my partitions are the wrong way around. the partition i deleted was the top partition so now i have the bottom one left. but i cant drag it down to resize it because its at the bottom of the two partitions. the top one says its 500gb of free space how do i resize my bottom partition to the full hard drive memory. i only have 500gb of mem on the snow leopard partition i want my 1 tb of mem back how do i do it?
thanks for your video, very helpful! i would appreciate your opinion on this:
since i don't have enough free disk space on my lion partition to make a second SL partition, would it work if i just made a complete lion-backup (e.g. via carbon copy cloner) on an external drive, erase the lion partition via SL-install disk, simply re-install SL and then manually copy my user files from my external backup? (i read somewhere that restoring information from Lion in SL won't work)
Hello! Nice video! :) I have been using osx lion for a while and I want to downgrade the same way as you showed me, but does this work if I have a bootcamp partition with windows installed?
also seeing your video, i see you deleted the bottom partition which was meant to be your Snow Leopard. I am confused since i kept the larger partition where it had Lion. Please help me.
Everything worked fine but when I try to erase the partition it says that "Partition failed with the error: This operation requires a newer version of Mac OS X for this disk."
Does this same concept apply to removing a developer preview version of Lion (say, for example, 10.7.2 is the current version and you have the 10.7.3 beta)? Seems like it would, if you're simply just creating a new partition and installing there.
everything worked fine! got both systems running right now..
my question is if it's possible to transfer all my apps like photoshop or whatever from lion to leopard and than delete lion after that..or can i just get all my files and stuff over to my "new" leopard partition and have to reinstall all my apps?
i tried to revert back to Snow Leopard and it worked. And I was able to use the software I wanted in Snow Leopard then I did a Software update and came home and i get nothing but a blue screen when I try to load Snow Leopard. But the lion partition still runs. Any idea?
@HackTheTouch whenever i try to boot from the disc it starts to load but then it gets a kernal panic.. ive done it about 3 times and it always gets a kernal panic.. what should i do..?? PLZ help...
i am having a problem. i am trying the disc part. i put in my snow leopard disk into my mac book pro that came with the snow leopard but i waited for more than 1 hr waiting for it to show the installer and i have hold c too. the problem is that it stucks there with the apple logo and the spinning wheel. pls help
Sorry if this was mentioned, I may not have noticed...but...
How do we save our itunes playlists when downgrading? I understand transfering over the music files, but the plists are gone... When I am running the Snowleopard partition, I find the iTunes Library file from the Lion side, try to open it, but (obviously) it says "this library was created by a newer version of itunes" or something like that. How do we solve this? Thanks!
@kktubelt Actually, solved my own problem- for anyone interested... If you backed up just before making a partition/installing SL then just go into time machine, find itunes library.itl in the iTunes folder, click restore, restore to your new itunes folder and "replace" original file. Works :)
I was wondering, whether responded by HackTheTouch himself or another user, after you have successfully downloaded SL onto the second partition, what do you do with the original partition with Lion on it? I've see a video of how to delete it using the OS x install disc that comes with your computer, but is that what I need to do? I don't want my disk partitioned at all, I want Lion gone all the way. I would appreciate the feedback! I've been at this for 4 hours now. Thanks guys.
i need to down grade because i can't use screen flow any more and screen flow 3.0 sucks. i got lion from the app store and i don't have a snow leopard disk. it just came with my computer

My imac came with Snow Leopard pre installed, so did not come with a disc, I then downloaded Lion for the app store. Does anyone know if it is possible for me to reinstall Snow Leopard without the disc?

thanks for the video! I'm selling my old iMac that shipped with snow leopard but i had installed lion when it came out. i was going crazy trying to figure out what to do. thanks again
I need to go back to Snow Leopard on my late 2008 macbook pro and I do not have an external back up of all my files and documents (everything on my mac), only an original Mac OS X Snow Leopard installation disc, My question is basically, How can I go back to Snow Leopard without loosing any of my 184 GB stored on my macbook 250GB HD if I only have the installation disc? Thank you very much!!
Hi, first of all, Thanks a lot about this video and your help. I really need to ask you something abut this procedure Hack The Touch, what's your email? Basically my issue is that as many people, I absolutely hate Lion and do not understand where is the leap forward, with so many setbacks.
i need help...every time i try to boot from my external HD with the install DVD on it i get the circle with a line through it like the no parking sign thing without the P...any ideads on what i might have done wrong
@GBabyTheGeneralTV Really, the only recent updates that Apple has screwed up would be OS X Lion and Final Cut X. Oh, and who could forget the absolute trash that was the third generation iPod Shuffle! :P
@GBabyTheGeneralTV I'm not sure what you being an artist has anything to do with OS X Lion, and you said "I brought the iPhone full price to unlock it and had to get a gevey sim", which is your fault, not Apple's. Apple sells an unlocked version of the iPhone 4 at their retail stores; you don't have to unlock one yourself. Your statement "they are trying to keep us occupied by technology" makes no sense whatsoever...
Maybe a stupid question but to recover all your data/programs from your Lion partition, you cannot use migration assistent via the snowleopard HD and then choose from the Lion-volume? Thanks for the vid btw :-)
@balkmaster Not a dumb question at all! You can definitely transfer your files over, but as for programs, I'm not sure. Theoretically, they should be Lion versions of the software, so I don't know about backwards compatibility with Snow Leopard. You may just have to reinstall all of your programs for Snow Leopard as I did, but hey, anything is worth trying!
@HackTheTouch thx for your answer and I tried but unfortunately it doesn't work (neither files or programs) 'cause migration assistent in my Snow leopard partition simply says it can't transfer any files because the source disk contains a newer OSX-version. So I think I'll have to copy all my data manually then :-( Damn!
Wow... this would be nice to me... i want to install Pro Tools 9 HD... the stupid Lion don't let u uses Pro Tools until de 9.0.5 version... Snow Leopard come to papa... =P
Doesn't really work for me though. I don't come to the installation menu for snow leopard when starting up the computer, as you do. For me the screen turns black and a sign comes up saying "you need to restart your computer. hold down the power button until it turns off" Do you know how to solve this problem? I really would appreciate an answer.

Ok… I went to partition the drive and disc utility said it failed. I said screw it and decided to just do a fresh install and lose everything. The SL was on the thumb drive and I went for it. It said it would not allow me to install. What now?
@arild47 yeah bro i did :D listen up what u need to do is u wanna make another partition and reinstall snow leopard on it and delete the 2nd partition then fill the whole box with the new partition trust me it might be a pain in the ass but it works
thanks for the upload, but i have the same problem as dante..
I got my lion partision on top of my snow leopard, and i dragegd and dropped everything i wanted and i have also deleted my lion partition. But i can't get free space. You said i need to repeat the steps but i wont work.
I opened disk utility and made another partition so i could innstall SL on it, but when holding down option key during bootup it wont show.
i installed snow leopard transfered all data from lion partition on snow leopard partition it asked password i reset it with install disk, but after that snow leopard won't boot just hold blue screen.
All I m trying to do go back to snow leopard from lion, because lion sucks and mess my macbook pro, I don't have beta, its a offical lion from apple, I don't understand what's the partition mean and its term! All I wanna do its get rid of lion and install snow leopard! , I have the snow leopard disk! My mac wont even boot up right after installing lion, its just frezzes I m not happy! Plz help
Great video. Lion was clunking up my Mac. Followed your video and I'm I'm the middle of copying my files over to the SL partition. So far everything is going well. Thanks for the great video. This is saving me a huge headache!
help i've encountered a problem, after installed snow leopard on the new partition i booted it and a login page pops up and asks for a password? i don't even have a password!!?
@HackTheTouch They actualy didn't drop support for PPC until snow leopard. because i had a 2005 14 inch ibook with a PPC processor and it was running Leopard but when Snow Leopard came out i couldn't upgrade because i had a PPC processor. But for the people with Intel processor (I have the'10 macbook now) Who where running Snow Leopord who had PPC Programs the OS had a small program within it called roseta which allowed you to run PPC programs on an intel prosser. in lion they dropped roseta
@HackTheTouch actually, apple dropped powerpc support only in snow leopard. leopard works in the ibook g4 and any powerpc machine with a g4 processor.
@HackTheTouch Actually all of my programs that use PowerPC worked perfectly in Leopard. It wasn't until Lion came out and when i downloaded it that the programs that use PowerPC stopped working.
Thank you very much. I've been living in computing hell and like so many with such faith in Mac naively switched over without any backing up. This will help me get back to business as usual. =-)

HackTheTouch 6 months ago
When you did your update after reinstalling SL, you checked the OS X 10.7 box. Isn't that Lion?

societyscum 6 months ago
@societyscum Same thing happened to me. Unfortunately the only way I found to fix it is to delete the SL partition, recreate it, then reinstall SL.

Technoreviews411 6 months ago
@HackTheTouch actually, apple dropped powerpc support only in snow leopard. leopard works in the ibook g4 and any powerpc machine with a g4 processor.
boyuchuadaniel 6 months ago
@HackTheTouch Actually all of my programs that use PowerPC worked perfectly in Leopard. It wasn't until Lion came out and when i downloaded it that the programs that use PowerPC stopped working.
TheHaydster1 6 months ago
why did they drop powerpc? do they want people to buy Macs? This has got to be one of the stupidest things Apple has done, and all for what?
TheHaydster1 6 months ago
Thank you very much. I've been living in computing hell and like so many with such faith in Mac naively switched over without any backing up. This will help me get back to business as usual. =-)

Lion isn't working for me, my XP bootcamp doesn't work anymore, I miss the old spaces, tons of applications are powerpc and don't work, FUCK YOU LION
