@orejaebria ~ No, it's Lizabeth Scott from the 1947 film "Dead Reckoning." Humphrey Bogart (a.k.a. Mr. Lauren Bacall) is in it though — he's the one holding the match.
@Bombeni ~ I'm one of the distinct minority of film noir fans who doesn't like "Double Indemnity" (call me crazy, but I just don't buy McMurray's performance). So, I looked at other films first. Others have told me that I should have included Yvonne De Carlo in "Criss Cross," but in all her close-ups in that movie, her lips are moving, which spoils the effect.
My favorite version is Sting's. I am sure Frank and Ella get all the votes but I just wanted a little press for Sting's version, the man can sing and arrange
Claire Trevor is very lovely indeed. I love her movies so much. They are so hard to find. I have found quite a few though at lovingtheclassics I just googled lovingtheclassics after reading about them on another youtube classic (i think it was alan ladd)
Of course you're right. It's Springsteen. When I said Sinatra "owned" the tune. I meant that for me it was the definitive version bringing out the underlying spookiness and hint of possible underlying violence suggested by the lyrics.
@trajan75 - There might be some misunderstanding. This version of "Angel Eyes" is sung by Bruce Springsteen, not Willie Nelson.
In my opinion, no truly great song is "owned" by any performer. Sinatra's and Lady Ella's versions of "Angel Eyes" have their own fine qualities. But it was this gritty, stripped-down version by Springsteen, not the others, that inspired me to put this video together.
@pagano60 ~ Try listening to Shirley Bassey's version of the song. It is the essence of film noir, in three minutes. I personally don't like the Springsteen version; he just doesn't have the voice to carry a song quietly, as he does here. His loud singing masks all of the inherent flaws in his voice; he's no Sinatra.
nice video, I am curious how you are making them. I have yet to really figure out how to do videos. but you have a great eye for putting the right music to the images.
boooooo!!!!! I like frank sinatra's version better, but still an interesting film, so rated 5 for beautiful women with beautiful eyes, it was really good even without the voice of frank
If you clicked on the "more info" link to the right of the screen, you would see that the actress is Lizabeth Scott from the 1947 film DEAD RECKONING. The arm holding the match in that shot belongs to Humphrey Bogart.
Loved seeing all those film noir divas together - not just the legends like Rita, Lana, Hedy, and Ava but those great dames like Lizabeth Scott, Marie Windsor, Cleo Moore, Claire Trevor, et al. Very cool!
I looked into using clips from "Les Diaboliques," but that film has very few close-ups of its femmes fatales, and the few that it has didn't fit the mood that I was going for.
Very cool project. Actually, I'm glad it's not all the "usual suspects". Some more obscure characters. Some that you recognize some that you hardly even heard of...(Peggy Cummins??).
The actresses who aren't as well-known as the big-name movie stars are from films that are cult classics among film-noir aficionados. ("Film noir" means those cynical, shadowy crime dramas made by Hollywood in the decade or so after WW2.) I had originally intended to limit my clips to only noir films (they seemed to go best with the song), but when the other clips appeared to work, I decided to use them as well.
Thank you very much for this correction!!

This Willie Nelson version is fine but Sinatra owns this tune( in the Nelson Riddle arrangement I believe).
