  • very nice

  • gg

  • stunning

  • Looks good. Nice job.

  • It's real....

  • something is wrong with theese sites that sell 3d models. 40% for the creator and 60%for them is pure robbery!

  • @AlexanderrrL You're free to start your own hosting site, where you come up with your own revenue system to pay for hosting, storage and bandwidth.

  • REAL!

  • Wait... this is not real ? oO

  • make a screensaver

  • @712maggot

GOOD idea. please please make it a screensaver.

I wud also buy this if it was a program I could start to have a break and look at the sea.

    It looks AMAZING

  • Am I the only one who was reminded of the menu screens for SHip Sim 2008 during watching this? :P great work, wish I could do stuff like this as good as you =D

  • can you have a link for this scene? please?..

  • it's on turbosquid

  • If I could make water like this, I'd be soooo happy.

  • dude could you have text come out of the ocean, have water drip off of it and have it float in midair? if i get 3ds max would i be able to do that? oh and how well could i render something like this with a quad core @2.6Ghz 8GB RAM? (or does rendering depend on graphics card? because i have a sloppy Radeon HD 4650)

  • Realflow would be the plugin for that. It's cpu, graphics card won't make a difference in rendering time with 3dsmax

  • @powerandrubber so like amount of cores? i have a quad core @2.6 Ghz so how fast would this render on my commputer?

  • That's faster than any of my machines so I think it would be fast. I think I originally rendered this on a dual core. Depends a lot on resolution

  • This is very nice, it looks very real :)

  • this looks so real!!!!! i'm trying to perfect my water

  • wow

  • It looks real :D

  • its been rendering even before the earth was created... unlike chuck norris... omg

  • Looks just like Killzone 3 water.

  • well.. that was so real that i was expecting a shark jumping from water..

    damn that would be scary..

  • 1) Hold your breath.

    2) Copy all of these steps.

    3) Go to two other video.

    4) Paste it in the comments.

If you can do all of this without breathing your legend

  • Comment removed

  • @PineTreeAndCone this takes skill dumb shit, not to mention people get paid a shit load to my Digital art like this

  • @CarrollGaming chill mate, i was telling some prick on here to stop spamming. i wasn't commenting on the video. its good stuff I know.. i study 3D animation at University. safe x

  • Awesome, Good Job.

  • Amazing really nice work!

  • pretty nice ocean ! check mine done in maya !

  • that actually looks real.

  • Water in Crysis is also great :)

  • @nidzaPFC Crysis is facking shit!!

  • @aei05h1 thats because u still play super mario :)

  • @nidzaPFC So you agree, cool!

  • Wow! I didn't know its possible to create so realistic sea scenes, already. Do you think it would be possible to incorporate that level of graphics in a simulator of a ship ?

  • I can almost smell the ions oozing from the screen.. amazing.

  • How?

  • it looks like somethings trying to get out f the water.

  • what's the program name?

  • can someone please post a tutorial on how to do this please, it is super-realistic!

  • i actually thought t was real

  • funny thing is this video was posted 2007

  • Looks almost real. But you could still tell it's fake, though.

  • directx 11!

  • Terragen 2 could do better.

  • god this is awsome! i wish i could do this stuff xD

  • you didnt made that scene

  • Where is the tutorial???

  • cool

  • the water itself looks awesome, but why does it look like ur using a bended lens or summin?

  • why would u record real water and say its digital : )

  • and then free willy pops out

  • Aaah!! I'm going to drown-- oh wait, it's just a video. Whew!

  • you used fall off for the white caps?

  • Wanna see more .. youtube.com/watch?v=g29nhJofX_U

  • You Call That 3d? I call that Real That Was Amazing Good Job =)

  • Man overboard!!!!!

  • near to reality. good work.

  • I'm having difficulty creating realistic moving water. A tutorial would be greatly appreciated. Or, could you direct me to a good place to look for something along these lines?

  • is this real life?

  • CooL :D

  • can i run this in background, i hav pentium 3

  • what kind of software is that?

  • it looks really awesome..

  • this is used in movies i think

  • not bad at all, but I would put a little more movement in the largest of your noise modifiers. Maybe drag the gizmo out over the timeline so the larger waves move a bit.

  • @powerandrubber This will be in my Favourites and likes and as my dreamscene desktop when you create a 1080p version :D

  • come on this is sooooooo, FAKE. wait... no i mean this is really the ocean. lol that is awesome!!!*****

  • too much "real" LOL ... Greatest Work ever..!! keep it up

p.s If u can post a tutorial it can be usefull xD

  • It is awesome man, very good job !

The behavior of the water is weird sometimes, but its quite excellent.

  • Great!

    Very realistic!

  • great work

  • So I have to apologize. You actually made it yourself and it´s really lookin cool! 4 stars.

  • not a single answer from the author? Seems that CJCA915 is right, telling it´s a pre-made scene.

    What software did you use?

  • No it's not a pre-made scene. The process is described in the description. 3dsmax+vray. Scene is available at Turbosquid.

  • HOLYCRAP!!!!

  • @Luxeferian HOLYCRAP!!! is the word my friend

  • FUCKING AMAZING!omfg

  • That is very well made, congrats!

  • sweet, how do you do this?

  • wow!!! nice job man

  • This looks a lot like a pre-made scene that comes with DreamScape.

  • it's fantastic! but it has more of a feeling like a river than an ocean! the water flows too directional to be an ocean! still impressive!! 4*

  • best i have ever seen

  • can i do this on realflow only using a realwave

  • really nice man !!

  • 5 stare man

  • WOW this is amazing

  • Superb! Just needs some sound, and this would be extremely believable. Really well done. Makes me so damn thirsty, I could just jump in and start chugging until I drown! Love to see the same scene done again but with carbonated water. Sparkling water is THE BOMB!!

  • great. with this kind of standard you can

ply your trade in movie fx industry. 2 thumbs up!!

  • amazing, it looks real. 5 stars

  • Wow!!!!! Im very impresed. Right now im making the Battle Ship Bismarck in 3ds max and im thinking of this to be the ocean with some fog! very nice 5 stars!

  • really nice

  • that wasnt real? OMG amazing

  • nice! verry realistic.

  • omg! Better than crysis!

  • very well done

  • is this a realwave, realflow?

  • Love the water from Titanic it looks so real, and the ship itself too! And the little people at the start, can't believe they're all fake!

  • if u mean when the film goes back to 1912 port, yeah. i thought they masked on the left and the rest was set but then the whole trick was revealed.

  • it looks so real

  • showoff

  • What is the renderer that you used?

  • the descrip say v-ray

  • nice

  • YEAH!! Great!!

  • Holy...

  • video-games will never be the same agan...

  • This looks me real! Great job!

  • This is a maya scene, isn't it ?! Can I get the project file, or a tutorial on how this scene is made.

  • that looks freaking unreal... one question tho... should the horizon line be more straight? (i wouldnt kno coz i do go to the beach often)

  • or maybe u need to watch more videos of fluid effects and realize how this one is 100000000000000000000000000000 times better then alot of stuff on youtube

  • THAT LOOX F***IN' REALISTIC!!!

  • please PLEASE PLEEAAASEE make a 3d max tutorial!

  • This is great, tho Id much rather learn to make it myself than to download it from you.

  • Amazing Looks Real

  • Very Nice! :)

  • I mean, what the heck. This is so freakin real!!

  • HOLY SHIP

  • how did you do this?

have you got a tutorial of this??

  • what is dreamscape and how can you use it ?

  • did you use dreamscape for the sea surface? and vraysky?

  • vray

  • beautiful!!!!

  • bravo!

  • looks like the water on Army of Two very nice

  • nice!真棒,看起来很真实,你太有才咯。

  • Very nice.... The shader looks really good, some pointers on the reflecting and offset please... I think the background u sorta either got a really nice texture, or u used hemisphereical(irridiance) lightning.

  • one of the nices oceans. put all algorithms in code and sell it to game companies for games.

  • nice man! what kind of map did you use for the vray displacement and how did you animate that?

  • this is really beautiful

  • i would really really love to see a tutorial on how to do this.. pleaaase..

  • er.. built in mate, probably took you 5 mins

  • looking v nice

  • impressive!

  • That looks more like a home movie.

  • Thanks all. I rendered this in hi def. Posted at wayneharney dot com/post/ocean-hd.avi. Xvid codec, about 30mb

  • You relly can't make the best models without V-Ray rendering, just beautiful, my dearest congratulations.

  • Just GORGEOUS! It's so hard to make a large body of water! I'm VERY impressed!

  • You can all create this easily with a 3D Max Plug-in called Dreamscape. In minutes you could be rendering oceans like this.

  • You can do oceans out of the box with Lightwave 3D, no plug-ins required.

  • Dang man that's sick. I haven't tried making an ocean yet but this really inspires me to.

  • thats incredible!

  • i wanna swim in that! it looks so real! GREAT job!

  • excellent job!!

  • How long it took for rendering each frame?

    very nice job.

    x.

  • Thanks

    I think it was about 10 minutes/frame @ 800x600 on an X24200

  • Wow, that means a 120 minute animation movie will take only 20 hours to render.

  • mmm I don't think so. If you take 10mins/frame * 25 (PAL Framerate - 30 if using NTSC) * 60 (secs in a min) * 120 (mins in 'animation movie') = 1,800,000mins (30,000 hours/1,250 days/3.422years to render o.O). So I believe 20 hours is a little off ;)

Please anyone correct me if the math/thinking is out. :)

  • i don't know people rated u as a poor comment when u are indeed right. if u don't want people to correct u then make sure u don't make a mistake in the first place

  • ee.... 10min*30frames=300 ..=5h ..

I think.. it is possible to cheat somehow back part of ocean.. it may speed up render many times... :D

  • wow thats amazing

  • any chance of a video tutorial?

  • Hey what the size of your max file and is there a download link for it?,.. Livewire- :p

  • Super water - respect!

But, it's remember me on the Dosch Water, i think there was a cool water plugin.

  • Just GORGEOUS! It's so hard to make a large body of water! I'm VERY impressed!

  • Really nice animation, good work!

PS: Do you know where I could find a wave generator for 3d Studio Max 9? The one by Charles Hollemeersch doesn't work with version 9.

  • I don't know, some have mentioned dreamscape but I've never used it.

  • It does work for version 9 now.. 32/64 bit

  • hey man, great video. I downloaded the same and it works pretty well, just wondering how did u go on about doing it smooth, i get those funny pixelated efges if u know what i mean?

How did u smoothen it up?

    cheers

  • You might have to add a meshsmooth or turbosmooth mod.

  • meshmooth and turbosmooth make it odd

  • Ok there's a subdivision setting in the properties. Raise it to 8 or 9 depending on what your machine can handle.

  • I did try that, it can handle up to 9 but it doesnt look as smooth as in ur video :D

cheers and keep up the good work

  • I rendered a displacement map sequence and used it in a new scene, maybe that makes it smoother. I rendered to 2000x2000 px and saved to floating point EXR. Then I used vray displacement on top of max displacement (at different UVWs) to get it more random and hide tiling. Then procedural cellular and smoke in the bump slot of the material.

  • hey i have 3ds max 9 how do you do this any tutorial??

  • I LOVE YOUR VIDEO and would like to use on a project for a big music festival here in LA. If you could send me a link to where I can download it with the highest definition possible, I will edit the best youtube clips into a one hour movie and project it to a large screen during the music festival. Also, I will send you a copy of the video once it's done, and will give all the artist their deserved credit!

Please contact me via d.agua @ yahoo dot com

  • and with deformer you have used? dreamscape or other? thanks

  • Can't post URLs for some reason so google "Charles Hollemeersch" and download his wave generator.

  • good job

  • Thanks. I used Vray and 3dsmax.

  • whats this done in?
