Ron Paul 2012. I just hope it's not too late. The prospects of what might happen in light of a pending economic collapse and the government's ability to declare martial law for "other reasons" (read it; that's the legislation now) paint a dark picture.
When I hear people say the recession is over - what can you say? I don't want to rain on their parade but it's just not possible - "jobless recovery"???
75% of the american economy is based on consumer spending. xmas sales will be 65% down this year. countries will start dumping the dollar by november. The paper tiger will catch on fire In january. The reserve bank doesnt want anyone to audit them because they never did have money to pay as "lender" of last resort. celente is right about desperation. the prospects for states to withdraw from the union has never been better
AStarSpangledGirl, when I say a mixed economy, that is because if you want an economy of millions of SMEs, you need government regulation and intervention. Unregulated markets inevitably lead to (corporate) monopolies. You need the state to break up monopolies and maintain competition.
I am very happy with the government owning the *infrastructure* I need to do business and for customers to get my products - roads, transport systems, healthcare, the mail, etc. - 'the commons'.
Let's get one thing straight though. The likes of Fox News cannot say - look, the economy is collapsing, without owning up to their 'free market', 'the government is the problem', whatever is good for the corporate bottom line is good for the economy' ideology.
Stable economies are mixed economies, with a place for government and business, and a balance between supply (corporate capital) and demand (wages and income in general).
Ok, for the record, I believe in small 'capitalism', not corporate capitalism. I believe in an economy of hundreds of thousands (millions for the US) of small and medium sized enterprises.
Competition, instead of monopolies, job creation instead of 'efficiency' only, invention instead of market domination.
No mr. Celente, Mussolini did not call 'the merger of state and business fascism'. He said: when the state owns the corporations, it is called communism. When the corporations own the state, it is called fascism.
And for the corporate shills of fox news channel - you weasels cannot blame this economic collapse on Barack Obama.
If anything, President Obama is far too corporate. He needs to get rid of the whole Wall Street (Goldman Sachs) clique.
This destruction of demand (incomes) has been going on since Reagan in 1980. Getting rid of social programs and corporate raiding resulting in massive joblosses, downsizing, rigthsizing, resulted in a massive reduction income for the middle class. This was then replaced with credit by keeping interest rates artificially low for a prolonged period of time - this was not done by Barack Obama.
Let's hope and pray he is not another Bill Clinton.

tiger...stop confusing CORPORATISM with CAPITALISM
AStarSpangledGirl 2 years ago
I haven't even used the word capitalism.
tigerone1970 2 years ago
you didn't have to

tigerone1970 2 years ago
whats the difference?
HayteStreet 2 years ago
are you serious? you must be a liberal...lol.
CORPORATISM is when large corporations are in bed with the government and they are the only ones that truly benefit from the relationship.
CAPITALISM is when the government butts out and sticks to it's responsibilities and allows the free market to take it's course.
Corporatism = corruption
Capitalism = prosperity
