Hey guys, I'm shipping to MCRD San Diego on August 6th, and I was wondering whether I should just run timed 3 mile runs in order to improve my time, or if I should do interval training. Any advice on what will yield the best results the quickest?
@Byniabynia Run on outside on real ground everytime you get the chance. Gains on the treadmill cannot directly translated to gains from running on real concrete.
i was just wondering because im plannini on joining with in the coming months what was about the average distance you ran during boot camp on a daily basis so that i can best prepare myself thanks.
Oh and just so you know you were the reason and motivation I needed to have to join. Thank you so much.. If only you knew what was going on in my life. Lets just say you gave me a hope and a new look on life.. Basically you saved my life. My name is Mikey... Thank you so much.
Hi DELANDO Im a 20 yr old out of okc&I have my mind set 2 join this month or the 1st of Jan, My #1 opt. mos is infan. Wud u say its a bad mos 2 get in2 right now? & wud u no if bein a grunt/the life suck as bad as every grunt make it out to b? Im all 4 it but I dont want 2 b stuck w/ a job where im out N a field 4 years, No combat, Stuck N the barracks 24/7, Cleaning... More cleaning.. Maybe school. This is the boring mental pic I have stuck N my head, If u can hlp me fig out wat its really like
Im only 12 but ive got my mind set on Marine Corps. What is the minimum age requirement to go to recruit training. I know its not gonna be for 8 years or so. Or what do you recommend too. You said you were 26 when you went to boot camp. So how long is recruit training too?
damn your big. im 6ft 2in and 167lbs. i know a qualify for the marines. im in contact with a recruiter. do you think im to skinny for bootcamp. i feel like with my work ethic and determination i can make it through. but you went and your 26 and all built, think i can hack it? and my determination is very high. or do you think il get beat up to bad? my fat percentage is also 5%, i run a mile in less than 6min and can do pull ups, push ups and sit ups well.
@DelandoBrad thanks for your opinion bro. i feel like better to be a little skinny and in good shape instead of over weight but strong. i have friends that can bench 70 pounds more. but cant do 20 pull ups. and how bad was body hardening? do you get the shit kicked out of you or is it not to bad?
do you remember what your time was for this run? I'm the first to admit that running is not my strong suit either but sticking with it does help, i hope lol!
@Isthisthelongestname 28 eight is the absolute Bare minimum you have to run to just barely pass. But just because you run the bare minimum doesn't mean you pass the whole PFT. Every thing is done on a point system and if you don't get enough points you fail the PFT. you get a perfect score on the running test if you run it in 18 minutes or less. A friend of mine ran his 3 mile in 18 minutes 13 seconds.
@thebluemaggot 28 minutes is the maximum amount of time you get to run 3 miles. You can do the bare minimum on each event and still pass the PFT. Chances are when you get to the PFT, boot camp will have made you more physically fit to not worry about only reaching the minimum standards.

@DelandoBrad Just did the work-out beast mode. Boots made it more difficult but I see what it helps. You should do more videos soon

You will be fine! You are not first skinny guy to go to boot camp and you certainly won't be the last. Besides Marines are known to be lean!

miguelrules1234567 11 months ago
@tubs2k lol, other way around if anything. This was just training for him- 21 minutes minimum standard for the US marines. 18 min prefered

Not sure what the exact time was for this run, but it was faster than 28 mins. Try running with and w/o the weight to see what gains you make.
