  • i truelly hope anyone who watches this video DOES NOT CARD WOOL HER WAY....IT IS ALL WRONG. SET UP CORRECTLY, THE DRUM CARDER CAN BE USED WITH ONE HAND TURNING THE HANDLE AND THE OTHER HAND FEEDING IN SMALL...I REPEAT SMALL AMTS OF FIBER. HER BELT SLIPS AND THE SMALL DRUM WAS PICKING UP WAY TOO MUCH FIBER.

  • Thanks for another lovely video. I have just purchased a drumcarder with a fellow spinner. We purchased it form ebay and are both very excited to start using it. I have a couple of sheep fleeces and 2 alpaca fleeces , this is going to be so much easier than hand carding.

    Thanks again Nancy.

    oxox

  • @cackietree I wish I knew the really right way to do it! I have a few fleeces to card, too. I'd like to felt some mittens.

  • I really like it, Basically, I am a newly student of textile , I am doing B.E in Textile From NED University Pakistan, that's why I'm collecting all materials like this type! please recommend me , how can I get these types of basic and simple mechanisms of yarn and fabric manufacturing!!!!

thank you very much for your reply!!!!

  • @fazzo123123 All I know is in these videos.

  • genius....thanx for being alive

  • @LiisaRissanen Hey Liisa! Your dear Rin came over with Darek. We made willow baskets on the floor in the living room! It was great fun. Are you still in Nepal?

  • madam! i need to buy this machine!! could you please reply me ASAP!

  • @fazzo123123 This machine isn't for sale. Sorry! It belongs to our weaving group.

  • everyone has to start somewhere to learn these things....without our mistakes where would we be? these kinds of rough batts make great art yarns...

  • um. i'm pretty sure that's not how's its supposed to work.

  • @janaajones5 Nope, you're right.

  • Hi, I was wondering if you could help me. I am having such a hard time getting all the little bits of stuff from my fleece. I have picked and picked, I just don't know what I have done wrong. Help me.. :)

  • Why don`t you use a doffing needle to remove the fleece? It is a long metal rod like a large knitting needle. You put it under the carded fleece where you put your fingers, and lift it off. so much more efficient.

  • @MaryPegler I have never heard of one! I'll have to see what I can find out! Thanks bunches!

  • nice job nancy--

  • looks like a mess

  • Poor Drum carder ! ...

  • I've been spinning for 15 years and took a while to learn all the little tricks of drum carding. There are different carding clothes from coarse wool cloth to fine and the cloth on your carder is for coarser wool. When you feed wool into a drum carder, it should be fed so lightly that you can see the infeed tray thru the wool. Also, look at some you-tube vidios on wool pickers. You'll find a big difference in the finished process! You looked very pleasant and happ!

  • Very nice lady, but doesn't know how to properly use a drum carder. The wool in the batt was damaged and pilled. #1 rule is to pick you wool and feed LIGHTLY into the machine. She fed too heavily and is why the infeed drum (licker in) wouldn't turn freely. Also, the wool she was using was way too fine for the course carding cloth. If properly carded, there should not be so much wool left on the worker drum or the licker in. She I do love her smile and enthusiasm!

  • I didn't realize all of those things. Thanks. So the wool was too fine. Interesting.

  • Happy B-Lated Birthday!!! I am praying for your strength in The Lord

  • Happy Birthday nancy!!!!! have a wonderful day :)
