I'm a black man, and a new nurse. I was the only black man in my class, and the only nurse from my class that is STILL unemployed. They tell me I don't have enough experience, but they hire my white classmates. I am a 8 year military vet, I've served in Iraq. My wife is still military, but we are threatened to have our electricity cut off. As a man, what do you think I will do if my power goes out when its 30 degrees outside?? WHATEVER I HAVE TO!! @obscure323 Get this in my class of 20. Of the 8 black students, the females graduated the males did not! And there were four of them. I hope you are willing to take any job, b/c many hospitals are cutting back. CA is a tough market also.

The community "Leaders" are offended when personal responsibility is suggested, and "conservative" types scoff at commonsense suggestions like decriminalization of drugs, treatment in place of prison. The lady from Harlem who said she has to go way across town to get some fresh food at good prices; oh I can definitely relate to that. There is a store not far from me, but for the most part, I feel the prices there are too expensive when I can go to Walmart or a Brunos to buy; And the theory the man from Havard have, I feel there's some truth to it; too.

No joke. I taught on 114th in Harlem, and there were few stores with reasonably-priced vegetables. There was a supermarket on 116th, but it was always empty. it was as though nobody knew about it.

I was born in NYC, so I know what you mean; I remember when we were living in the Bronx, if my parents went out shopping, they drove out to a place called Hills, then Pathmark and bought our food. maybe once in a while, we'd go to the neighborhood stores and shop.

Definitely agree with billygoat43. The series is pretty interesting, but I'm also not liking this reporter who's covering the story. She asks too many obvious and leading questions. I feel they should've gotten a darker skinned black American with who these stories would hit closer to home. Having a light skinned black woman do the show is hypocritical of CNN considering the institutionalized racism being discussed..
