  • Not a huge Radiohead fan, but I must say he has a beautiful voice and this is a beautiful song.

  • Radiohead is on a level all of there own. Amazing.

  • Where was it ?

  • This video just made me cum.

  • I need to keep re-visiting this - it's so good! Q magazine stated that when Radiohead were finding it hard to nail this track 'they took a break and went to see Jeff Buckley at London's Borderline. Returning to the studio inspired, Yorke sang the song twice and burst into tears'. Didn't do any harm!

  • FAKE !!!!!... uh, oh ...wait... !

  • THIS IS THOM YORKE`S SOUL

  • what is truly amazing about this song is its simplicity,,, I am a huge fan and have read sooo many blogs about this song. And i think sooo many fans truly over look and over analyze what this song is truly about. I believe the song is about a broken girl who lives with a broken man bc they are attracted to each other however the singer/3 party person falls in love with this broken women and wishes that he could be whatever she turely wants in live aka "if i could be who you wanted"

  • its just about getting old, thats it, pure and simple

Do you know that Thom York written this song just after had see Jeff Buckley on stage?! He was so distress by him that he inspired him one of the most beautiful song of the galaxy... Great tribute for him now... RIP Jeff...

  • this song brings tears to my eyes. literally when he says "if i could be who you wanted all the time"

  • Best song ever written. Period.

  • Best band in the known world today.

    Peace.

  • Great version!

  • one of the most perfect performance ever!

  • We should all sit in a room and just be quiet. An exorcism to rid ourselves of all the fake plastic demons that follow some of us everyday. My hollow existence. If I could be who you wanted.. all the time.

  • amazza bellissima !!! ES LO MEJOR THE BEST!! RADIOHEAD TE AMO

  • *sigh* memories...

  • @lfil28 - I agree the "ghost sounds" are pretty critical to the emotion/mood of the song. My guess is Greenwood wasn't up to playing them live at this point in time.

  • So ahead. So beautiful. So Radiohead.

  • que cancionzota

  • Bliss

  • Brilliant, the vocal and musical harmony, unbelievable!

  • One of the greatest Songs all times!

  • I feel like the final verse in this version was just perfect. It was incredibly intense, and that along with the feeling in Thom's voice was spot on.

  • a cracked polystyrene man.

  • Every radiohead album is brilliant but in terms of balance of sound and feel through out the album, In Rainbows and Kid A cant be beat.

  • I hate when people put down a Radiohead album or compare them there all fantastic in their own ways and are all masterpieces, Radiohead are the best band ever :P genius.

  • i discovered radiohead when in rainbows came out and was blown away, and now i own and love EVERY SINGLE album they've ever made, and i have quite a few of the 2-disc ones, everything they make is golden!

  • wtf are you talking about? there are plenty of fans who have been listening from the beginning and enjoy kid a... it's just different.

  • the lyrics are just something unbelievable. this song is pure masterpiece.

  • love it!!!!

from pablo honey to in rainbows... NOTHING BUT MAGIC

  • and soon the new album of 2010 :D yeeei !! is going to be so so so amazing :)

  • @Snyltetast fail.

  • @ilikeredandblack you're commenting on a year old comment ? :P back then it was reported they'd release an album in late 2010 ..

  • @Snyltetast I guess not anymore, yeah I know, I was like... well, maybe they're gonna release it on new years or something, cuz they've already done that with scotch mist, but maybe It'll be this year!

  • @YoshiPower65 I AGREE... but actually Kid A i didnt like, maybe because it was just WAY to experimental, dont know, its still a damn good record, but i cant take it. way to much information and way to much changes at once... anyway, i love the bends and ok computer, so do i love amnesiac and in raimbows, hail to the thief and everything... but kid a is like... GET AWAY

  • @IamTheScorchedEarth i got to respectfully disagree, kid a was their release into experimental music, making them far more than a rock band, into an innovative band. They are leading the way for many bands since then in my opinion.

  • @101commentary yeah i mean i never said it wasnt a good record, or that it wasnt innovative i just said that personally i cant understand Kid A its just way to unusual to me, and besides i aint that fond of electronic music, great album of course, but really i cant listen to it without hating it

  • @IamTheScorchedEarth

I can understand why people would not like Kid A more than any other record that Radiohead have done, however, it was undeniably more of a breakaway from the whole 'rock band' persona, which was fantastic in my opinion. I do respect your opinion, I just felt that I had to defend the record, just cuz it means a lot to myself and a lot of people :)

  • @101commentary yeah i guess your right, they werent a rock band anymore after that, they were artists i guess...

  • @IamTheScorchedEarth

I'm sorry I respect your opinion I was just voicing my own :)

  • @101commentary its ok man... her fake plastic watering can, for her fake chinese rubber plant....

  • @IamTheScorchedEarth thumbs up :)

  • @101commentary right back at ya

  • @YoshiPower65 you mean 'from pablo honey to king of limbs...NOTHING BUT MAGIC'

  • Love The Bends, definitely their finest work, I love all of the albums, but Thom's songwriting has never been finer and Greenwood just knew how to make something beautiful out of a guitar, you've also got to love the pessimism of it, ending on a song which Thom Yorke once described as "most songs have some form of light as where street spirit has nothing, just death"

  • Couldn't agree more , the bends is the best IMO as well!

  • i wish jonas brothers were abducted by a pedophilic maniac

  • i agree

  • The Jonas Brothers are a sad case of abused talent. They obviously have potential for something greater, but as Disney saw this, they rushed in and turned them into something soulless and marketable to superficial youths.

    I'm 14 and I love Radiohead. I'll never stop.

  • or maybe they just dont have talent b/c i dont see ANY potential there

  • Perhaps they can turn the superficial youth into something greater? We can always hope...after all, this song^.

  • just a lazy eye is it not?

  • umm im not sure if this is rude but i never really learned what's up with thom's eye?

  • haaahaa...i dunno but im glad it wigs out LOL

  • He was born with facial paralysis.

  • thank you.

  • mamma mia...

  • and to think, most kids today would rather listen to the jonas brothers instead of this, it's a shame really...

  • i dont even consider the jonas brothers a band just a hallow bunch of pre packaged teens with disney logos for souls who sole carrer is bulit on their looks and disney saying their the biggest band ever

  • i couldn't agree more, they're just mindless puppets for disney, who are only famouse because of their "looks"

  • You know, I'm only 17 and I really love Radiohead. This song is just marvellous.

  • wat significance is it that u are 17?

  • age hold no relevance to experience.

  • I hope Radiohead are together for a couple more decades!!!...they just get better and better

  • i don't really like the electro-acoustic guitar for the intro...

  • why are there more comments regarding muse than about this song?

  • Welcome to every Radiohead video. Where people who would kill to blow Bellamy come to say how Radiohead copies/ wishes they were Muse.

    It's actually sad.

  • Because Thom Yorke and Matt Bellamy are apparently the only male vocalists who frequently use falsetto. Therefore, ignoring the fact that Radiohead and Muse sound nothing alike on several other levels, the bands MUST be essentially the same, according to the logic of every douchebag and his dog who has heard maybe two songs by each band.

  • all you did was to compare each band from the other.. lets keep in mind that all individuals are unique. i love radiohead.

  • maybe the most beautiful song ever written

  • @royimsickofit I actually think you could be right there.

  • @royimsickofit hell yeah.

  • Esta mejor la version que tokaron en Cuidad de mexico

  • something about muse makes me not like them. Radiohead is undeniably much better.

  • Radiohead are humble in their awesomeness, whereas muse relish in it

  • Okay I don't get it... Why are Muse compared to these guyes? It's nothing like that?

  • Both Bands have similar voices... accept Radio Head has more softer voice

  • Listen to Showbiz and Hullabaloo. Very similar.

  • showbiz and hullabaloo are both muse...

  • Yeh I know ... Those two albums are the most similar radiohead, and this is why muse are compared to them.

  • Don't get me wrong, I like the OK Computer and Post-Computer computer stuff. But never will they ever surpass The Bends era to me. Yorke seemed at his best vocally when he had his blond hair (which obviously had nothing to do with it...or did it)? :P

  • erm, Post OK-Computer* :P

  • Ah yes, those were the good sunny days when all seemed well and shiny :) Then Thom got beat up on the street, the earth started warming up, Bush became president and, worst of all, I had to go to college. And Radiohead expressed that frustration in 5 amazing albums. And that's why we love them. Imagine them sticking only to albums like The Bends. We would've grown tired after 5 similar albums, don't u think?

  • Of course. There are gems spread all throughout their career. I'll always just be partial to the more simplistic acoustic days, with tracks along the lines of this song, high and dry, and nice dream. not to mention bullet proof.

  • even though the bends is good, i think kid a is their best album.

  • Every Radiohead album is real good, but my favorite album is OK Computer

  • i think we can all agree that radiohead are just fucking awesome in general

  • THE BENDS!!!!!!

  • This version is just so fantastically fantastic! I love it! GAH I LOVE IT

  • Not fake. Definitely the real deal.

  • woah where did this video go!?

  • But gravity always wins.

  • If you ever think to yerself: "fuck. I'm one ugly bastard...."

Turn on this video. It'll make you feel much better.

  • this is the best song to play on the guitar! and its easy to play!

  • Thanks, best, ever!!!!! (1997)

  • if I could be who you wanted...... this is the best song ever! my soul is called: "radiohead". hell yeah!

  • Beautiful. Is that Yeats?

  • is what yeats?

  • William Butler Yeats. A poet.

  • yeah i know who yeats is, im irish lol, but where is there a reference to him in this song?

  • I'm assuming it was sarcasm refferencing the blank comment by wickeddrummer13. Kind of like saying "great contribution" but funnier.

  • Hahaha, much funnier... and more intelligent too.

  • my dream is that when i wake up, i was the person who created this epic song!

  • On our wedding day my wife wanted bon jovi...I said no fucken way but, eventually I gave in.this song reminded me of her and was one of the few bands we both liked, anyway on our wedding day it played as our song, was and still is the best surprise ever,,,,7+ years still married

  • woooow, that's fantastic my friend, i think i would do the same when i get married, this song is perfect

  • @bobby6649 wow! never imagined this as a wedding song..? congratulations for pulling it out! 8 years and counting... :P

  • So many emotions in one song. This song makes me feel of those emotions with all of Radiohead.

Sorry... I am high right now.

  • great

    song

    amazing

  • This song reminds me of her, because she said to me that it reminds her of me. Now that she is with him, this is all I have of her....memories. Fake Plastic Trees reminds me of her now in only the best possible way.

The best Live version I've heard on UT. Tks.

  • Brilliant performance.

    ** yay **

  • i'll listen anytime thom anytime

  • i can't get over this track. It's spellbinding!

Sends shivers down my spine everytime...

    My fake plastic love

  • fucking great song

  • and if i could be who you wanted all the time :'(

  • Where and when was this show?

  • Hammerstein Ballroom, New York City, 12-19-1997 (check: Mtv's 10 Spot)

  • Best band of all time!!

    enough said...
