@piip4 Not identical in Use though, Each kanji has the old Chinese meaning(but reads the meaning in Japanese) and another reading which is not related to original Chinese meaning and is phonetic(combination of sounds are used to produce Japanese word). also Japanese are required to remember less Kanji (2050+ for most published material) than the Chinese need (5000 I think) thanks to hiragana and katakana and second kanji reading (Japanese have 3 systems of writing used in combination)
Thanks for the introductory lesson, however I've studied Japanese for 4 years. I really like the benefit of being able to read some Chinese. It's like you're getting two languages for the price of one when studying either Japanese or Chinese.
