Being a shelter volunteer I see and socialize different pit bull terriers frequently. There are 2 mo old up to 6 or 7 yr olds and I have never had a problem walking or socializing any of them. Most of the time when I have a pit in the yard the antagonizer in the other yard is a chihuahua, its a fact. The owners are to blame, they breed the females to sell the puppies and then dump the females and the pound picks them up, facts are facts!

@gravylegs1 Uhm. In countries that instituted BSL long before anywhere in the US did the laws are starting to be repealed because it has been found that dog bites were not reduced. Italy is such an example. There was a banned breed list consisting of no less than 92 different types of dog. They recently dropped BSL because IT DOESN'T WORK. And there's no point pumping money into legislation that doesn't work.

I love my pitbull I would never fight him. He is around children and other dogs all the time. He is very friendly but when I walk him in the park i always get people that get upset. I think the best idea isn't to ban certain breeds, but to issue a liscence for people who want to own certain breeds that are "dangerous", such as pitbulls. You need a CCW to own a gun why wouldn't you need a certain liscence to own a potentially dangerous dog? @gravylegs1 Uhm. In countries that instituted BSL long before anywhere in the US did the laws are starting to be repealed because it has been found that dog bites were not reduced. Italy is such an example. There was a banned breed list consisting of no less than 92 different types of dog. They recently dropped BSL because IT DOESN'T WORK. And there's no point pumping money into legislation that doesn't work.

However, other types of dogs are fought in different countries. If you ban pit bulls, people will use dogs such as German Shepherds and Rottweilers. And labs and retrievers HAVE killed humans.

I think the best idea isn't to ban certain breeds, but to issue a liscence for people who want to own certain breeds that are "dangerous", such as pitbulls. You need a CCW to own a gun why wouldn't you need a certain liscence to own a potentially dangerous dog? There are other ways to deal with this than banning a breed of dog because of the humans fault.

i own a pitbull 5 german shepards 2 rotties and a wolf. doesnt matter about the breed it matters about the owner if you think the dog is dumb? the dog can only learn what you allow your friend to know. if you never teach him how to do bad then he wont but also if you dont correct it or give it any attention it will look out for itself by any means nessesary so please spend time with your dogs show them you care
