Absolutely looove the walking bass...By far, one of the best arrangements I've heard of this song, ever... Brilliant. I couldn't agree more with @Fishies125... Sincerely, Your #2 biggest fan on YouTube! :)
Wow wow wow wow wow. Purely brilliant arrangement and some of the most feeling I've ever heard put into a piano piece. You, sir, are one of my new favorite pianists.
Wow, that was amazing. I would love to study under you. As a Pianist myself, I take instruction very well, and you style and interpretation is so amazing. I love it. If you do teach, I would love to learn.
I like what you're doing! You have such a smooth, effortless style, and I can really tell that you love playing. please continue to make YouTube a genuine source for artistic development! :)
Thanks parejopinto and bloggerbum for the great comments!
I rarely get to Melbourne - I think I've been there 3 times. Bloggerbum, if you happen to know of anywhere that I should approach for a gig down there, I'd love to hear about it.
The majority of the performance was improvised over the general chord structure of the song (New Real Book 1).....so it's not really a case of learning to play exactly these notes, but learning how to think in a particular way, and make it happen through the piano.
Hi Parejopinto - Thank you for your great comments :) I don't know about the microphones - I'm not that into the audio recording side. Phil Sawyers was the audio engineer - I will ask him and get back to you. Regards. Terence
No - I don't have a transcription or any notation for what I played - jazz musicians
tend to make up the performance as they go along (with alot of background theory). I actually couldn't play it exactly the same way again if I tried....however, if you are interested in learning how to play like that, think about learning jazz theory, and jazz improvisation. Thanks again for your comments!!
@TerenceKoo Hi, This is exactly what I am trying to get that. I mean really. I love Jazz and music like this. I am learning about pentagonic scales and things of that nature. Good job man. Nice song. Just one thing. What are those microphones you were using?
@parejopinto He's using what sounds like one or two large diaphragm cardioid compressor mics. Placed above the strings it's the way to go for solo piano acoustic guitar or solo voice. They're a must have.
Smoothly swings all the way through, with a nice bluesy turn near the 2:20 mark. Very well finessed movement between tight tempo and rubato playing. Beautifully recorded and shot as well. An idea for a down under CD title- "Opalescence"- great stuff, confidently delivered -a T-K-O.

Calapashi, this pianist is amazing, but Keith Jarrett invented his own original music style and compositions and is unmatched in the industry.
