  • '....Cool Pics.' lol

  • I thought this song was meant for the Dust Storms.

Black Blizzard..you know when those sand storms came..O_O

  • this is such a powerful song.

  • ...jack marston...

  • My 15 years old son, Miklos often plays this song on the piano. Any time I hear it, it breaks my heart, it is so beatiful...

  • at first i just watchted the vids for the music, but nowadays i watch them for the music and the comments by TheFryersmuck

  • It's sad that people have to bring the a countries leader into what should be song comments. There's nothing wrong with Germans, Hitler, of course. But that has nothing to do with the whole community of people there is now. Both of you, Just stop this and lets listen to the music. As it is wonderful.

  • amazing song!! :) .... its a shame you get more interesting in the comments though :S D:

  • i was gonna read the commens but there too long, good song it describes me

  • I keep thinking about Grapes of Wrath when I listen to this song.

  • @purplecoconut99 I thought I was the only one! A lot of their songs remind me of Grapes of Wrath, especially "the Cave"

  • @purplecoconut99 absolutely! it's a really good book too :)

  • awesome song

  • 3.39 One of the most tuneful noises ever :')

  • It reminds me of 'The Dark Tower' series, by Stephen King. It kind of fits the whole spaghetti western/scifi/fantasy theme that it always had.

  • I have discovered this song was written about the original and best break dancing legend,Bodge Baggit.

Bodge was well known for his fast spinning on his head, which always stirred up a dustbowl when he performed his dancing routine outside.

Unfortunately his career was halted when during one performance his high speed spinning caused his head to burst into flames.

Some cruel people started to refer to Bodge Baggit as a 'hot head'

That was the day he stopped performing his 'Dustbowl Dance'.

  • @TheFryersmuck That makes so much sense! But wait, what about the empty town mentioned in this song? Did the rest of the town leave because he finished dancing or because he kept creating dustbowls?

  • The start of this song reminds me of the start of a clannad tune, cant think which one though. Can help me with my confusion? beautiful tune btw

  • scratch that this whole song gives me chills

  • i am the only son...That gives me chills

  • Thankyou to all the good people who helped increase my limited intelligence by taking away my confusion with the two words,Porch and Porsche. The strange thing now in my head this song makes more sense and incredibly it has tainted my love of this song? In my head I can visualize loads of young men painting their ceilings as they stand on the edge of their porsches, with wilderbeest wandering by in the background.Surely I am not the only one?

  • @TheFryersmuck epic troll was epic, dont become a fail.

  • @TheFryersmuck haha I love how everyone is trying to correct you, I guess they don't know you very well. I love the Porsche lyrics!! xD

  • @TheFryersmuck Your a DUMBASS!!!!!!

  • @eddiemae942 the irony is delicious

  • @spacedooky42 I imagine it taste rather tasty

  • @TheFryersmuck What the heck did you just say?...

  • @ghostie7790 you're a dumbass

  • For a Christmas present I was given a dog.The surprise was taken away before I could remove the wrapping paper when it bit me.My sister rescued it from the dogpound but she couldn't tame it so she gave it to me.I have called it "Dustbowl Dance" due to the fact that when I play this song it stops him barking and he start doing the Moonwalk.

  • calum watson is

  • whos for gay marrage thumbs up big dale x

  • I'm probably feeding the trolls here, but why is it every stellar video has some degree of dislikes? 914,686 views, 3,690 likes and.....47 dislikes. I don't want to do any math here but that's got to be less than 1% of the total views. Just once I'd like to see a video in total agreement that said video kicks ass, but I'd wager that those 47 dislikes make it a point to see comments like mine to get their rush for the day. For them, it's probably better than sex.

  • I love how people try to get the meaning out of this song. There is no meaning they just made the song with powerful lyrics and if there was a meaning they would have already said it

  • Maybe he could have traded-in the Porsche and might avoided the whole mess. Pawn Stars usually a fair price...or etrader...

  • @shafferb89 Pawn Stars?!

It's worht about 250k I'll give you about hm... 60 bucks for it.

    100

Breakin my balls man, I'm s'posed to be makin the profit heya 75

    Pawn Stars in a nutshell

  • *RED DEAD SPOILER ALERT*

this song matches jack marston so much, every line can match what u think his life would be like after the death of his father....they shouldve put this song somewhere in there....

  • @killerjay13andAhalf yeah true but to be honest: jack marston was shite compared to john :D

  • I think this's the most underrated song on the album... My favorite by far

  • Thumbs up if you think everyone that says "thumbs up if (...)" is a fucking tool, also if you enjoy humorous conundrums!

  • Does this song make anyone else think of Gangs of New York?? Leo, Daniel Day-Lewis...anyone??

  • @musicdanceartlove Gangs of New York is THE GREATEST MOVIE EVER!!!!! but it doesn't really remind me of this song Maybe Their will be Blood but other than that no, not really

  • Thumbs up if you did your time...

  • To me it's a song about revenge. These men stole his land when he a boy so he killed them. I imagine him telling his story two all the people on death row, and at the end he was talking to a judge or lawyer. When he says he'll do his time, and how he methodically planed it throughout the entirety of the song, I don't see him regreting it.

  • @AssortedBullshit I think you should read Grapes of Wrath...

  • This song sends a shiver down my spine, a good shiver :)

  • @Guardgriffin haa you feel it too!

  • people always want a meaning to a song, so i will take full ownership for the answer with a question in return...what does it mean to you?

get out of your head and connect with your heart folks

  • occupy wall street

  • This was added on my Birthday 2 years ago...... I feel like it was a present for me THANKS XD

  • I sang this song for my finals for vocal training and grade from coach was B :D so happy

  • SoNg gIvEs Me A bOnEr

  • @TheRogueNamedSam aside from this song speaking of a run down farm due to the dusty barren lands which wouldnt exist if there was rain lol

  • What i would give to meet Mumford and Sons !!! love this song !!!

  • Can anyone send me the meaning of this song, please?

  • @ironeagle6651 I believe it is about the Passion. Listen to it carefully, it makes sense. He needs to sacrifice himself for the good of humanity. It's my favorite song because its the deepest to me.

  • thumbs up if you think this is the best mumford and sons song

  • @AidanSkisALot thumbs up if you think all mumford and sons songs are the best

  • @AidanSkisALot I couldn't agree more (:

  • @AidanSkisALot think? KNOW!

  • Yes, I agree with allfreakedout799. This song is inflicts so much emotion as is, a video for it would be awesome.

  • Hey guys do know that it it LESS THEN TWO MONTHS to the NEW album WIHOO finally!

  • I love this song but it always leaves me confused at the line "A young man stands on the edge of his Porsche."

The only meaning I can take from it, is the band are trying to stop young men standing on their Sportscars while they are painting their ceilings, which makes sense from a health and safety point of view,I suppose.

I can't understand why people don't use ladders like the old days!!

Apart from that, this song takes me back to the beautiful African plains and the poor Wildebeest.

  • @TheFryersmuck Are you sure it isn't porch?

  • @Wertkin5413 Hello my friend, yes I am sure it isn't porch because although they are very convenient for keeping a visitor dry when they knock on the door on a rainy day, they will not take you to where you wish to be going, with the wind going through your hair,if you haven't got any hair then the wind can go through your wig.

Also to finish on a winning comment, when was the last time you filled your porch with petrol?

I am not counting mobile homes either!!

    Happy New Year!!

  • @TheFryersmuck

Its Porch. Its talking about the Dustbowl funny enough, when Sportscars weren't about or no one could even afford a decent meal never mind cars. When they talk about travelling they are walking as they had to find work. Also I would appreciate it if you pointed out where they talk about petrol and wind through their hair?

  • @TheFryersmuck It's porch.

  • @TheFryersmuck i can understand the african plains thing by the imagery i guess, but i thought it was just describing the effects of the dustbowl on american land.... also, ur comment was pretty funny.

  • @TheFryersmuck I think its "porch" lol...cuz that would make a lot more sense

  • @TheFryersmuck heey i seen you on youtube before lmao whats up lmao.

  • @TheFryersmuck porch i think they said

  • @TheFryersmuck its actually "A young man stands on the edge of his porch

  • @TheFryersmuck It says, "A young man stands on the edge of his Porch", as if looking out at the plains, lost in thought, i think.

  • @TheFryersmuck or it says porch....

  • Comment removed

  • @TheFryersmuck i'm pretty sure the lyric is "porch"...

  • @TheFryersmuck Dude it's: "A young man stands on the edge of his PORCH" meaning the porch of his house. Read the lyrics to understand what the song is about, it's about the dust bowl during the great depression. The man is being evicted and obviously ends up shooting the evictor

  • @sonicaidan37 You don't say??

  • @TheFryersmuck not porsche, porch :D A porch is a terrace.

  • @TheFryersmuck its porch its the door step

  • @TheFryersmuck Are you anatomically able/inclined to impregnate me? If so...GET OVER HERE. If not...that's cool too

  • @TheFryersmuck WASSUP WITH WILDEBEATS?

  • @TheFryersmuck *porch... embarressing.......

  • @evh99 I'd be a tad bit more embarrassed by your own mistakes ;)

  • @evh99 *embarrassing... how ironic. You obviously didn't get the joke anyway.

  • @TheFryersmuck xD Every damn time I read your comments I fall off my chair. You leave the wierdest comments on Mumford and Sons I've ever read. Nice bro

  • @TheFryersmuck Have you tried "A young man stands on the edge of his Porch."?

  • @TheFryersmuck he says porch

  • @TheFryersmuck he says porch

  • @gearsxfan1s Dude I think he got it xD

  • @TheFryersmuck..............Wut

  • @TheFryersmuck I'm just going ahead and assume you do know the difference between a porch and a Porsche. In that case, 31 people liked your 'joke' wtf

  • This even sounds good on 240p! :

  • There is potential for a really good video here. :D

  • Anyone here a little of "Eire Canal"?

  • I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!!!! These guys are so awesome and I am so happy I bought their CD for my sis :)

  • This song is so flipping amazing ...his voice is so sexy

  • i listened to this song a thousand times when i missed my ex

  • Comment removed

  • Every time I lissen to this song I love it more and more and more.

  • @thrownrightatme Why are you here listening to them if you don't like them ? they are n't playing dress up, listen to the lyrics that is what folk is about and if you read them you'll see the folk roots. It's all about the story they are telling in their songs which they do very poetically, not to mention the actually music its self is amazing.

  • love it! got my bf hooked on them when i was in ireland now we can t wait until the next cd :)

  • MOTIVATION.

  • @thrownrightatme i love nick drake and mumford and sons. problem?

  • @thrownrightatme dude, who cares what they call themselves. They are amazing no matter what catagory you put them under!

  • watch their performance of this at Glastonbury

  • @yako165 vary true I love this band because of that. The accent makes them seem like that to.

  • There songs have a real sense of peace and acceptance with yourself. They alo have some real sense of music. when i listen to them it makes me feel more unique which i am. i am not one of those who listen to garbage music. And this music makes you happy.

  • Definately the best done song on the album. You can really feel the pain in his voice, you just don't get that from other bands.

  • Eargasms. Every time. <3

  • I used to perform the dust bowl dance, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

  • i now know what a porch is

  • They really need to bring out more CD's...

  • @Marthekoo Definitely, but you don't want to rush them. I've heard a few bands rush it and ruin a potentially amazing album.

  • @Hyronious Yah, that's true, but I can't imagine that they would ruin it ;)

  • This song is indeed a wonderful example of musicianship and lyrical wizardry but I am always left totally confused by the line "A young man stands on the edge of his porsche"

Are the band highlighting the dangers of using a sportscar to paint the ceiling?

  • @TheFryersmuck He is actually saying " A young man stands on the edge of his porch" A porch is a covered shelter projecting in front of the entrance of a building or house :)

  • @InSonicsMindToday obviously, he was joking.

  • @TheFryersmuck HAHAHAHAHAA Jokes

  • elle est superbe cette chanson.... j'aime j’apprécie j’écoute et je partage

  • Surely listening to this song all day counts as studying for my Of Mice And Men exam on monday.

  • I used to think that Relient K was my favorite band... sorry Relient K, you've been beat.

  • Holy shit that got really awesome

  • This song makes me want to live a simple life on a farm.

  • If Mumford & Sons' music gives you as strong a reaction as @TheFryersmuck - or you know - near as strong a reaction: check out thewaysideinn dot tumblr dot com - it's a fan fundraising group for Invisible Children.

  • "Well you are my accuser, now look in my face" *That gets me every time*

  • This song makes me want to go outside and clean my next doors neighbours windows with a fistful of spring onions while chanting like a peruvian foot soldier making his way across the Andes on his way home to his orphaned children and adopted mother who just so happen to have been arrested for the asassination of Abraham Lincoln while he was spending some much needed thinking time in his outhouse that was situated inside his white house.

  • @TheFryersmuck I'm sorry, but i'm afraid your references flew over my head.

    What are you talking about?

  • @TheFryersmuck there is so much wrong with what you have there.

  • excellent i love this!

  • What can Marcus Mumford not do?

  • @shardesia97 suck.

  • 44 peoples heads blew off

  • 41 peoples speakers broke

  • i listend to this song once when i was stoned, pretty deep

  • This song makes way more sense now that I know what the Dust Bowl was.

  • This song gets me everytime, i can never skip it. it's so dense, thick it hits you like a lorry and its like your flying in slowmotion until its finished

  • when i first heard mumford and sons i thought thay were just ok... when i heard this song, i was blown away... is there such thing as an eargasm?

  • @OTHOMAS8032 yes. they invented it

  • @OTHOMAS8032 eargasm's are normally connected with the dubstep genre but yeh

  • @OTHOMAS8032 just dont get Hearing aids. Perverts listen to these songs until completion, and give their hearing aids out to everyone. it's sick! I saw it on 60 minutes

  • their inspiration for this song came from the dustbowl of the 1920-30's.

  • fucking amazing live. i was honselty on the verge of tears they were soooo amazing.
