Ok, what I've gotten from the vid so far is:

A guy that is trying to find 'paradise', a promised land where everything seems great........on paper. He passes a ship with a lady on it, whom is also looking for the same thing? (I know the line 'two ships that pass in the night', that that refers to a very brief encounter between two people......not the case here?!). Theres the sinking, he tries to rescue her, but she ends up saving him.  They both then go to find this 'paradise', but,

I was in a band called Some Other Day in a thriving Harlow Jangly scene (a' la' Smiths et al), and Steve was a budding reporter.
