cheering for him was because he was the Rock and you had to cheer for the Rock. They never actually stepped back and looked and thought what has he done that is actually impressing me. This promo here for example is a promo that anybody could pull off. There is nothing special about it at all and unfortunately a lot of his mic work over this period of time was nothing special. All you need to do is watch just about any promo from 1999 and compare it to this stuff and you will see the difference.

ok you want an explanation? not a problem. I called him overated in the sense that he was good not great. His in ring work was decent it wasn't anything particurarily special. I can only think of a handful of really good matches he's been in. As for his mic skills they were decent but people that say he was the best ever are delusional. I don't care if u agree with me or not but The only way I can say he was Over rated if he was only a 3 time champion, but he's a 8 time champion, the youngest in WWE to win the championship 3 times. Thats not a good explanation, if he was decent the fans wouldn't give 2 shits about him. but the Rock isn't a over rated wrestler, he always brought something new and original with him every week and thats another thing fans loved him most of his matches were epic and there were a lot of times he made the fans thinks he's about to lose but some how he manages to surprise everyone in his matches, those are reason why he wasn't over rated and why some /most fans considered him the greatest wrestler, and to me I considered him the Greatest Wrestler of all time.

I personally didn't find him to be worthy of that accolade. Yeah i will agree he entertained the crowd but so did a lot of others. Foley was excellent on the mic as was Jericho. Neither Hogan or Austin had the talent to entertain the crowd?? Please!!! did you not see the attitude era. Austin had the crowd in the palm of his hands and who else but Austin can make an entire arena chant WHAT after every sentence was spoken.

Doesn't mean he was more popular than somebody else though. I could start going into that but it probably best i don't. We both liked Austin and the Rock and you thought one was better than the other and it think the opposite which is fair enough. As you say they were both great but i think in very different ways.
