A part la mise en scene (ridicule) qui pourrait bien s'adapter à "Orphée aux Enfers", Natalie Dessay n'a jamais eu et jamai n'aurà la couleur et la necessaire "italianité" pour chanter Bellini (et bonne part du repertoire italien). Elle a chanté Mozart , Strauss et beaucoup d'autre musique en manière excellente: mais pas le repertoire italien.

What's up? I don't hear her vocal problems here. Those high notes are sparkling and fiery once more, and the speed of her coloratura.

Cette série n'a pas été très facile pour Nathalie- je crois même qu'elle n'a pas fini une des représentations- mais quelques notes moins aisées n'ôtent rien à une interprétation qui était profonde, sentie, totalement dans le style bellinien. Elle quitte ce rôle, qui est un peu derrière elle, mais elle l'aura marqué, totalement- et le triomphe à paris était total et mérité. Elle chante Cleopatra bientôt.

wow! her high notes sound so much more harmonic.....it almost feels like the old dessay (at least regarding the high notes) :)))

so that makes me happy.....who knows, maybe she will be able to sing some high notes again in the future?

Non vraiment, ce n'étais pas très bon tout cela .... Quelle déception une artiste si inégalable dans son répertoire .... Voix dure, courte de souffle, aigu tiré, style agressif dans les cabalette, graves appuyés .... Dessay n'est plus ce qu'elle était !

Interesting staging. It might look better in the telecast tomorrow. Nice improved singing by Dessay. I enjoyed her at the Met last year because she's such a great performer, and it's even better to see her in top shape. I hope Ophelia goes well for her at the Met later this season.

bravo to her vocal coach, she seems to be getting about 80% of her old voice back. This is supposed to be with a pharyngitis? She is splendid!

I was there the 28 too and to define the performance of Ms Dessay as brilliant and phantastique .. my god .. maybe we were in two different theatres ?

Star system a la française .. pas mal mais loin d' etre excellent ( le final a ete une des choses meilleures par ailleurs )

I saw her 3 februari: it was fine, but not her best, even if she started to sing bit more comfortable than in this film, she sounded thin or short in some phrases, the e-flat was very flat, she sung some notes pianissssssimo. On the other hand, the 'ah non credea' was very very sensitive and very well sung, emotional and pure! Elvino Elvino was very huntingly sung, all soft notes and tones were amazingly sensitive. The acting a bit too much sometimes, but touching or delightful other moments.

from the dreadful way she was singing or more properly "losing her voice" 2-3 years ago, this is like she is being resurrected from the dead! Enormous improvement from the downhill her voice had been taking in the last 4-5 years
