I got to NETTTS now in Somers, Ct. I am actually very happy with them. The Ma. instructor is a real hard ass, but the Ma. test is one of the most difficult in the country. provided you show up, and put in the effort, its a great place to go. If you just want something to kill time, or hang on to your unemployment, your not going to get anything out of it. granted in 96 i was 12. so im sure they have changed some things.
Agreed! That is exactly what they promised. First day opening statement. "You will not leave here knowing how to drive a truck. You are going to leave here with a license to drive a truck." Which is exactly what happend. I made the money I spent on that school back within my first six months working for a local freight company. Compared to where I was working. Made over 55K my first year and I have been with the same company ever since. Oh ya, NETTTS got me that job by the way!
I went in 04 so maybe they cleaned their act up a little bit since you went. Some of the staff was less than helpful and mostly comprised of truckers who had failed in their careers for varios reasons. I am certainly not the happiest guy on the planet being a trucker, but it pays the bills...if you are lucky enough to get with the right company. Even though they all suck, some are good as far as pay goes. They still run you like a dog and offer no appreciation. That is every where you go!
Cleaning things up is a very strong possibility. I'm actually very happy with my career decision, being with the same company for 11 years. Safe truckin', driver!
what's a truck driving school? i went to the dept. of licensing, passed a written test, presented a postcard sized note a friend, who owned his own truck, wrote stating i knew how to drive and , viola! i had my class 1. this was in 1979 i believe...
Depends on the state you live in. MA is one of the hardest states to get a CDL in due to the rediculous testing manuevers. One thing I notice about truckers from the south are that they can drive forward just fine, but not so much in any other direction.
I Remember In 96' or 97' When my dad was a Truck driver , He Came me with us On Few trips ..and That was the same kind of International Cab overs we seen in this video...Lot of memories are came back , Thanks!
I went to Truck driving school in Albany NY in 90-91. Went to Chauffeurs training school now known as The CDL school in Menands NY. I learned on an old White day cab and an old Freightliner cabover. Had quite a fun time learning how to drive in the winter time. I went from NO license straight to a Class 1 chauffeurs license (before the cdl system used today) I dont know if they allow that anymore. All I needed was to get the class 1 learners permit and they let me in. I was amazed..lol
Kool Vid, I know someone who said the school that they went to All you had to do was pay them there money & if you can pull the truck forward & backwards you passed...The school was later shut down by the federal government

NETTTS wasn't bad. It was a little pricey, but they deliver what they promise...if you do your share as well, like show up for instance.

NETTTS taught you how to pass a CDL test and very little else.

this was more of a tongue in cheek response to this video. i'm a bit of a smartass...
i probably would have had a hard time getting my cdl if it was as difficult then as it is today.
