rip terry you was my hero i see the movie of you the marathon of keep me oging on as i have the big c as well your love is with my kids as well love you always ellen
Awesome tribute. I will show this to my classes each year. My only suggestion would be perhaps to add some subtitles to those areas where it is somewhat difficult to make out what Terry is saying due to the aging quality of the audio from 1981. This would make it a little easier for students to follow along. Terry was saying some great things but it's pretty difficult to make it out at times, especially with the background music. Thank you for the time / effort you put into making this.
The strength of heart inside this young man should be an inspiration to everyone. Nobody in history, or in the future, has ever, or will ever, had or will have more perseverence than this young child of God. Some say that he left us too soon, but sweet beings like Terry Fox aren't meant to spend much time with those of us who are undeserving of his presence. God placed him here to show us what is possible when we commit ourselves to a dream. He was an angel straight from the heart of God.
Have crossed the country numerous times by car and the road driving is a demanding, lonely place. Can't imagine facing mile after mile running across. We'll never forget you Terry.
I run a HM every day and it is possible. Running at the pace of Terry is a stress with the artificial leg but it's not heart intensive that's why he could.
He obviously was so much stronger mentally that his body had to fail in order for him to stop. But he didn't stop after all... the Marathon of Hope is STILL being done today.
He was just a kid doing this. It overwhelms me thinking about it. Greatest Canadian ever and one of the most amazing human beings ever to grace the earth.
I am so disgusted that there are rumours that Wayne Gretzky will light the Olympic Torch. Betty Fox, or Terry's brother... should light it. His life has inspired us all, and his feat defines the inspiring character of man. Terry's legacy will live on for eternity... Gretzky is a professional athlete with a natural talent... not a bonifide hero like Terry.
If Gretzky lights the torch tomorrow, I will be ashamed to be Canadian...
@mattymraz and honestly im sure wayne feels the same way. its not like he pushed them out of the way to light it. if one person is more humble about what he had been given to work with it is wayne gretzky, to quote mario lemieux 'working with wayne in the all stars, showed me how much he truly put into being the best. and showed me how hard you have to work everyday to be called the best'
It is unbelievable that he ran a marathon EVERY DAY! He was a genuine and sincere person and a true inspiration to everyone. It is a shame people like that are not around long enough.
Terry was an amazing athelete for certain and an amazing human being. Few people have the courage he had. He's my hero and I don't have many of those. ;D
Terry was great because he excelled in two fields. First, he proved that someone could run on a prosthesis (which Steve Fonyo finished) across Canada. (And my own countryman, Jeff Keith proved as well across the United States) Second, that cancer can be beaten (I know a few who have won against the disease). Terry has proven that he is a hero that we need in this day and age of false heroes of North America. He has his place on a coin, let alone a mountain, several schools and statutes.
Ya, we definitly need some real inspirational figures in the world right now more then ever, very scary road we are going down now... i don't like it.
Even though I'm not running anymore, we still have to try to find a cure for cancer. Other people should go ahead and try to do their own thing now. - Terry Fox
As much as I hate to say this both my friend and I have a phobia of Terry Fox
Mine has went away abit
But my friend she cannot watch or see anything about Terry Fox or she will burst out crying until we change the channel...I dont kno what it is but she is scared to death of him
As I was too when i was little..
We both think he is a hero to all canadians
and we respect him to the highest level.
Runescapebest123 get a life you sick fuck, and gain some respect.

im runescapbebest123's owner and i am sorry for what my 9 years old immature CUZEN wrote about Terry Fox...please dont take it persanolly...i love our National Hero Terry Stanley Fox...and no im from Canada
Terry is a hero. I live in Quebec and at the time he ran we didn't give him the respect he deserved. However, since then, my son's school has raised so much money, every year, for Terry's cause that Terry's mom visited the school . She is such a wonderful woman. Terry
, you are a hero to our school....Which is called Heroes memorial in Cowansville Quebec
What I still find incomprehensible is that the three of them knew no French. Shouldn't French be taught in schools? It is the other official language. To get a shower, one only needs a few phrases like "On a besoin de se doucher." or maybe "Nous avons utliser les douches."
When I went to Montréal in 1976, 77, and 78, I used my limited French to speak to the chambermaids. I made mistakes, but so what?
Terry Fox is one if not the most inspirational Canadians that ever walked the face of the earth. While attending college in 1977 he had bone cancer in his leg and they had to amputate his right leg a few centimeters above the knee. While going for chemo he was touched by those that were battling the same disease as he was so he decided to run across Canada to help raise money for cancer research. Hes an inspiration to us all and will never be forgotten.

Yes, he had Osteogenic Sarcoma (a very deadly form of bone cancer). It does spread to the lungs. It's hard to get all the cancer out with this sort of cancer.

The exhaust fumes would have accelerated the disease. So many vehicles were accompanying him along the way. That was the mistake. If they were to do it differently like running along less polluted routes, Terry would still be around.
While I applaud your commitment to bring about an end to pollution Terry passed away because the cancer they thought they got rid of when they amputated his leg had spread to his lungs. Such is the nature of Cancer.
yes i agree with you, like instead of finding ways to cure cancer people now are making automatic toilet dispensers which is so stupid because it just makes the people of today so lazy.
The music was a low point for me, but the rest of the vids you assembled was very inspirational.

Its a nice tribute, but instead of the BTO song you should have added the song that Rod Stewart wrote for Terry Fox. It would have fit perfectly.

Terry Fox wasted his time trying to help Canadians.
Canadians are forced to go to the US for proper cancer treatment.
Politicians have stolen so much money, there is very little left for cancer treatment.
