  • 90's is the best year for music and i dunno why.

  • @MrPibbs100 And cartoons, and tv shows, and movies... well, okay, Nostalgia Critic points out a lot of crappy movies, but you know.. at least they're nostalgic, movies these days are just "watch it and leave it"... if that makes sense... xP

  • lovers out of time

  • Love it... Cowboy Hat might be a little too Bono, but I still love it.

  • @EverettCaseyI The audio from this vid is terrible. Buy the song.

  • I remember when first aired on MTV and said "Holy shit, Bill Corgan is bald now? Does he have cancer?"

  • One of my favourite songs in the whole world :]

  • @BeMyEbonyPearl me too and im also from ireland :)

  • My girlfriend told me she was pregnant back in '97 when this song was on MTV. Very ironic, i know

  • kmo olvidar esto ase ya unos ayers!!

  • Poor James Iha....he doesn't have much luck at that job.

  • did billy really sit on a crane at the beginning?

  • @Undead1036 Yes it was the 90's. CGI was rare.

  • @dansemacabre17 lol just had to ask, really BA of billy lol

  • This song reminds me of sitting in my room, listening to all the tapes my mom gave me while growing up..i wish i knew were those were.

  • i like thi 90s... a lot. but just the movies seem so akward and weird sometimes.

  • I love cranking up the volume at the beginning of this song and just letting the music smash my skull in.

  • awesome =)

  • I miss...

    The "Innocence" of the 90's,

Having to arrange a time to meet a friend at the mall and being there on time

cause you didn't have a cell to pardon your tardiness,

Having to calla girl between certain times so her parents would answer the house phone,

Waiting around all night to hear your song on the radio so you could record it onto a cassette tape,

The world got too damn small,

    too damn busy,

    to "convenient".

  • @TheVenetianLion I remember waiting for my fave songs to play lol...What an epic post...totally true

  • @TheVenetianLion

    shed a manly tear

    too much technology

and its only going to get worse..damn, this next generation is gonna suck harder than the current one.

  • @TheVenetianLion

    perfectly said

  • @TheVenetianLion

    So true!

  • @TheVenetianLion How fucking amazing were they!

  • @TheVenetianLion I completly agree with you, I remeber having to arrange a time with my BFF whenever we wanted to do something, calling around a certain ,everything lmao

  • @TheVenetianLion There's a song in that somewhere

  • @TheVenetianLion Agreed.. I kind of hate being a 00's teen. :/

I feel like I should have been born in my parents time. The 80's and 90's just seem so much better. I was 6 when '99 ended, so I wasn't really able to enjoy the 90's... o__O'

  • best start to a song

  • this is cool :)

  • I never tire of hearing this song

  • might just be the greatest song ever written

  • I remembered a time when White people were cool.

  • Love James' hair in this vid.

  • This band (special this music) Remind me a couple of "smashing" friends ... in a very good way !!! Long time ... xx

  • I promise you the next time we'll be perfect, as we were. When I listen to this song, I think about you and the time that we shared, I especially can't forget the moments when we used to listen to Smashing Pumpkins in your car and in my bedroom. I still miss you..

  • @GiulietBons i miss you too

  • I like to play this song in my head after an breakup....

  • Beautiful man, beautiful song

  • adore is totally underated

  • so nostalgic. i never knew this song will make me cry 7 years after... i really miss the days back when i am still innocent. *sigh*

  • @joowanawana I lost that and much more ... but I think I can still return

  • Probably already been said, but I love the cassette/car roof analogy to the real filming of the video for 1979 - very poignant! (if you're not sure what I mean, google the filming of 1979's video, you'll understand).

  • One of the songs I'll never forget...

  • "Perfect" description!

  • God bless the 90s

  • This song is ok

  • @marietto2008 It's spelled perfect* :P

  • @marietto2008 It is perfect

  • Although I miss the 90s like crazy, there's no sense mythologizing it as a decade of wall-to-wall great music. We had to deal with Hanson, for fuck sake!

Point is, there was good AND bad stuff then, just like there's good AND bad stuff now.

Don't any of you listen to Arcade Fire? or Interpol? or Kasabian? to name just 3 great current bands.

And hey, many of the 90s bands are still around, making new albums and touring.

  • @1980NewWave i totally agree that every generation has it's good & bad artists, but today there's way more crap than there is art, but like you said we've got many from the 90's, like radiohead, the offspring, 311, and goldfinger, and the ones who disbanded but got back together: blink 182, eve 6, third eye blind, and rage against the machine, and those are just the mainstream bands that were most litened to, others were great but forgotten fairly quick

  • @1980NewWave there was more bad music in the 2000s and now in the teens. much more. nowadays, you have to dig for the great stuff. it wasn't like this a decade ago really.

in the 90s, there was a nice majority of great music that was mainstream from rock, electronica, hip-hop, etc.

  • I was 18 when this came out. I was pretty depressed teenager (no, not a sob story...life's great now at 31....fuck I'm old :)) and for completely unknown reasons, this song captivated me. It had that mixture of a great overall message, nostalgia for the way things were, and sadness for the way things could never be. Particularly poignant that the two-timing girl loses BOTH guys - one presumably dies in the car accident, the other one arrested and likely tossed in jail.

    SP always.

  • I am not sure if many know that is song/video is a continuation of the song/video 1979... I thought that was cool when I found that out! just thought I would share! :)

  • hey i just wanna say ive had a youtube account for a very short period of time.... and its hard not to reply to idioteque statements, but ill keep trying, i know it looks dumb to argue with people on here, so as of now im done fighting on the voting subject and whatnot, cause these fools have nothing informed to say

  • @3Hits4Felix who care dumb ass

you standing up for some real bullshit

  • Why is he wearing a cowboy hat

  • sick song...

  • i hate youtube fights

  • @320lana but sometimes, they are pretty effing funny.

  • @Just2pisUoff yes there are

  • i think this is one of the saddest pumpkins videos

  • Dear God no one can get a sound as good as the Smashing Pumpkins

  • All I have to say to both of you....

    Vote or Die Bitch

  • Continuation of the video of 1979

  • I'm not a fan of pre-2000 music, but I really like this song.

  • @ThisAccountHasNoUse Also, you clearly have terrible taste in music.

  • @ThisAccountHasNoUse - not a fan of ANY pre-2000 music? I shudder to think what's on your ipod

  • saan na ang smashing pumkins ngaun..mis u guyzz

  • My girlfriend broke up with me today because of my parents. But next time, maybe we will be perfect....

  • This is definitely in my favorites.......

  • love this song, definitely one of my favourites........

  • i sooooooooooooooo miss the 90s!

  • 1979 part 2. Good song, though.

  • This is the sequel to 1979 btw

  • This song will always reming me of what me little group has become. Yes, we all have diferent lives, and yes, they are all great in their own way. But as I sit here alone in Germany, while my husband is in Afghanistan and my friends are in the states, not speaking to each other besides to me, it hurts. We grew up listening to the Pumpkins and thought our group would be together forever. We would grow together, stay friends, stay in relationships with each other, etc. I still miss the past. :(

  • @dicygirl03 I dont have a loved one in afghanistan but I moved away from home and I always thought our lil tight group would always be there for eachother but like you people do their own things and thats life and I feel your pain all that matters is you try to be there and have those friendships/relationships with those people even if it is longdistance its worth it and also dont miss the past Enjoy those thoughts of the past and try to make new memories because time stops for no one

  • @dicygirl03 time flies!! that's 4 sho.

  • @dicygirl03 it's never too late to try and have a re-union. Time and space can vanish if the bond is still there ;-) hoping the best for you and thank you for your husband's service!!!!!

  • @dicygirl03 don't worry, your friends in america are probably too busy looking at their cellphones. i'm getting out of here.

  • @dicygirl03 ... why you are in germany?

  • @dicygirl03 ..im beginnig to feel that.

  • @dicygirl03 that I expect much now, I'm going to U.S. soon, one of my friends will be going to Canada and the rest will remain here in our country....but we can always contact each other...I mean here's the internet, we can email them right? or some other ways of communication...or if u want, call a reunion, it's all good

  • @dicygirl03 Im sorry to hear about your circumstances - I had alot of ruptures in life - parents divorces, friends lost and rock music helped me to make sense of things - I love the Smashing Pumpkins - and just look at Billy Corgan - renewal and change he has had to take on and he is still going strong - he's a guide and a inspiration like so many of my rock heroes. I wish you all the best and for the safe return of your husband. Rob

  • i love the atmosphere of the 90s

  • @MarkLKJ iv been trying to put into words for so long but you comment says it all

  • @MarkLKJ iv been trying to put it into words for so long but you comment says it all.

  • @MarkLKJ yep, well, I was born in 1996 so I don't really know, but yeah Smashing Pumpkins somehow live out the 90's atmosphere and I love it

  • @MarkLKJ i love too!

  • after the 90's and bands like these, nirvana and pixies alternative rock went down the shiter. i mean what is it now. its all shit, bands acting like alternative rock bands and rock bands but there not. one band that comes to mind is kings of leon. they are shit. it isnt rock and it will never be rock.

  • @rossmc72 Every rock band sounds like nickelback now. Garbage.

  • @TheHerpaderpderp true. fuckin nickelback... 'this is how you remind me' NO fuckers, put down the mic and guitars and leave. band full of faggots. and their fans are all members of the faggot fan club.

  • im only 17 and sometimes i get so pissed i wasnt a teen in the 90s. But then im like fuck it everyone around me is listening to garbage pumped out of a machine based on nothing but economic profit. And me, well i listen to good music

  • wht album iz this from ???

  • @joaquinR1stargate google it or itunes it !!

  • @Thecgerhart92 thx for the gr8 fuken info !!

  • This video is "Perfect"

  • whiny band

  • It's supposed Yo be the same people a few years after 1979

  • is that the same corner store and clerk from the 1979 video?? :)

  • This song and 1979 are my favorites of the smashing pumpkins.

  • People keep talking crap about music current music. There is great music out now as well as a lot of crap. Same can be said about the 90s, 80s and further back. Awesome music like this just stands the test of time.

  • @xxFromYesterdayxx Dude you make me feel like an old man, but well spotted, the Pumpkins were awesome back in the day...some of the most timeless music from the 90's

  • @xxFromYesterdayxx damn dude i was born in 93 and ive been listening to em for years 0_0

  • Comment removed

  • @xxFromYesterdayxx sucks for you ( o ) ( o )

  • Move over modern bullshit...and stay there

  • This song is perfect (:

  • Was born in '92. I didn't get into real good music till I hit my teens. SOAD and Korn are all fine, but sometimes, it's nice to listen to music that was out before my time.

  • I am glad I was a teenager in the 90's.

  • nice.¿¿

  • poor shop dude, he has like, the worst days ever

  • Bruce lee, before the fame

  • that poor asian store owner lol he gets fucked up in almost every smashing pumpkins video

  • i love this song ..they plyed the sountrack of my live.....thank you smashing pump

  • This song has such a significant meaning to me. Back in the summer of 2008, me (13) and my friend (15) had been talking about the Smashing Pumpkins on the bus ride to camp. I didn't know he liked them as well as I did, and at the end of the bus ride this song came on the radio. I had never heard it and it was his favorite song and he sang along to it so quietly and peacefully. In the December of 2009, he commit suicide. That bus ride was my favorite memory of him. I'll always miss you James.

  • @DaveMarzi :( sad!!

  • @DaveMarzi

I know what you mean, man.

  • @DaveMarzi Damn dude, :(. Tragic

  • @DaveMarzi i'm drinking a beer now for your hommie. sorry 4 ur loss. peace, my friend.

  • @DaveMarzi i am a clairvoyant and he says to tell you he was masturbating to you when he died

  • @GiveEmHellMCR idiot.

  • GOD BLESS 90'S!!!

  • wooooow me gusta mucho.

  • Did anyone else go out and buy that exact shade of blue eye makeup after seeing how beautiful James looked in this video?

  • I miss it too

  • This song calms my heart down, after I watched someone I love very much walk away.

  • Next time... I promise.. It will be Perfect

  • k so check this out the "stop' n 'go mart" at 1:17 is the same stop' n 'go mart in the music video "defy you" by the offspring. pretty damn cool huh :D

  • @russ6661 its also the same stopp n go market from the 1979 video from the smashing pumkins ..in case you didnt knew..but your right same one from defy yoyu..

  • if you listen closely at the end you can actually hear like a micro second of daphne descends lol

  • i never knew this was follow up to 1979! awesome

  • wait.... THATS THE SAME MINI MART FROM 1979!!!!!

  • this song makes me miss the 90s... growing up carefree and the music was good...

  • PERFECT!

  • This vid is actually a follow-up for 1979. The characters (actors) are the same. It's a story about the difficulty of being grown-up. 1979 was more like a song of wild youth without any responsibility. Just hanging out & having fun.

"Perfect" is a sad song. In short, things didn't go as planned. Life screwed up, but maybe in the next life things will be better.

Or that's how I got this song.

  • @uyx

Oh my gosh! I have never seen this video before and went reading the comments first. I'm glad I did, I really tied a lot together from the two videos!

  • SHit I was 12 or 13 when I got their Cassette for Chistmas :) that just changed my life ! :) Love Smashing Pumpkins till I die!!!

  • 183 persons won't we perfect

  • @ZatarraDantes1 Please stop with these generic comments, especially on a Smashing Pumpkins video. Everyone knows you're just fishing for the thumbs-up.

  • @ebgreenham u seriously need to get a life men =/

  • @ZatarraDantes1 I don't want to argue with you, but i really just want to protect videos like this. If you love the Smashing Pumpkins, then i suggest you don't manufacture generic insults toward people that dislike the song. You can go ahead and comment like that at mainstream music of today, but you shouldn't do that here.

  • @ZatarraDantes1 think you need a life. posting those annoying comments will get you marked as spam.

  • Si, la proxima vez seremos perfectos

  • another great jam from the 90's, but it still pisses me off that i was born in 91 and did't start appreciating the music for what it was until i was like 14, but i do thank god that i didn't get into any of the shit that they're calling music these days.

  • @3Hits4Felix I know what you mean. I was born in 92 and would give anything to go back in time and see the original Pumpkins perform all their great songs from siamese dream, MCIS and Adore

  • @3Hits4Felix Agreed, music today is shit.

  • @3Hits4Felix Mmm, that sounds exactly what a tool ass piece of shit would say. Nice fail.

  • @3Hits4Felix Exact same here bro, except I was 1992. But one of my earliest memories of music was watching the video of Tonight Tonight with my older sister, and getting scared shitless by those things on the moon and the sea monsters. Yet I didnt really like smashing pumpkins till I was like 16 or 17.

  • @3Hits4Felix i wuz born in 97... im 13 and i just started listening to good music in the 4th grade...

  • @gtbtone Same here. Actually I barely listened to music until a few years ago.

  • @3Hits4Felix their is actually pretty good music out there. you just gotta find it. one of my favorite bands is Silversun Pickups. Absolutely love them.

  • @3Hits4Felix There is SOME not much but some good bands out now but i agree the 90's were amazing for music even though i was only around for a little bit of the 90's I still love the music :D

  • @3Hits4Felix

enough of the 'music will never be the same' comments

its not the music its the people

did gish just show up on your doorstep one day? did someone hand you mellon colllie on your way to work? bitching about the quality of todays music isnt helping anything. have you seriously searched for a good band lately? probably not.

if people were willing to look and not expect exactly the same they would realize good music is just a glance away

  • @Mrgoosebags well i do agree with you partially on the fact that it's the peoples fault, but you also have to take into consideration that todays industry is filled with yuppy idiot suits, who manufacture safe bubble gum pop rock and new wave emo and screamo bullshit. and that's a huge problem when real artists arent getting the airplay they deserve, like Ben Harper and the Relentless 7, so yes i have searched for good bands and they are the only one i like with an exception of a few others.

  • @Mrgoosebags and hey i have a right to bitch, its like voting, if you dont vote the idoits in office and they get in and start fuckin shit up then in all reality you should have the right to complain, and not the people who voted for them Lmao!

  • @3Hits4Felix That is retarded. If you don't bother to vote, you clearly don't care, so if the people that were elected start fucking shit up, please shut the fuck up. If it wasn't important then, it shouldn't be important to you know. People who don't vote and then complain are moronic assholes.

  • @johnjohnmajortom in what reality do you live in? I guess you're one of these assholes who buys in to the whole "choose the lesser of two evils" bit, and not voting doesnt mean i dont care it means i would rather wait until I see someone i feel could make a real change. think of it as going into business w/someone while your workers are sayin hey man dont do it hes bad news, then the guy runs the store into the ground 3 months later, who do you think has the right to complain?

  • @3Hits4Felix You are probably one of the dumbest commenters on youtube.

  • @johnjohnmajortom keep tellin yourself that, i'll keep livin in the real world where shit like that happens to good people and they're out of a decent job and having to work at jack in the box slaving over a hot fry cooker for shit hours and minimum wage. our economy is shit, the bankers of goldman and sachs are shaking hands w/our gov't while they strangle the people(remember the bail out) and neither party is trustworthy. It's one nation under wallstreet man, so wake up or play dead.

  • @3Hits4Felix mothefucker you got money enought to have accses to a computer and internet and that stuff you alright
