I'm bisexual so I don't have something against gay people - but I don't like hypocrisy. Gay people have a right to march down the street and proclaim their sexuality. Christian preachers have just as much right to denounce it. "I may disagree with what you say, but I'll fight to the death for your right to say it". Actually, the English Christians who are against homosexuality are in the minority. For the most part, Christians here are not homophobic in the slightest. England is pretty gay friendly as you can see from how few protesters there were at the Gay Pride events. Evolution would contradict the Second Law of Thermodynamics IF the Earth were a closed system, which the Second Law of Thermodynamics applies to. Actually, the English Christians who are against homosexuality are in the minority. For the most part, Christians here are not homophobic in the slightest. England is pretty gay friendly as you can see from how few protesters there were at the Gay Pride events. I'm not going to deny factual reality on the off chance that the one religion that I pick on faith out of thousands that exist happens to be the right one. If God does exist, there's absolutely no evidence to suggest that it's the Christian God. So you may end up standing before someone else's God!

@missdeckchair in order to get into heaven, the same God of the Bible is the same God who the Jews worship, this does not suggest we must become jews but God had turned to non-jews because the jews rejected God who by himself became a human being, so that he can receave the wrath of his father on our part this is why Jesus said the Father Judges no man but Judgement was past to the son in the book of John 5:22 for this reason this is how God can love us if only we inherit his love it is.

Evolution would contradict the Second Law of Thermodynamics IF the Earth were a closed system, which the Second Law of Thermodynamics applies to. But the earth isn't a closed system, it is constantly receiving energy from an outside source - the sun! And anyway, simply being a chemical engineer with some qualifications doesn't make you an expert in the fields of biology, genetics, geology or evolution.

No religion can tell us what happens after death either, it's all complete and utter guess work! You have absolutely no proof there is a heaven, a hell or even a God to meet after death, let alone your personal God. You would be disqualified from any official debate, because that is a local fallacy (you've actually used a number of them in our discussion). The burden of proof is with the person making the positive assertion. You are asserting that God exists and that he is the God of the Bible and that people should obey him - it is for YOU to prove that true, not for me to prove it not true.

@missdeckchair I did not say I hold to an interpritation the Bible is in it self able to interprite it self, if you had read the Greek words the Bible uses it would show when the Bible speaks it is speaking litrally, you will know the correct interpritation when you understand it in the context of what was written, yes some parts in the Bible are idioms to explain the Kingdom of God, this is not symolism.

@godsplumbline Actually I was raised a fundamentalist Christian and we studied the Bible in both English and original Hebrew and Greek all days of the week. I am more than familiar with all manner of Biblical translations and history. No where does Greek or Hebrew directly assert that the Bible texts are literal. In fact, up until the time of Emperor Constantine, no one could even decide on which books were actual Biblical canon! Many Bible books, now part of the Apocrypha, have been omitted.
