The reasoning given by the committee is solid enough. Its deserved. My initial thought was that it was to early. But I've had some time on me to think on it. And its a good choice.

Ending the missile shield program had nothing to do with Iran, Iran has a) no nukes and b) nothing that could reach the countries in question with a nuke. They also have no reason to bomb them. The missile shield was against Russia and it's removal was an attempt to get Russia acquiescence to attacking Iran. Far from negotiating Obama is trying to justify sanctions on the basis of a "secret" plan the Iranians told everyone about. Oh and he's attacking Somalia.
THe OFFICIAL justificatino for ending the missile shield program was intelligence reports that showed that Iran did not have the long-range missile capabilities to justify the program. The people in Eastern Europe most likely wanted it out of fear of Russian aggression. Any small strategic attacks on Somalia are because of Al Queda's presence there.

The prize is political in nature, although not necessarily only towards American politics. Obama is like Johnson during Vietnam. He was against the war before he was president, but ended up getting stuck with it because of mistakes by previous president. He feels he has to go through with it rather than be a bully president and just say no. Sometimes being a bully is a good thing.

I've read the reasoning and I'm intimate familiar with Norwegian politics for decades. The political climate here is utterly different and its an openness which you do not see many other places. And he has actually lowered the temperature. The approach to all conflicts is utterly different. Iran is about stopping proliferation. Which is a key aspect of preventing a nuclear war. Obama have a great approach on that, while its Europe now which is the hawk on that issue.

No it's not suppressed, but that's hardly Obama's fault. He heavily pressured the Palestinian government (the one that lost the election but stayed in) to cooperate in denying it. This despite it's clear accuracy in reporting Isreali war crimes. Iran is not about stopping proliferation since Iran isn't trying for nuclear weapons (a fact the US has government officially known since 2007). How is his approach different? Is he not starting wars and bombing people?

First of its Fatah, and its the Palestinian self authority. Not a government. Secondly. They have closed the nuclear weapons program. Thats because they need the enriched uranium to continue further. So why keep it open while you enrich the uranium? I'm sorry but it seems that you don't fully understand the steps involved in the program. The enrichment they can do under a civilian program.

But thats kind of different. Thats an ongoing conflict to not allow Taliban to cross boarders to a safe harbor and then re-attack. A occupation btw. that Norway is involved in and is sanctioned by the UN. But all this is semantics. Because the committee has looked at all those facts. They have had professors look at the candidates and decided to focus and reward his efforts. I know its difficult to get a clear grasp on. But these people value dialog highly and believe that solves things.

I don't think Arafat was the worst, bad choice but not as bad as Kissinger. Arafat is kind of justified in that the reality is tensions between Israel and Palestine are high and innocent blood is on both of them. Arafat was making some progress with peace negotiations in the 90's. Although I still think he did not deserve it.

Ending the missile shield program had nothing to do with Iran, Iran has a) no nukes and b) nothing that could reach the countries in question with a nuke. They also have no reason to bomb them. The missile shield was against Russia and it's removal was an attempt to get Russia acquiescence to attacking Iran. Far from negotiating Obama is trying to justify sanctions on the basis of a "secret" plan the Iranians told everyone about. Oh and he's attacking Somalia.

THe OFFICIAL justificatino for ending the missile shield program was intelligence reports that showed that Iran did not have the long-range missile capabilities to justify the program. The people in Eastern Europe most likely wanted it out of fear of Russian aggression. Any small strategic attacks on Somalia are because of Al Queda's presence there.

Bin Laden himself said in an interview that Al Queaeda was present during the battle in Mogadishu where Americans were chased out. Ask any veteran from the battle of Fallujah whether or not Al Quaeda is capable of a street battle. The fact is Al Queda has peopple in Somalia. I'm not saying it is overrunning the country like it did in AFghanistan but it is present. Al Queda is in Yemen, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and many other countries around the world. Al Quaeda in Iraq (which is not the neccesarily part of Al Quaeda) did what it usually did, supplied suicide bombers and did bugger all of the actual fighting because they didn't have the numbers. You don't provide any evidence that AQ is anywhere you say it is. OBL isn't a reliable source because he has every reason to exaggerate his power. It's like regarding Stalin as a reliable guide to how many bombers the USSR had.
