  • is this fucking real? lol

  • Why did they never repeat or make another series of this? The "Look Out East" section is utterly exquisite!

  • I think Benedict can give all those symptoms counted. ;)

    Death-yes. The Reichenbach Fall.

  • Francis, yes.

  • and of course, in extreme cases, death.

  • ahaha

  • Cumberbatch is on the case!

  • LOL

  • Benedict is so cute! :D

  • Francis yes

  • BC!

  • Benedict Cumberbatch there as the PVS live reporter.

  • Look Out East is amazing! Russ is my hero.... and that story about the stolen teeth was hilarious!

  • lol! Yeah, I always loved it when Russ was on Broken News. He was my favourite.

  • you sir (or indeed madam) are a human being (i presume) of the highest order. have a biscuit.

  • Very appropriate for the moment!

  • i just looove the small talk with the weather man hahaha

  • i like how they just ended the video at death. lol

  • Anyone know of any other good Breaking News clips about the internet or YouTube? I really liked the finance reports (with teletype reports on the price of Victorian Plasmas, Penny Chews, Jub Jubs and Gay Steel) and the film reviewer who sucks up to the star but pans them or the film afterwards. Classic!

  • this was very funny but tame.

what we need are some real truths reflecting the farce and circus that is the 'news' - the very fact that it's called 'the news' is itself comical. it's role as a political tool and cognitive conditioner for example. i find 'news/journalism' as ineffectual 'spectator' itself a perverse construct.

  • if broken news doesn't reflect the farce/circus aspect of the news then what does?

it's "very funny" so how can it be "tame", as it effectively ridicules those issuing what you describe as cognitive conditioning?

Perhaps you're after an epistemological deconstructive essay, rather than a tv show?

  • that epistemological essay sounds fun. well, you got me. i was just expressing how i found it very funny, but lacking. i can't for the life of me recall what i may have been refering to - i'll back down now cos i have zilch to offer - all i can muster is that i felt it could have been more hard-hitting - but it's mainstream humour - so there you go - i'm just silly and fussy - attractive combo

  • come now, you have plenty to offer you fussy old thing. Perhaps you could write that essay analysing the perverse spectators of ineffectual journalism?

  • aha! - you may be onto something - i might squeeze it in to life one day and dedicate my motivation to you. ;)

  • i would be honoured :)

  • You might be looking for something like The Day Today. Check it out, it's hilarious and very hard hitting.

  • this failed miserably in comparison to iannuci's satire

  • i actually thought this was way better than the day today in a lot of respects.

day today is still great tho.

  • this failed in the fact that it was safe satire. they even laughed about it on the news which makes it seriously uncool

  • I agree. I thought this series was more subtle.

  • It was more like a Python version of The Day Today. Morris is hilarious, but this just takes the gags and makes them funny even after the third time of "Coming up, more on this but first what's coming up after this"
