You see how the gears were jerking in the M5? Well that's in the fastest setting and that's why it is more violent. So one can only assume that if you were to engage the fastest gear setting you'd also disengage the DSC (which you have to so do setting S7) and engage the 500 PS Sport mode.
Yes there are different shift speeds for the SMG drivelogic for both auto and manual mode. M dynamic mode is a mode for the DSC (Dynamic stability control) which has nothing to do with the shift speeds (but you have to turn off DSC to gain access to S6 mode). M dynamic mode does not affect shift speed is what I'm basically saying.

judging from what i can see from this video, the m5 was not set on the highest gearshift option which is mode "D6". At 0:03 it says "D5" which also points out that the traction is not turned off. You can only turn off the traction at mode D6 which won"t cause much wheelspin and delay. D6 is the fastest gearshift change on the M5. I happen to own one.

the 1st race is probably with traction control on. because they dont spin the tires notice it says off on the top of the screen on the other 2 races and that they spin the tires on the other 2 races too. these guys are stupid as shit... in one of the episodes the guy got a 12.8 quarter mile time on a C6 Z06, he almost got beat by an EVO.... and plus, was the car on "M" mode, because the M5's SMG transmission does not shift that slow.... these guys dont know how to drive.
m5 is faster because it has a an ugly fast gear box with no comfort, look at drift king head, otherwise m5 is not a good car and not a better engine, it is weaker because of higher mercedes benz luxury and higher weight m5 is faster.
the M5's launch sucked, take off traction control, make sure the M5 is producing all 507hp change the gearing on the M5 so it shifts quicker its not a manual so why that much lag between shifts i've seen the M5 enough to know it should be a hell of a lot closer than that. they both get to 60 around the same time they were never close which is crap. REMATCH!

In a 1/4 mile, the more torquey car will win. Torque is what makes a car quick off the line.
The Mercedes has a big 'ol supercharged V8 with 150 more pounds of torque than the M5.
9 times out of 10 the CLS55 will win in the 1/4 mile.

It's the CLS55 AMG that has the 517bhp engine. It also has more tourque too.

The earlier CL55s had the 476bhp (479PS) engine. It was later uprated to 493...then 500 and finally 517bhp.
It's confusing I know but look at SL55 AMG power outputs to see what I mean.

Look at any review around the world, either in a top magazine or TV show, the M5 is superior in terms of performance to the CLS55 AMG...
The new CLS63 AMG though will be more of a match but that isn't launched till next year...
