  • i know this now lol having seen them play myself... just opened my gob as a reenactor criticising others in period gear!

  • Just to be clear, this fife and drum corps is not a reenacting unit. they play modern fifes and modern arrangments of old and new tunes, as do many other corps in the US. Their objective is to sound good, not be authentic. I, myself am a reenactor, and would cringe seeing a corps lik this at a reenactment, as reenactors. Corps like this gather at events called musters to perform for eachother, and keep this style of fife and drum alive. MCV is one of my favorite corps to wach at a muster.

  • for those of u who were asking for the song name its White Cockade

  • screw all of you and shame on you for coming on and dissing another country. especially their culture. All MCV, as well as the hundreds of other fife and drum corps in the us and abroad are trying to do is preserve their countries history and culture. Just like every other country does.

  • We are boring just to spite those that think we need more zest. In fact we prefer to save our uplifting zest for the battlefield!

  • was at the tattoo in Edinburgh and you were superb. Never mind dickhead comments your performance was great . I will forgive you for the white cockade as i am a COVENANTER. Three cheers for the Red White and Blue.

  • << Been to USA, lived in Iowa & California , a bit, But why why Oh why do American Military March,,,,,,?? like they have Piles, even in 2008 USA MilTARY,,,, those G I s, seem to have Anal Leakage Problems

  • i'm a proud American who attended a performance of the military tatoo last summer, and let me tell you, the MVC moved everyone around me. even the natives Scots and those from other countries sitting near me and my family praised them.

way to bring the spirit, guys! ((:

  • Well, I guess if you wanted real authentic, you could have one third of the players with dysentery, another third with whooping cough, and another third with gangrenous limbs. Plus you could stunt their growth and make them all smell bad.

Other than that, the drummers have a thorough understanding of 18th century rudiments.

  • AS a proud Brit, I have to say the MCV are magnificent...wonderful precision... and the pride, nay sheer hauteur of that drum major really are something else...go MCV!

  • music isn't out of place in Scotland lol if you say that the African band shouldn;t be there LOL

  • This was a popular British march used in the Seven Years War, then played on both sides of the American Revolution. It was mostly played by Regulars of the Southern colonies, so it is authentic.

  • anyone know the title of the song?

  • mmm...not sure I like this. On one hand the music is out of place in Scotland. Secondly, the field presentation, choreography it might be called, is out of period with the era presented. It's tight and everything, but just not in place.

  • I am from the same area,Plimoth County. MCV is uniformed according to the U.S. continental army's clothing warrants of 1779 for New England regiments it's authentic. most other regiments wore a red coat. I would realy like to attend the Tattoo there are others but there an imitation of the real thing what a great event!

  • considering the band wasn't scottish and made up of reenactors from the US it was brilliant.

could point out a couple of inauthentics but that'd ruin it for peeps

  • Made up of VOLUNTEERS like in the real war lol so it is in fact ALL authentic. Xpdnc12 you need to read a book of early American military uniforms and volunteer regiments ( minutemen) and drill, go to Amazon there are some real good ones =)

  • the band didn't have to be scottish to be in the military tatoo. there were performances from all over the world, including a drill team from tapei.

and it's kinda hard to have anything BUT reenactors if you're trying to emulate the wars from that era. the originals being dead and all. :\

you should have just said "it was brilliant." because it was amazingly so.

  • i know you don't have to be scottish to be part of the tattoo i was merely pointing out a couple of inaccuracies on the reenactorsm particularly the ww2 ones, this was purely as im a reenactor myself.

the Tattoo as you say was amazing and i look forward to attending again

  • @rodentum44 These are not reenactors. This is a modern fife and drum corps, that dresses in 18th century clothing, they have all modern arrangments and play modern fifes. They are like many other fife and drum corps in the US, they modernize fife and drum as well as keeping it, as a hobby, alive.

  • i think you'll find it was the civil war marches sound like this

  • Crazygrainger .. its never a good idea to mess with Scots ;) we hold grudged for thousands of years ;)

  • Great video Mike! Can't wait to see more pics and videos. Heard you all had a blast! ~Laine

  • Sounds like they're marching into a massive Civil War battle.

  • Great!! Thanks for posting this!!

  • Great Job MVC!!
