ummm, sorry to break it to you, but YYZ is honestly the most technical guitar part I've ever tried to play. and it's on GH2 and RB.

I've played guitar for 4 years, and I can only do about a forth of what he does.

i dont want to make this a guitarist vs guitarist pissing match because really, they're different guitarists. alex lifeson is a great guitarist. but paul gilbert is on another level.

again, totally different guitarists, and in fact pg is a huge rush/alex lifeson fan (mr big opened for them quite a few years ago), but pg is much much more a technical player.

He's missing the thing that makes a guitarist truly great. PG lacks discretion. Alex knows when too play fast, and when not to. music is about way more than speed.

ok now your just trying to get me mad. look asswad paul gilbert is known for having one of the best technique if you dont like go look somewere else and dont waste your time here. let other people who love his music enjoy it . if you want to look at complex Paul Gilbert songs look up Viking Kong, Get out of my Yard, motorman, etc and speed is easy u say try going his speed while having technique. Talk shit when you can back it up if not then sit down and shut the fuck up!!!!

i don't think you know enough of his work to say that. yeah, a lot of his early work is just crazy, intense, scary guitar (but so was the rest of the 80's!) but (especially) in his newer stuff you can tell he has grown a TON as a guitarist. a lot more melodic playing.

again, they're different players, but to say paul can't play slow is ignorant towards his work.

and lets be honest, if YYZ is the most difficult/technical thing you've ever played, you haven't played any paul gilbert stuff.
