Man this movie sounds crazy to me: in november 2010 Krakatau woke up very angry with hundreds of strong eruptions from the big crater on top (not the small where you stand).
It was so powerful that we couldn't even land on the island! We watched everything from Rakata Island and at night we even saw some huge lightnings escaping from the crater with lava bombs, some of them falling in the sea I swear it's true!

I'm given to understand that it's not safe in general on the island. A film crew went there for PBS for a documentary and had the bad timing of arriving around the time of a minor eruption. The report looking back from the boat and seeing large boulders landing where they stood earlier.
I'm so jealous - 60 minutes to get there by boat! It took us about 6 hours and included a few interesting experiences! It is beautiful from the top and this is a great video to show that. Thankyou for posting it.
To get to the edge of the volcano from the northern shore takes about 45 minutes. It takes between 60-90 minutes by small boat to go from the west coast of Java to get to the Krakatau

You're brave. I'd have probably tried the same and I even dare to go up the Arenal volcano in Costa Rica. Yep I'm crazy like you haha...
