  • Awesome! :0

  • hare the shadows and highlights on seperate layers,? and if the are how do you blend the colours with smudge

  • @15Protech Hi, for this method all is on the layer "skin".

  • @StephanieValentin ok thank you for the fast response, your videoes are amazing

  • Kudos, Stephanie, on posting the uncensored version! I don't even know why this has to be age-restricted??? There are nude statues everywhere in Europe and kids walk the streets without being traumatized. The U.S.A. is really messed up about this subject.

    Nice video.

    Tom V

  • Thank you very much for this video Valentin! You are an amazing digital drawer, this tutorial really helped me with painting skin and i hope to in the future be as good as you. I just wonder will you in the future make a tutorial about how to draw the face more clear? I find that really difficult :/ Thanks! / Erik

  • @VirtualGaming94 Thanks a lot ? Have you tried the tutorial 11a ? Do you find it difficult ? You can go on my forum and ask your questions, I will do my best to help you ;-)

  • tits

  • the music is so beautiful very elegant! By reading some info I guess you're the composer

  • Occasionally, well, most of the time, when I use the smudge tool, it brings in random green/ black colors when I smudge near the edge of my color. Is there a way to prevent this?

  • @Kissonthelips16 Yes, I know, it's a problem. Try do go only in one direction interior => exterior to prevent that

  • @Kissonthelips16 I've just created a forum on my website where people could talk about this sort of problem ;-)

  • logged in with another account just to view the video

  • Please mention that this is a photoshop tutorial, its confusing when you just say "paint"

  • @TheWraithling The last time I mentionned photoshop, Adobe deleted my video ;-) And this is possible to make it with Gimp I think...

  • Thank you SO much, i had NO idea how to shade before this!

  • Hi I like your tutorial, it's fantstic, I think it will be very usefull for me! And your music it's incredible, so beauty!

  • Comment removed

  • Hey! I'm a beginner at drawing at all basically but I want to learn, for fun, and I'm having huge difficulties with smudging colours together. I've used the exact same colours as you but it still looks like different regions only... And If I try even hard it will just get pixelized a lot, smudging back and forth...

  • @Ciemon Hi, what is the size of your document ?

  • @StephanieValentin i think it's 1650x1080 to fit my desktops resolution. it's a template and i THINK i used it. don't have PS started atm and i'm studying so i can't check now :P but i assume this is too low then?

  • @Ciemon No, it is not too low, I don't understand why it doesn't work for you, sorry.

  • @Ciemon did you try blending with the body, even strokes?

  • @LucineAura don't know what you mean really

  • @Ciemon when you use the brush do you just wipe on color with strokes from many different directions, or do you just go in one direction?

  • @LucineAura one direction

  • @Ciemon huh...well maybe its your strength or brush size?

  • @LucineAura i did as she said i'd do. still doesn't blend together good when using the smudge tool.

  • @Ciemon Ok, im going to try it out next. I will tell you how it goes, maybe we can help each other :)

Try experimenting in your own way with small strokes, zoom in some, look at references, I will do the same. I'll tell you later how it goes, good luck!

  • @LucineAura okey! message in me instead of commenting here though cus my inbox is spazing out so comments tend to get wierd :O

i'm busy the whole weekend though so i can't do any drawing... and i'm so awful at it so i cba to try when i have so much to do anyway xD but good luck with your attempts and message me about the outcome!

  • I freakin' LOVE the hair :]

  • you have talent nice work

  • What colors would you use for a black person's skin?

  • unbelievable...

  • I am new to digital art, can you tell me what you use to draw? surely it isn't a mouse? Is it some sort of tablet or other input device? Can someone tell me please? thanks.

  • @AmZPrOdUcTioNz Yes if you want to do digital painting you will really need to get a tablet. WACOM is the standard brand.

  • This is really helpful. Thank you Stephanie :) Greetings from China

  • I would recommend the use of a clipping mask instead of drawing the shadows directly on the "Skin layer". If it turns out wrong it's easier to correct the error that way. Nice tut though, keep it up!

  • @Curlsbel90 Thanks ! It is an other method I explained in other tutorials, this one is more inspired from the oil painting method I use ;-)

  • @StephanieValentin I have to ask (don't have photoshop) but for the colors what are the red green and blue values (if you have the hue and saturation values I can work with that) based on the 0-255 scale? Just asking cause this has been killing me.

  • @StephanieValentin For the shadows, what tips do you have for choosing the right colours and for the realistic hair, does that technique work with all hair styles? how would you draw spiky hair?

BTW your tutorials are really helpful, keep them coming :D

  • You are really gifted... I just love your tutorials and love your music.

    LUV ya and god bless!!!

    -Farhan

  • Hi Stéphanie great tutorial, I'm work with Corel Paint Shop pro X2 Ultimate and I can follow all your step, and tnx for explanation of lock transparency it work same way in PSP as it do in PS. You are a very skillful artist and I love your music.

  • It's 18+

  • Im fine with this tutorial right up until it asks me to blend with the smudge took, then everything just comes out one blurry mess, i cant get it looking near as good as steoh has done it, and i consider myself a good artist, it aint easy

  • @MrOutfitted Hey dude, just wondering if you solved the mystery of how to paint on a locked layer, i didnt understand Stephanies explanation, im using CS3

  • simply great.!

  • I like this! beautiful! thanks! =D

  • I love your tutorials.. they explain great techniques and very helpful. Thank you. There is nothing more beautiful than the female body and glad it is now uncensored. . I love the colours you use for skin but i dont understand where you input the numbers and letters you provide.. maybe that is not an option in photoshop 7 so i guess i will improvise. :)

  • Encore une fois un excellent boulot, j'adore bravo !! Et j'adore la manière dont vous jouez le violon *-*

  • i love you !!!

  • Very nice, but I'm embarrassed to say that my brush is not so round or hard these days. Can I still do it?

  • In my opinion, the ribs look really bizzare in your painting. not aesthetically pleasing or even anatomically correct. Besides that, thank you for the tutorial, everything else looks a-ok

  • beautiful!

  • Wow!... Really realistic , thank you very much 

  • beautifully done!

  • the boobs need to be bigger!

  • sorry for the dumb question, but where do you usually find "curves"?, cuz im using corel painter 11.

  • @EDDIEinWAR Omg...get photoshop ffs

  • @AlfaHazard im short on money cuz i just spend 900 bucks on a tablet

  • @MrOutfitted When you lock a layer, you are not allowed to paint the transparent pixels only.

  • Je me demandais, est-ce que la femme qui est dessinée serait la même qui dessine ? =p

    (cad Stephanie ^^)

en tout cas, magnifique résultat et superbe musique comme toujours ;-)

  • Yeah, seriously. Why are breasts censored for people under 18 when we've been sucking on those things at ages that were under 18?

  • @TheSyntaxOverride Because as you grow older you symbolize them with sex and you no longer thing of them as a life source. That's why.

  • @blackfireknight1 Why is this a "Linked Comment"? wtf

  • Why + 18? Art has no age. I think breasts shouldn't shock anyone, just because as we were babies our mothers breast-fed us and that's natural for everyone. Why should that be a cause for shame or shock? It's something I'll never understand.

  • @andrewizz I completely agree, but you have to admit, if she were to post this without the age restrictions, youtube would pull it down in a flash. : / You can't blame her for this. At least she has the censored version for the under-18 folks.

  • @SpiritofInsanity The censorship comes from Youtube not from me ;-)

  • @StephanieValentin I figured as much :) great video by the way, I found it very helpful.

  • @andrewizz Because most of the population are perverts.

  • @andrewizz

    Umad?

  • @mecrazy5 Ucrazy5?

  • @andrewizz

    Icrazy5

  • @mecrazy5 alright sir

  • Fantastic....but how come it is necessary to make a cencored version? This is ART!

  • Wow, you actually drew yourself naked, that's kind of weird, (:

  • You're the best Stephanie, i love your videos

  • the one who dislike this can't appreciate art!

  • Magnifique Stéphanie, vive les muses !!!

  • @sebastienagius Merci beaucoup Seb ! C'est amusant, je venais justement d'aller faire un tour sur ta chaîne pour voir si on pouvait écouter ton nouveau single ;-) Bisous

  • WOW, please tell me who the model is? She is perfect. You are so awesome, I went out and bought and older cintiq 15x and a wacom intuos4 plus I bought the same software that you said you use. I am trying to watch all your videos and learn your style.

  • Stephanie, in saudi arabia, they block tinyurl links, so please if you can provide us with original links so we can get access to the material.

Thanks so much for your beautiful work.

  • @MediumKuriboh Thanks a lot, I didn't knew that. I put the complete link in the description ;-)

  • The skin color #d1ada8 doesn't seem to correspond to the same color for me in CS5 :S it's a much lighter and grayish tone :S which is kinda useless for skin tones (I used a gradiant tool to try and match your background)

  • @88Deidara

Try d9a59e, looks good enough to me. :P

  • Hey when I lock the "skin" layer, it says I can't use brush on it?? Plz help

  • you make it seem so easy. everytime i've tried to make a realistic skin with smudge tool, it always looks like uhh.. something "painted", rather than a more realistic look <.<

  • wow youtube is really lay back on removing videos

  • Thank you Stephanie. I admire your dedication and also your willing to share your knowledge with the rest of us guys.

  • Your amazing at these, I love your videos

  • beautiful painting!

  • Dammit, smudge tool never works out for me.

  • do more celeb paintings please? they were my favorite :)

  • boobs

  • OH MY GOD ! ! ! !

    It's Beautiful !

I'll try to do this, it's amazing !

    Good, very good job !!

  • I love your music. Is Itunes the only place where I can get it?

  • @SannaCK I think I will put my new song on my website as soon as possible ;-)

  • thath sketch of the womand seemed to have lots of dimension on it. i wonder why everything i sketch are looking 2D? any solutions for this? : D

  • @Guitaristguy Perhaps your lines are too straight, I don't know. If you want you can send me a link to your drawing in a private message ?

  • This is so Pretty!!! I don't understand, why people censored arts? and why people don't censored violence and morbo?

  • Dear Stephanie! I found one of your work (Wolverine) on the net :)

    virtualfunzone com

    50 Ultra Realistic Portrait Drawings

  • It is so pretty!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the hair is amazing!

  • Stephanie can you do tutorials on drawing manga?

  • awesome

  • this is amazing, thanks for posting it'll really help me with creating more realistic paintings using photoshop cause I can never get it right :P

  • your music and art both are so perfectly beautiful <3

  • Hey Stephanie are you using CS4? I have CS5 and I know you would love it because of the mixer brush. It makes blending so easy you have to try it!

  • @ethanashton Yes I use CS4, the mixer brush is different than the smudge, is it like painting with Corel painter ?

  • Nice i like the music, art, tutorial, and the girl :)

    all perfect

  • Hey what song name?...

  • Wow you are amazing, I love your art and your music. Both has inspired me to work harder on becoming a better artist and musician. I look forward to your next tutorials.

  • What would be particularly interesting is if you painted your own body and no one even knew it lol. Nice work as always Stephanie Valentin :)

  • this is very goo, thanks for sharing

  • haha! are you kidding me ? +18 ONLY ? haha

  • i love it, you know how to do great tutorials, THANK YOU SO MUCH... LOVE U!! X3

  • Absolutely stunning as usual! Your work continues to inspire me greatly!

It's such ashame such immature people don't understand the difference between pornographic images and nudity. They are not synonymous!

  • one word...wow... you are so talented!!

  • Hey Stephaniem what happened to your older videos? I remember the very first one I saw it was just you sitting, beautiful background & then its just you playing the violin & singing. I went back to look for that one but couldn't find it.

  • @BANGONEM The son of the compositor of "Mon Amant de Saint Jean" asked Youtube to remove the video, sorry !

  • @StephanieValentin U know u can re-upload the vid just mute the music part off it

  • @Blazikenblade You can also use youtube's preselected audio to cover the original audio track.

  • This video is not allowed for people who have less than 18 years, it's incredible !!! Then, I will post another version...

  • @StephanieValentin lol ... it's juz an art piece and tutorial... so ridiculous!

  • @BlackzAngel Yes, you're right ;-)

  • @StephanieValentin We are living in a capitalist society where artistic value is destroyed by the indulgence in popular culture. You have to expect things like this - *especially* on Youtube.

  • Woah...this is so pretty!

You may have been asked this many times but may i know what program you are using to do this? ^^

  • @littledraenei Thanks, Adobe Photoshop CS4

  • @StephanieValentin

    Thank you for replying!

and i thought u might be using some fancy program... ya know....^^ Merci beaucoup!

  • Estephanie, I wish I could download your complete songs! I hear all day! it is beautiful!

  • I liked .... Uuuu This really inspires me! :-D

  • thank you a lot

u make me a better artist

  • Es muy Hermoso !!!

  • I think it's silly how you have to confirm your over 18 to view this video. It is art, it's beautiful.

  • Very very very impressive and beautiful...You're my MASTER.....thanks for all of this stuff....

  • One person is a lady, and is jaloux at her breasts.

  • i look forward to all your videos

  • bloody amazing, such an inspiration!

  • Thanks and im going to get ur music now-so amazing!

  • And don't stop with your art! It's amazing along with your music :D

  • i like the woman herself :)

  • I like the song. Where can I donalod it? And what is the title and who is the artist?

  • @Sinvudyo I wrote this song for my son, the song with lyrics will coming soon, I'm working today to finish it ;-) I make all alone, then it is a little bit long lol

  • @StephanieValentin

Wow, it's so calm. Your truly amazing and talented.

I like your vids. Keep up the good work Stéphanie

    Regards,

    Steven (Sinvudyo)

  • @StephanieValentin Please Do I would like to hear it :)

  • @Sinvudyo She IS the artist. iTunes;)

  • Sorry but how do you "lock" a layer and then paint on it, when its locked you cant do anything on it.

and in the skin section before you show that the skin color is below the sketch layer i suppose the sketch is on multiply ?also you have a grey background is this also a requirement as the color does look different on a grey background compared to a whit background.

sorry one more thing. at what opacity or flow should i put my shadows in ? 100% 50% etc etc thanks again this is helpful

  • @posvibes

    i see 10%

  • @posvibes You paint the shadows on the same layer as the skin (lock is on top of the layers panel), then you can't paint outside the skin.

The sketch is not on multiply, but you can if you want or you can change the opacity to be confortable.

The grey background is just for the video, I used a white one but it is not important.

The opacity of the brush for shadows is 10%.

  • thats not u is it?

  • I think everyone here needs to understand the difference between pornographic nudity and artistic nudity. Youtube doesn't allow pornographic nudity because it is a very lustful and arousing image. Artistic nude images don't make you horny, they look good because the female body is beautiful. Museums let kids go in to see artistic nude images because it's different than letting kids go and see a playboy shoot.

  • @Xemptuous but what if it was airtisticly pornographic, i.e. a painted picture of 2 people doing it

  • it is totally a MAGIC :) i love it

  • Je suis vraiment admiratif tu travailles que tu peux fournir. C'est tellement bien fait que l'on en penserait que c'est simple ... et il n'y a rien de plus dur ... que la simplicité ^^

  • Always amazing, Never stop playing and drawing. :D

  • Very nice tutorial, I want to see more traditional art videos from you Stephi, I like your paintings.

  • I Apreciate it =))

  • Grow up, they're breasts, and it's art, not porn.

  • You did boobs, can you do a porn drawing with vag o_O that will please ALOT of us....

  • @ItsThatEveGirl Grow up, it's art. A beautiful painting that is admired my many mature people.

  • Dear Valentin! I've found one of your videos a day ago and I'm still sitting in the front of my computer watching your works and tutorials. I don't sleep and my wife will probably kill me :) You are great artist and a great inspiration for me.

If you could give some tips about using a smudge tool it would be wonderfull. Maybe there is something else than just a practice that could be helpfull to use this quite complicated tool.

  • @nelbox81 Thank you very much ;-) For smudge tool, in the tutorial about hand and crosshatching, the second part is about smudging, I hope it could help you !
