  • ok I think I'll stick to proper riding that we have here in Australia...

  • it's true, it does not matter but it helps in these classes to have the right fourm.

  • so um my mother's position is better now then in this video. This video is like 20+ years old....

  • Oh K8, Now, Don't date me that far back. This was in 1994. And as you know, half the people on youtube comment and know nothing of what they talk about! :-)

  • Hi Guys...French looks great Phil! and this does date you lol

  • true

  • i love how people say that they arent trying to be mean.... but they say stuff anyway....i love morganss......om nom nom

  • Um, Peggy Alderman is one of the best trainers of Morgan horses AND exhibitors in the Morgan world... She rides for success, and gets it consistently. Happy horses, happy customers.BTW, I seriously doubt this is an equitation class anyway. This is a Pleasure Gelding class, listen to the announcer at the end...

  • cute horse.

he reminds me of sarde's sinful.

  • does Peggy Alderman own this horse?

  • haha! i alway hate the obnoxious organ music at shows, but it makes me happy lol

  • not trying to be mean or anything but that person has a horrible position! but the horse is beautiful!!!!

  • what makes the position horrible? It looks fine to me. You see, the way saddleseat riders ride is different than huntseat and dressage.

  • Her position is not horrible, but it is not very good either. Saddleseat riders should not be titled forward with their shoulders taut and hunched like that. I can not see her feet too well, but it does look like she has a minimal weight in her heels, and at the canter her legs swing out in front of her. Albeit, this is not an equitation class and perfect position matters less if you can ride a horse right, but it certainly helps in riding a horse correct and looks a lot nicer.

  • In saddleseat you don't put any weight in your heels like you would in hunter. all your pressure is from your knee up. From the knee down your leg floats straight down with your toes pointing directly forward. I did hunter for years before learning saddleseat and trying to hold your leg in that position is quite hard.

  • Proper Saddleseat riding does not involve putting all your weight in your toes and only using from the knee up. If that is how you are being taught it is improper.

  • yah, thats the way most saddleseat trainers look, it bothers me 2! lol

  • It can't be that horrible if she won the class. It WAS an equitation class..

  • French Market (Troutbrook Hallmark X Green Meads Sunshine) Foaled 1986. This video was in 1994. He's retired (I think) in Washington state.

  • hey tickleytiger or watever ur name is not to be rude but dont EVER insult us saddleseat people because u have no idea what ur talking about

  • wow, that is a nice horse =] i've got a morgan i show saddleseat from the I Will Command and UVM Promise lines.

  • anyone ever hear of Tug Hill Northmark ?

  • im sorry but that person has absolutely terrible position... lol

    even for saddle seat.

  • Do you know of any saddleseat shows in Texas? I don't show, but I would love to see this in person!

  • I don't really know. I know that the Oklahoma Centennial Horse Show is coming up in April in OKC which will feature both Saddlebreds and Morgans doing saddleseat, but not sure about Texas, but I know there have to be some because there are quite a few show barns in Texas. I would go to the UPHA website to start searching for shows. (United Professional Horseman's Association)

  • @hcarrel26 Ya, in thexas there is one up in Dallas. I showed up there a few times

  • @herewefly Yeah, I just found out about the Dallas show in May about a week ago. Believe it or not, I just found out that the stable 5 minutes from my house is a saddlebred stable (it used to be and I still thought it was an arabian training/show stable) and the trainer there told me about the show. Small world!

  • @herewefly Yeah, I just found out about the Dallas show in May about a week ago and will definitely try to check it out. Believe it or not, I just found out that the stable 5 minutes from my house is a saddlebred stable (it used to be and I still thought it was an arabian training/show stable) and the trainer there told me about the show. Small world!

  • umm no they actually RARELY hav weighted shoes. thanx for your uneeded opionion though.

  • ticklytiger (retard) we don't use weighted shoes on our horses you dumb shit. The only breed of horse that I've ever heard of wearing weighted shoes are Tennessee walkers. Not Morgans, Saddlebreds, Arabians etc

  • @XIXDeadGirlXIX666 - Ive heard of weighted shoes being put on Morgans. Anything with a pad is going to add some weight.

  • I think I've seen French Market competeing before. He is gorgeous! Is he out of Futurity French?

  • No, by Troutbrook Hallmark and out of Green Meads Sunshine. :-)

  • Well, either way he is beautiful!! I was asking because I recently purchased a gelding out of Futurity French.

  • Hello Phil, I get to bother you again with more questions, haha. Been a awhile, huh? :)

Anyway, this is a Connecticut Morgan Horse Show?! My mare's half sister has one a show in Connecticut and took forth place there too. What year did you and Max show here?

  • Max showed there off and on throughout the 90's. He was Junior Horse English Pleasure Champion in 1992, Open English Pleasure Champion in 1994, Jr. Ex. Pleasure Driving Champion 1996, Jr. Ex English Pleasure Champion in 1998 and Pleasure Driving Jr. Ex. Champion in 1998.

  • Ah I see. I take it Connecticut was the start of the showing thing?

Did you ever hear of Activity's Shadow? She had taken first place in Park Saddle at a Connecticut Morgan show in 1996.

  • Actually, my first show with Max was at Jubilee Regional in Springfield Illinois. My first class ever on Max is also under my profile on youtube, if you want to check it out. The story is, we bought him from Peggy Alderman in 1994 after Connecticut, Showed him at Jubilee, and won 1994 World Champ English Pleasure Jr. Ex. and World Champ. Jr. Ex. Pleasure Driving. After a year of not working well, we sent him back to Peggy Alderman's in Vermont and showed with her till the end of my career.

  • omg i ride saddleseat tooooo it is soo fun.. specially the road trot!!!

  • omg i ride saddle seat toooooo

  • It's rather fun isn't it? I have like 43 videos under my profile name of Saddleseat riding. Just click on the blue "PhilG380" and it will take you to all my videos. :-)

  • I think i was there... bravo hott!!!!!

    5/5

  • I will be uploading several more videos tomorrow evening. Make sure and check them out. There are going to be more of French Market, Particular Red, On Center Stage, UVM Nappi, OH Inspiration, and Funquest Chiaro. Just got to get with my audo/video guy.

  • Yes, they won the class.

  • I couldnt understand the announcer: Did Peggy Alderman and your horse place 1st?

  • I'm glad you put these up. I've really wanted to see my mare do all that.

I have a Morgan mare that used to do dressage and all that, until she broke her cannon bone in a Hunt Seat accident.

  • Ouch..

  • I know. Now she's too beat up to even compete. Se got more injuries from a barb-wire fence (which is why I hate that kind of fencing) down he rneck and chest. She's no good for fnacy shows now, but her bloodlines are very hard to come across so they kept her alive and have been abusing her as a broodmare.

She dances like a dressage horse. I'll kill to watch her in a show just once.

  • Please Take a look at my profile now. Click on the blue "PhilG380" and it will take you to my homepage. There are now 35 Videos on my homepage for you to watch. They include, More of French Market, OH Inspiration, UVM Nappi, Particular Red, On Center Stage, Carmen San Diego, and Funquest Chiaro.

  • You'll notice there are several top trainers in the class. Peggy Alderman on my horse French Market, Rick Stevens, Mike Goebig on FH Sudden Breeze, and David Rand on Rumbrook Galahad along with a few others. So it was a deep class.

  • 2007?

  • Nope, 1994 believe it or not. LOL.

  • omg. i was like born two years b4 that.
