Hello there! I went to Chapman University for film school for two years, right before they built the studio and switched the name (8 years ago now...wow). I just posted all my old/awful miniDV projects that we had to make....which is how I found your video. It is beautiful and inspiring. the camera that I have uses 35mm lenses which allows you to change the aperture. It makes it look better because the depth of field is shorter and not everything is in focus.

Nice, I'm loving the video. I'm applying to Chapman and USC this fall/winter. What editing system do you use? I just have a sony dvd handycam, and the only compatible software I can find is SOny Vegas, which isn't too great...

The Mark II is a picture camera right, not a video camera, atleast not specifically.

Are you aware of any great video cameras that might look as crisp as this?

@JustinOberts Thanks! and the 5D is a DSLR but with video capabilities. But i think most people that get the camera use it for the video option. It's actaully a really popular camera now for independent films because it's so cheap. With a low budget you can get this look from dslr camera with video capabilities or get a regular video camera and buy a 35mm adapter so you can put interchangeable lenses on it.
