condones slavery in the bible!

As for your bigoted view on Homosexuality, it's ridiculous, and outdated.

  • I didn't ask for your biased opinion on the Bible's presentation of these subjects. I asked what your thoughts were on the 3 topics. Please answer.

On my "bigoted view" of homosexuality being outdated and ridiculous, you're just giving your opinion. I can say your view is BIGOTED, RIDICULOUS, and OUTDATED. So what? Who cares?

  • @jrichard1977 I'm sure that Gay people care!

  • @jrichard1977

"The servant will be severely punished, for though he knew his duty, he refused to do it. "But people who are not aware that they are doing wrong will be punished only lightly. Much is required from those to whom much is given, and much more is required from those to whom much more is given." (Luke 12:47-48 NLT)"

  • @jrichard1977

"Babylon, you will be destroyed. Happy are those who pay you back for what you have done to us-- who take your babies and smash them against a rock. - Psalms 137:8-9

    "

  • If you want to air your opinions on the God of the Bible being pro-slavery, pro-infanticide, and outdated/bigoted/ridiculous view of homosexuality, then put your money where your mouth is and give me some Bible evidence that shows that God promotes these things.

If you can't do that, then stop talking damned nonsense.

  • @jrichard1977 You are far too easy, come on, you clearly have not read the bible then, have you?

  • I don't ca
