First time seeing one of your videos and you know your stuff. Love the shots of the kitchen utensils and to me they look awesome. I subscribed. Enthusiastically.
@LearnMyShot you sir are my hero, i have been trying to photograph wedding rings, racking my brain trying to figure out how they get that nice look, now i know :)
Thanks! I did notice that about my hybred.. it is difficult to get a strong background blur at portrait distances. makes sense you would need F22 for better DOF.
I still look foward to the day when I can afford a full DSLR
(I have been adapting my pop up to use monolights (flash detector cube and trigger in a housing on popup) im hoping to use ND filters to kill light for low key style images. (pop up normally triggers monolights too early)
You shot at F22 . my current camera is apature limited (fuji S1800) is there a reason you did this? I can get to f3-4 or f6-8 I also now have a selection of ND filters which will lessen my limitation I would like to hear what you would try if you did this shot with my camera.
I would like to give this project a try once i get the materials, what was the table cloth?
@brent847 F22 has bigger field of sharpness, then f3-4. But - small sensor give bigger field of sharpness, so your hibrid camera dont need so small aperture as DSLR.
@NusultanYakbai It's just a matter of taste. The image looked just fine to me .. in fact very good I must say. He got what he intended to shoot and show. You can always recompose photos to your liking, you don't have to shoot the photos exactly like Robert did.
@zorex0304 not really, less control. soft box is evenly lit, diffusion tissue you can project and skim light at any angle to achieve gradation of tones
@ChristiaanL14 we have about 10 tuts where we use strobe. browse all lessons on our site. Clamp lamp is expensive solution that everyone can afford...
I liked your quick and easy explaination of shooting shiny things. I shoot video and was wondering about shooting a chrome pipe such as an exhaust pipe for a truck without being able to be seen in the shot. Any thoughts?
@neverendsproduction . try using a long lens around 135 -200mm so you will be far away and will not show up much in chrome . are you shooting just pipe (in studio) or on the car? what camera do you use?
thanks for the video! I bought a D60 and it seems that it doesnt have the same settings like your camera. I found how to change to ISO 100 but i cant understand what is the 22 and 1,3 that you show at your camera settings...
nice lighting sir..

@bronicaetrs if your clients ask for high contrast shoot high contrast, why are you yelling at me for?

Thanks for sharing, that's wonderful.
I have a difficult task - how can I photograph reflective/ round objects like metal necklace beads? They always reflect my camera @ the front.

@merovatis1
22 is the f-stop / aperture
1"3 is shutter speed
1.3 seconds
refer to your your camera manual for setting aperture and shutter speeds
