the german army now is no more than an army to fill the needs of nato ( us, uk, france).

when needed they rise the capacity of bundeswehr, when not needed, they tell germany to reduce army strength because it violates international rules.

if germany wants a real powerful army they need to be independent on their decisions , not to care that much of what western powers think.

I think so, maybe if a new Germany was modeled around imperial Germany, and the pre 1918 German culture revived. But to be honest I think that the reason the West has so many restrictions on Germany is because they know what Germany is capable of, and they know a completely independent Germany led by a strong smart leader would not be bossed around or controlled by anyone.

Kreigsmarine and Luftwaffe have exellent tech(I served alongside them during a training exersize) but their downside is manpower.

If anyone decided to attack europe,the bundeswher,heer,kreigsmarine and luftwaffe would be the only feasible line of defense for continential europe.The british army is tiny and the french couldnt fight if their lives depended on it.The bundeswher is the power of Europe(The russians cant even maintain their 22,000 tanks properly).The only advice I have for deutchsland is to upsize the manpower,and upsize deployment/force projection capabilitys.

The german Bundeswehr is only small,but a very technologically capable force,long history & Tradition(without them europe would have fallen to the soviets during the cold war)they also are well funded,well trained & supplied.The only problem is they have almost nonone to fight.They are stuck bamm smack in the middle of europe and probably are the defenders or europe(UK dosent care french arnet that powerful)

definitely not. the usual compulsory bundeswehrtraining might not be THAT tough, but the special courses every soldier obtains when doing "soldier" as a fulltime-job are among the very best in international rankings.

our national service is crap, we dont train that hard at all, its just to get u ready for fulltime service if u wish to stay, the fulltime training is among the best in the world. standart german soldiers train with the britts and yanks. its kinda hard to say whos the best without a direckt comparison in battle. most vids of training on youtube are from national service, dont get many from full time soldiers.

It depends who is thinking of attacking Europe, if it was russia, Germany and the UK and the other major european nations would trade land for time falling back untill their armies could be properly mobilised untill they would actually counter attack.

Initialy after the war they were restricted to only operating insode their own country, a few years ago that was lifted so they can operate abroad.

Lifted in the 50´s due to the Cold War. The Bundeswehr then proceeded to became one of the biggest armies in NATO. After the reunification, the Bundeswehr was reduced in size by quite a margin due to the 2+4 treaty.
