volcomkid, this will work on aluminum. The only surcaces you can't use this on is plastics, fiberglass, wood... etc. They do however make a stripper for plastics as well. As far as repainting, all you have to do is clean the metal with soap and water with a little mineral spirits. It will be paintable in no time.

Works in SECONDS! Bought this for the same EXACT reason as you. Getting even. Little fucker stole my $400 electric guitar, so now his precious widdle Civic isn't gonna look so hot...
