As a nurse I can assure you that surgical masks are not very effective. 95 % at best. There is one exception: the VIRA SHIELD made by Med Pro. It is 99.9% effective against flu's. It is a full P95 and is used by the military and heath care pros in high risk situations. You should have some of these at home as insurance beause if we do get a true pandemic you will not be able to get you hands on them.

thats why you should get n95 respirator masks d'uh.
surgical masks are made for surgery where it prevents you from infecting the patient. you breathe in from the seams and breathe out through the mask.
n95 masks completely seals your nose and mouth. so all breathing goes through the filter.
theres a reason those surgical masks are quite easy to breathe in.
